Trigger Warning: Language & Strangulation
A little bit of backstory, I moved in with my best mate and his friend (F) 3 months ago due to unforeseen circumstances. Everything has been super chill, the friend is clean, respectful and we haven't really taken an issue. Until now.
Fast forward to tonight, we are down 6-4 at half-time and this guy (F) is going OFF because I tried to sub him. Now being a bit of a cheeky cunt I told him to pipe down because he was being a cockhead... you know, Australian and all.
Next thing you know F comes up in my face and tells me he is going to beat the shit out of me if I call him a cockhead again. Now I'm a decent sized guy, 6"2, and I'm standing there going whatever F is full of shit, I'm on his same team AND I am his room mate, there is no way he is going to take a swing at me. I guess you can see where this goes. Come end of the game, everyone has shaken hands and F makes some dick remark.
I walk up to F and say, "stop acting like a cockhead" and SNAP, he see red and lunges at me with a kick.
Following up, F then grabs me by the throat and attempts to strangle me. In. Front. Of. Everyone.
I was in so much shock I didn't retaliate by punching and instead just stood there calling him a cockhead as I just could not shut my mouth. Soon after the team quickly jumped in to hold him back.
Typing this out I should probably do AITA too but you could say I am still absolutely gobsmacked because when we got home - we took the same car there - all F says to me is "We can talk about this in the morning, cunt." Imagine me then explaining the hypocrisy to F when he tried to kill me after I called him a cockhead.
While we've had a chat since, it's so fucking CRAZY that this guy snapped at something so trivial! And if you take anything away I'd let you guys know to watch yourselves out there, to think you really know a person....
TL;DR I called my new room mate a cockhead at indoor soccer and after the game he tried to strangle me on the court in front of everyone, needless to say I've gotta find a new place to live.
The poll is linked to from this article, but check out the actual poll. On page 3:
> Thinking about public, indoor settings such as stores, workplaces, movie theaters and restaurants, which better describes how you would like mask wearing to be handled in the area where you live? > > Everyone should be required to wear a mask in public, indoor settings - 49% > > People should be able to choose whether they wear a mask in public, indoor settings - 51%
Whoa! Majority!

Later on Tuesday night, in an email to The Chronicle, a spokesperson for Berkeley Public Health essentially fired back. The spokesperson said there are 44 lab-confirmed COVID-19 cases within the Cal football program, adding βcases emerged in an environment of ongoing failure to abide by public health measures.β
He specifically said people in the program did not get tested when sick, stay home when sick or wear masks indoors.
βThese simple measures keep people safe,β the spokesperson said in a written statement. βFailing to do so results not only in individual infections, sickness and worse, but also threatens the safety of all around them β especially those with compromised immune systems.β
Berkeley Public Health βcontinues to work closely with University Health Services to help contain and respond to the major outbreak,β according to the statement. Cal-OSHAβs workplace safety rules define any workplace environment with 20 cases as a βmajor outbreak,β the spokesperson said
Good day everyone! I am a team member of a queer indoor football team of Ketelbinkie in Rotterdam. We are urgently looking for new members, so we can apply to play competitive next season. We are looking for queer and/or queer supporting people who would like to be part of a friendly team :)
We usually practice on Thursday evenings at oostervant or Henegouwen plein (a 15 minute walk from Rotterdam Centraal Station). If you want more information or would like to join, please send me a private message or reply to this post.
I thank you for reading this :) i wish you a very nice day
Hi, I just moved to Mississauga near Hillcrest and was wondering if there are any indoor football (soccer) spots where I can go to play casually with random people (haven't really got to know people irl)
Anyone has an idea of how to track steps while playing some kind of indoor ball sports like basektball, handball or soccer/football - to get the activity later with steps in Strava?!
Of course, they were all a quarter bach....
It's crazy to think the Fargodome cost 48 million in 1992 dollars and this indoor practice facility will cost 50 million itself. All private money too
Makes me wonder how much potential the city has in fundraising. Obviously there are a few bucks out there

I've been watching This Sport for years now and I don't understand why it's so overlooked. There used to Tv deals For it but the Original AFL Went bankrupt They had Merch,Games on NBC and ESPN and Videos I really Hope The IFL get more Publicity.
Here is the clip timestamped. So yeah pretty much, what percent of households enjoyed such conveniences? I ask because outhouses and lack of ceiling fans still seem to be common when reading about this period in literature.
They both have offensive lines
Received the email below earlier today, now has me concerned Germain isn't going to go ahead with the team now. Website is still up (https://columbuswilddogs.com/) and I've not seen any other blurbs about it but this email has me really worried.
I miss the Destroyers, even though they sucked :-)
Anyone else heard anything?
"I wanted to reach out and wish you a blessed holiday season and update you on the status of the Columbus Wild Dogs.
As you may be aware, our company The TEAM Management operated and managed the Columbus Wild Dogs and the IFL business division since 2019. Earlier in the year the Germain Family elected to not field a team in Columbus for the 2021 season, and we have since unwound our Service Agreement related to all IFL entities, which means that myself, Coach Olive, and our management team are no longer involved with the Columbus Wild Dogs.
We are not aware of what plans, if any, have been made for the IFL in Columbus in 2022. For more information regarding those future plans, refunds or any business inquires please contact Jessica Germain (jessica@germaincars.com).
We truly enjoyed working with each and every member of the Wild Dogs fanbase and we look forward to on our future endeavors in Columbus. "
I play a lot of footy and some things translate so well, imagine that, like hard committing as the last man high up the pitch (donβt do that).
So Iβm just wondering what the spread is like.
Edit: Well this was fun! Obviously didnβt read all the comments but some cool viewpoints from people and I really liked how other sports were compared. Looks like there was a decent split between the yes and no.
Hope you guys had fun getting to know each other a little more!
I'm trying to convince some friends to play in a local flag football league, want to do a practice that isn't too uncomfortable (read: wet & cold) to convince them to do it, at least for our first one.
Anybody know of like, a cheap football-friendly indoor soccer facility? Or a highschool/college in the area with an indoor facility that they're no longer using since its the offseason now? If its somewhere restricted I'm OK with emailing around to try and gain access.
If its a stretch I'll make em play in the rain. But even out-of-the-box recommendations would be highly appreciated.
Both baseball and basketball, the two other "American" sports, seem to have at least a decent sized foothold outside of the US, with several notable leagues and players.
But American football seems to be pretty stagnant, despite the fact that I see no particular reason why a sport would be confined to one area. Are there fewer efforts to spread it? Are there cultural differences that might prohibit it? Would it just be confusing, name wise? Is a better question "why did baseball and basketball succeed in spreading?"
Dear Redditers,
It's me again, previously I asked this great community for some advice regarding artificial grass fields and while I found couple of them due to recent snow + having -8 degree celsius approaching makes it slightly difficult to actually train outside.
We have some "Balloon halls" in my country and was wondering if you could help me to find (or even better - you are aware of any) one inside GrΓΌnerlokka or close surroundings?
The other option of course is indoor fields, but honestly many fields neither have number nor website where I could find any information about it. (thanks Google for nothing).
If by any chance you know either of these options (priority order)
Which I could rent for 1 / 1.5 hrs, that would be great :)
I look forward to hearing from you,
Regards,
Edited to share our experience today!
A few highlights:
A stray kick almost hit us in the faces. Great fun and good reminder to pay attention!
They had Bovril and pie on the menu, but they were OUT! So disappointing. But the sausage roll, hot dog (on a baguette!) and chocolate buttons kept us happy.
I was a knob and brought my Guinness down to my seat, so a polite security guard had to explain that I could only drink in designated areas. No, over there. No, not where the yellow lines are. Yes, in that mass of men. Cheers!
Loved the Womble, loved the cheers, loved that the rowdier part of the crowd was close enough to clap along with but muffled enough that you couldnβt make out the worst of the language.
We only dealt with a few βf* the refereeβ and βwankerβ chants. (The ref DID suck)
I was surprised at how thrilling it was to me when our team scored a goal. The roar of the crowd in real life was amazing
We stayed until the bitter end and stood and cheered for the team as they did their rounds at the end.
While the match was a draw, it was lots of fun and weβve already bought tickets for another game next month. The kids are already angling for an upgrade to a Championship or Premier League game, but we liked the hometown feel of AFC Wimbledon.
Best part, my husband played soccer (I can use the word here as it was in the US!) as a teen and used to watch a lot of Premier League when we were dating, but hadnβt done much more than catch the occasional game since we moved here. He just lit up watching and cheering and clearly had a great time.
Thanks for the tips and for not making me feel like an idiot for asking the questions in the first place.
P.S. My husband edited this to make sure I used the appropriate sportsing terms.
Our American family of 5 has lived here for over two years, and we are just now getting to our first game at our local club (AFC Wimbledon. Yes, we know they areβ¦ not good). The website has very little info about what we are allowed to bring into the stadium (Backpacks? Snacks? Water?). The kids are 11+ and we are not sitting in the family section, so Iβm not sure what to expect as far as rowdiness, etc. My main exposure to football fans have been people on the tube heading to Chelsea games, but Iβm assuming this will be more low key? Iβm probably overthinking things (as I tend to do), but any advice is appreciated! Cheers!
Edit: I just want to say thank you to everyone who has taken the time to comment.
... keep reading on reddit β‘No NFL games, no NHL games, no NBA games
No college football game, no men's college basketball games, no women's college basketball games
Guess you have to spend time with your family
Change my mind.
