A list of puns related to "Indentured servitude in Pennsylvania"
I see sources of "Aztecs did slavery through the court system" but never expands beyond that except in saying if a slave escapes his crimes are wiped clean and if anyone that ISN'T the warden catches him they would take the convicts place.
Who was the "warden" of these convicts?
How would these convicts be housed if there were no prison cells?
How would the sentence be carried out, is it monetary or a time based sentence?
If its monetary, who decides what the work of the convict is worth compared to the damages?
So I'm currently looking for a gm to gm sword and shackles for me and some friends since I had an itnerest on the AP for a while... here is the thing I'm planing on playing as the son of the baron of sargava, looking foward to bring change and modernize the country, while at the same time free its country from the abusive tributes that its forced to pay to the pirates of the shackles as well trying to increase secretly its influence so as to change relations with the shackles by becoming a notorious free captain within it and convincing then to sitll protect sargava from the chelish. of course I would secretly also have a letter of marque from sargava, making me a privatter/corsair of sargava and giving wide acess to its ports and city.
Well here is the thing my alingment is certainly not evil, it is either on the neutral or good spectrum of the compass, since my charachter is going throw this adventure with the idea in mind to free sargava from the pirates tributes and improve things, he probably plans to also use his own crew as privatters of sargava and donate some stuff back to his home coutnry, at least when he don't need it and until he inherit the throne. I plan very much on not atacking most ships from sargava, as well some other nations , as well being very mercyfull towards captives.... with that said I can't work for free, if I'm going to focus on certain types of ships and avoid atacking certain ships or nations I still need to earn some money and since I will be targeting slaver ships with a certain frequency I belive (specially those from cheliax) I would like to ask a few questions ....
so since I don't want to sell the slaves that I capture from the ships back into slavery or even the slavers thenselves I would like to try to come up with two possible solution to the matter, either I would ransom then if they had enough money back to their families and loved ones, or even to their native country if they have money stored back into on their homeland , or as a second option and sadly more likelly... I was thinking on offering either to join my crew or become a indebtured servant.
Indentured servants would either work for my charachter and party or be sold as indentured servants to the sargavan gov or any local business or nobles. they would work for around 3-5 years and be sold around the same price as a slave depending ofc of their skills and such. you can say that on one hand I will be throwing be on harsh conditions either as a ind

It talks about how the original Africans shipped over to Virginia in 1619 were indentured servants rather than chattel slaves, only through a series of laws in the late 1600 did enslaved Africans become property. How and why did this shift occur?
As I was playing Mass Effect 2, I realised the benefits they were selling for indentured servitude were effectively the same that real companies sell as being the major benefits to internships.
You get all the experience for future job prospects but no salary. Arguably that makes the indentured servitude in Mass Effect less morally reprehensible than internships, as you get food, healthcare and board.
Iβve never read into it before now and BioWare really made some deep cuts on real life
So this is a question about servitude and slavery in Runeterra. We know it existed once upon a time in Azir's former Shuriman Empire but what I want to know if it still exists in Noxus and Demacia? Do they use slave labor? Or indentured servants? Identured servants is basically a better word for slavery, you are paid a little bit of money but still forced to do work. Indentured servants are essentially slave laborers who are paid little to nothing but forced to do heavy labor work? Does such sort of ideals exist in Runeterra outside of Shurima? Does Bilgewater and Shurima actively participate in these type of acitivties today or are they of a bygone era? Does the slave trade exist in Runeterra? Have any city-states outlawed Slavery? I imagine Demacia has outlawed it? Do these type of things exist in Runeterra today? And lastly, question about Eunuch, does this exist in Runeterra as well?
I am of Telugu (South Indian) descent from South Africa so I was wondering about this. I know of the Tamils in Guadeloupe Guyana and Trinidad very well, but how come there are so few of any reddys or any other telugus there?
I have heard mixed things about telugus there. Some sources mention them, many donβt. Most mention them maybe once or twice and then just talk about the Tamils even more. So I do wonder. I looked up the name Reddy and the followed it with Guyana and I found like one story of reddys there.
It just intrigued me how reddys are found in South Africa and Mauritius very readily (no pun intended) but not in the Caribbeanπ€ Iβd like to know about the history though if you can spare me the time.
This House recognises that:
(1) British Slavery and the British Slave trade has wide-ranging and long-term effects on those whom were involved within the trade and whom are descended from slaves.
(2) The long-lasting effects of Indentured Servitude among the British, particularly among Indians through the Girmityas System.
(3) That the institution of Slavery in practise ended on the 14th of May 1920 when the British officially ended the system of Indentured Servitude in Fiji.
(4) The legacy of slave-owners and slave-traders is something to never be celebrated
This House urges the government to:
(5) Recognize the place of Indentured Servitude in British history, particularly with a focus on Indian Indentured Servitude.
(6) Officially acknowledge and teach that slavery, due to the continuation of indentured servitude, ended on the 14th of May 1920 upon the liberation of the Girmityas Indians in Fiji.
(7) Remove statues or legacy symbols of British slavers who either owned or traded in slaves as being a legacy of Britain which should not be celebrated.
(8) Remove statues lauding colonial figures who partook in and oversaw the slave trade or in the system of indentured servitude.
This Motion was submitted by the Deputy Prime Minister /u/model-kyosanto MP, written by the Baron Holt /u/Gregor_The_Beggar on behalf of the Labour Party, with an opening speech by model-kyosanto MP.
Opening speech:
Speaker,
Institutionalised slavery is what built the Pacific Islands that were colonised by the British Empire. The displacement of natives, and importation of indentured servants and slaves, all things which were wrong then, and are wrong now.
1,500,000 humans throughout the late 1700s and early 1800s found themselves owned by British men. Transported in squalid conditions for weeks, a situation that the British Government of the era was more than aware about. Used to ensure the cheap production of luxury goods for the wealthy and blissfully unaware back at home in Britain.
The transport of Indians to Fiji especially was something that created lasting tensions and negatively impacted the way of life for native Fijians, as well as creating poverty and poor living conditions for the imported slaves from India, brought over by the British.
Speaker, this Motion seeks to recognise that this occurred and try to right some of the wrongs over a hundred years later. Slave traders do
... keep reading on reddit β‘To start, Iβm in the metro area of a city in a west coast state, which means my hourly rate is significantly higher than most of my counterparts in the lower 48 (I make 14/hr plus tips). The tipped minimum wage in most states is egregious and generally worse than what I deal with so I try to temper my complaints with that knowledge, but itβs also so common that I was more curious about more niche forms of corporate grifting my brothers and sisters of the triangle folded cloth are experiencing, especially since COVID gave owners carte blanche to start experimenting.
When I first started serving this particular master a few years back, 4.5% of our total sales were allocated to tip share for support staff, which included bus/expo, host, and bartender. I donβt have any particular issue with this.. I canβt get my job done without these folks, and even though it sucks paying to wait on tables when you get stiffed, it balances out eventually.
Cooks and dishwashers were paid hourly rates based on their length of employment.. generally 2-6 bucks per hour over minimum wage depending on length of service with the company. After the first covid lockdown, though, BOH was added to the tip share (bringing it to 5.5% of total sales.. a couple other support staff positions had their cut dropped). Although there were multiple reasons this was annoying.. working lunch with no support staff and tipping out the dinner staff, for example.. I still donβt mind tipping cooks and dishwashers, the restaurant and my job donβt happen without them. What struck me as particularly grimy was that their hourly wages were cut back to minimum (I think $13 at the time) and subsidized with that tip share. Line cooks who had been with the company for 10, 15, 20 years were now making the same rate as new hires. In almost the same breath the company announced that after July 2020, there would be no more vacation pay. Didnβt really affect me.. by some form of sorcery, even with plenty of weeks over 40 hours in that time after we reopened, I average 29-31 hours per week (Iβve been cut early lately with increasing regularity, ahead of all the new servers I trained.. 12 over the span of a couple months.. and I would be amazed if the reason was anything other than pulling my hours down enough so even with the holidays coming up Iβll still hit that just below full-time sweet spot). All the salaried managers and the few hourly cooks we had at that point were forced to either take their vacation weeks
... keep reading on reddit β‘I recently quit my job that was $13.50/hr and 25-55 hours a week (not a typo). As inconsistent as the hours were, I struggled to pay my bills, had little to no spending money even on bigger paychecks, had little to no free time as I was working mostly 7pm - 5 am and then sleeping all the daylight away, and on top of that management constantly framed me for things that were undeniably not my fault. Iβve been delivering food with a third party service for two months now and make 1/4th of what I used to and couldnβt be happier. Iβm still drowning in bills and struggling to make it, but I have mental peace and freedom and to me that is invaluable compared to any amount of money. The fact that people work longer hours for $7.25/hr LEGALLY makes me wanna fucking puke. We need change.
