So, I'm an anarchist, and I am not here to debate the core tenets of anarchism. I want to make clear that I don't see the state as any means towards an anarchist society. I believe in decentralized and localized efforts that are community driven.

However, if we are to preconfigure our present world to build the future we desire then is it not imperative to enact climate reforms, and secure rights for the marginalized? We may not participate in the electoral system itself as players, so as not to have it affect our praxis, but the prevailing systems of power aren't going anywhere in a hurry. And, the results of elections have demonstrable effect on people's lives.

At this point, the usual response I might've given before would have been that we must create grassroots networks of mutual aid instead of relying on the state to secure our needs. But, that starts to sound quite thin, when put up against the danger of the (far)right taking control, and of genuine fascism.

The argument would further go, that the participation in the system, even as spectators, amounts to an internalization of it's values. I would contend that it is perfectly possible to be an anarchist to the bone, participating in direct action, and also go to the ballot box every X years, for harm-reduction, and not once compromise their values. By that same logic, working a job in a capitalist system, or interaction with state institutions, something we do much more than voting, should also be as bad or worse.

I'd like to hear both sides of the discussion.

I performed the most recent update on my 2020 Model 3 LR this past Sunday and after the update I wasn't able to unlock the car from the app on my phone, the key card, or having my wife try it from her phone. I called Tesla and they also said they couldn't do it from their end and it would have to be towed to a service center. For those wondering, I did have something installed in the car from a third party but it should not have interfered with the update as it should have allowed the update. Due to this though, I wanted to get into the car before it went to the service center.

I tried Tesla the next morning and they told me the same thing as before. I asked how they planned to get into the car once it got to the service center and the person on the phone said "They have their ways." I took that as essentially saying that they could unlock it for me remotely but weren't willing to do so. I called AAA and their locksmith said they couldn't get into the car without damaging it. I tried several other locksmiths and tow companies with the same results. From the app, I could turn on climate control but the app wouldn't start the car or unlock the doors, trunk, or frunk. I couldn't vent the windows either. After trying everything I could think of, I eventually uninstalled the Tesla app on my phone. I then turned off Bluetooth and reinstalled the app. I then logged into my account in the app and the car and account info was all there. I clicked unlock and nothing happened. I then clicked the icon to start the car and almost immediately after, I clicked the vent windows icon. To my surprise, the windows came down an inch or so. Just enough space for me to stick something through and press the open door button. And the door opened.

I couldn't shift into drive or do really anything inside the car from the touchscreen and it just kept saying that the update failed and "Incompatible Drive System Software Detected" and said to take it to a service center to be able to drive it. I powered the car off, completely removed the third party item, then rebooted the car. It still wouldn't do anything but now the app on my phone said I had an update available. So I clicked it and lo and behold the update worked and my car is now back to normal. Major crisis resolved with just a little heartburn and frustration.

so i have an msi crosshair 17 a11udk-202 and i have an nvidia geforce rtx 3050 ti laptop and i get that message even though im trying to connect with a quest and i dont know if its what i was trying to link with or what because it says all the 30 series are supported

I’m trying to set up air link on new oculus quest 2 and I keep getting this error message. I have an NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1650 graphics card and all my friends are telling me it should be working. I’ve updated my drivers but it still didn’t fix the problem. Any advice on how to fix this?

i have a RTX 3050 and i7 processor. is that fr incompatible or am i missing someting?

Whenever I launch the game it informs me that my operating system is incompatible with the game, this is confusing because I am using the most up to date version of windows 10 available. I've checked several times. I also updated my Video Drivers. However despite this, the game still insists that my os is outdated and constantly crashes if I stay in the main menu for too long.

I haven't been able to find any solutions anywhere. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I’ve literally tried everything to fix this but nothing has worked my windows is updated. I went into the files and unchecked run program in compatibility mode that didn’t work. I verified the game files and have redownloaded it multiple times. I can’t even get into the game it freezes on the 343 logo. I have a rtx 2070 S I7-10750h

I was just curious if anyone had a fix for this. I was invited redeemed my code and downloaded the game. But whenever I launch it I get Incompatible Operating system. And then a black screen with a small circle spinning near the bottom left. And then it crashes, I am up to date with windows, drivers, I uninstalled the game reinstalled, verified the game files.

Throwaway since still in litigation. Anyway, I’ve been in litigation with my son’s mom for 18 months. She has historically been high conflict but using the talking parents app, eliminating phone contact, calling out the outbursts at our exchanges and forwarding to my attorney etc.. she calms down and coparents effectively for the most part. She only seems to be able to do this for 2 months or so and then she starts all over.

She has been doing this at our exchanges (sometimes on the app) which is in a mall parking lot. She starts yelling, cussing and calling me names in front of our son. She does this and the issues she brings up are old, from before our son was even born. We’ve discussed this at least 10 times. She’s been to my home and had dinner with my wife and I for “heart to hearts”. EVERYTIME she gets upset she claims she is the victim, I shit on her, I’m getting everything I want (50/50 timesharing)..

She has been bashing my wife to me at visits. They were friendly at one point. She flipped one day and started making fun of my wife’s disabilities and how “could I chose her and sign up for that life”. My wife stopped helping out with exchanges after that and it’s been months since they’ve seen or spoken to each other.

This last exchange, she did it again. I have had some concerns about our son with his daycare provider that she uses when he is with her. She couldn’t believe that I would accuse her of “neglect”.. I never said anything even close.. Then she went right back to how she has a right to be hurt. She was treated like shit.. It’s not fair that I have a family. We never dated. She didn’t even know who the dad was. I had to force the DNA test..

She won’t stop. She can’t seem to move past the past, this was over 2 years ago.. I try to keep it about our son but she always makes it about her or her and I. Our son is becoming more and more aware and agitated at these exchanges when she does this. Me talking to her about this isn’t working. Please help.

I can't launch the game at all without getting this error message. Clicking "Continue" and "Exit" do the same thing: nothing. I submitted a support ticket 4 days ago with no response.

Here's what I've tried to no avail:

• Reinstalled the game
• Made sure my OS is up to date (I'm running Windows 10 21H2)
• Made sure that my PC meets the minimum hardware requirements (It does)
• Verified local files
• Turned Antivirus off
• Updated my chipset drivers

Any advice from anyone who's solved this issue? I feel like I've tried everything.

I would like to know how i can check a computer for any incompatible software before i run the Office 365 Install routine with Click2Run.

Situation:
I have here a few software developer with a lot of installed software (SQL Server, C++ routines etc.)
They use Office 2016, Visio 2016 and MS Project 2016 also.

I know, when i want to install Office 365 with Click2Run there will be a message that says that is not possible to install Click2Run and MSI products on the same machine i will have to uninstall Office 2016, Visio 2016 and MS Project 2016 first.

How can i preckeck if there are other incompatible products on the system before i uninstall anything ?

I do not want to remove Office 2016, Visio 2016 and Projcet 2016 and then see that there are a lot other programms that are not compatible with click2run - these developer machines are quite complex and i do not want to crash these development environments because i had to uninstall a software to get Office365 to run.

From everything I've been reading, my understanding is that these terms came from back in the days when punchcards and terminals were used.

 

Batch = Group punchcards together to save time

Timesharing = Many people at various terminals can share a CPU

 

Correct me there if I have the wrong idea.. but the main part I am having trouble understanding is how these systems are relevant today. Do modern Windows/Linux/OSX systems implement some variation of either a batch or timesharing system?

I came across this quora post which claims what I've said in the title. But I'm finding it very hard to buy. However being not proficient enough, I want to ask you guys.

If this is not the case in modern linux systems, what steps have been taken to mitigate this and how have they been implemented?

I will greatly appreciate it if you elaborate on how different init systems address this issue ( at the very least systemd and runit ) or if the solution is init system independent.

Am i confused and it just seems like each country’s system of people management is the same when they really aren’t? I am quite sure it is the fault of the British though…

My Goal

I've recently installed the musl version of Void Linux, but I'd like to access DRM controlled content from Spotify and Netflix, which is not possible on a musl system. So now my idea is to somehow run Chromium in a glibc environment. There are two options that I know of. One is to run the glibc dependent applications in a chroot environment, the other option is to use gcompat, though I don't know how and it doesn't have a lot of documentation so I won't focus on it here.

What I've tried

There is an official guide on running incompatible software that only supports glibc systems. I followed the guide and entered the following commands:

# mkdir /void-glibc
# env XBPS_ARCH=x86_64 xbps-install -Sy -R https://alpha.de.repo.voidlinux.org/current -r /void-glibc base-system

# cp /etc/resolv.conf /void-glibc/etc
# cp /etc/hosts /void-glibc/etc

# mount -t proc none /void-glibc/proc
# mount -t sysfs none /void-glibc/sys
# mount --rbind /dev /void-glibc/dev
# mount --rbind /run /void-glibc/run

After using chroot to change to the new root, the guide says that I should be able to run glibc programs as usual. I am able to run command-line applications without problems, but after installing chromium, I am not able to run it successfully.

Anyone else having the issues where you get a message that says, " incompatible operating system version. Please update your windows 10 operating system to the fall creators update (version 1709) or higher." Does anyone know a fix for it? Ive deleted and reinstalled over and over, restarted my pc, checked drivers, windows is up to date and ive tried just about everything I could find it on. Any ideas or has anyone else had this issue?

The issue is, its way too fucked up. I've been trying to write this for so long. Re-wrote it multiple times. Not sure if i should post it here because its not very intense and is rather analytical. Truth is, we often don't have the chance to deal with our intrests appropriately. We feel intrested in someone and we have the option of instantly telling them but how will that work for real? They don't even know you, they prolly haven't even noticed, dealt with or focused on you before. So how do you expect to hear a "yes" when they haven't seen anything from you. Im talking about majority here. I mean i also know how weird it feels when someone you didn't even notice much before confesses to you. Plus, when you do ask someone that you're not friends with, out, you can't tell them "hey wanna try spending time with me and see if we'd have a rellationship?" The answer most likely will be no. To get a yes from that, you really need to be something very eye catching while them being really confident. Aka super stylish/handsome/amusing/funny/deep/intelligentlysupportive/etc. And maybe less than 10% have such a thing. So that really is not your reliable option. The only options will be to either repress and forget the crush somehow or to tell them that you have an idea, that you like them and are intrested in them, WHICH IS A LIE. YOU REALLT DON'T KNOW THEM, how can you like them when you dont know them. YOU MIGHT BE INTRESTED BUT IM SURE YOU DONT KNOW WHERE YOU'RE GOING WITH your confession, you're just confused and want to take an action towards following your emotions. They night even abuse the fact that you're the chaser and that will be miserable. And then there comes when you wanna be friends with them and don't tell them that you have romantic intentions in the first place. Then they will most likely assume everything as if you don't have intentions and they probably won't even consider you that way, they'll just put you in friendzone which isn't even an immoral thing xd. They don't see you romantically and it's not your fault, neither theirs, but this will even take time for you to even establish the dynamic, then you might still like the person romantically and now you probably are invested in them too and this is messed up enough already. Then you would try to figure out how the dynamic is seen by them, to you it might be romantic, maybe you look for deep talks in a rellationship but to them, they might just look for being fun loving crackheads in a rellat

Context, from my understanding socialism is an economic system where the workers own the means of production, they are able to decide what to work on and profit off their own work.

A social democracy is a wellfare state where high taxes allow for plenty of good public services. But at its core its still capitalism because CEOs control the means of production.

It is very common to me to see socialists and socdems in the same parties and asking for the same things in general. To give an american example, bernie sanders, while he says he is a dem socialists, he often uses norway, sweeden and finland (social democracies) as an example. I know there is plenty of leftist infighting, and you could argue bernie isnt a REAL socialist. But I never see bernie asking to take the means of production, he just wants to tax the rich more. I think that is partly why americans think socialism is when the government does stuff, because the only socialist they know is bernie and his policies are socdem from where I see them.

But socialists in the context of capitalism often support socdem legislation. The clearest example I can think of is Uruguay's Frente Amplio, a leftist party composed of communists, socialists, soc dems, et al. And usually this party takes decistions as a monolith because large group of people together strong, its pretty much an aliance of leftists.

My issue is that socialists want to install socialism, but socdems want to preserve captialism and patch it up a bit. Why do so many socialists often back socdem proposes? I know its not practicaly to say "NO WE ONLY WANT REVOLUTION" when you could help people. But in the long run doesn't it make things harder to implement socialism? Is this an "apes toghether strong" (we should work together to achieve our goals)? Or are the short term goals really similar and its worth banning together?

In summary: Socialists often support or even spearhead socdem policies eventhough the systems are inherently incompatible. Why is this? Is it just strength in numbers?
