I'm interested in attempting to create a silicone cast of a friend's head as part of an elaborate birthday present, with the end goal being the production of an ice luge with liquid entering the back of the head, traveling through the structure and then out the mouth into a glass. The issue with this however, is that we don't have experience making such things, and I would very much like to avoid tearing the model's hair out or messing up the cast with a simple mistake. Is there anyone out there with any tips or experience they could share? In a perfect world, an amazing human with a penchant for kooky myth busters style science/art would help us create it! The Bobsleds have finally started sliding in Sochi, so I thought I'd jump on the winter olympics bandwagon. I spent 2 years in Canada back in 08, and most of that was spent on the track at Canada Olympic Park in Calgary, both working and playing (see proof). We had a huge range if tasks and thinking back, we worked in some pretty extreme conditions,especially for an Australian, and did some pretty extreme tasks. Ask away ! My Proof: Edit: Better proof ! So I'm throwing a party tonight and just got a free shot block stand off of craigslist that can hold up to a 40"x20" block. I know Ice Express makes one that is a double luge 40x20x10 for $100, but I am looking for something a little smaller/cheaper. Does anyone know another place I could check out? Preferably inside the loop or off 45 south.
Edit: Thanks for the suggestions. I've decided to stick with the big one from Ice Express, and pray to the party gods that my stand is sturdy enough to withstand 200+ pounds.
