A list of puns related to "I Dream of Jeannie Cusamano"
βAltieriβs wake is tonightβ - Paulie βI phoned in a bomb scareβ - Chrissy βSee now thatβs.. over the topβ - Sil
At the end of Made in America, 3:19 mark AJ tells Tony to "Remember the good times," and Tony interprets this remark as sarcastic and says so, but AJ was quoting him from his toast at the end of season one, saying "isn't that what you said one time? try to remember the times that were good?" Tony doesn't even remember saying this, but it was a dramatic and seemingly meaningful (particularly to tony) moment that concluded the first season of the show, and clearly it's something that resonated or stuck with AJ over the years.
To the toast itself in the season 1 finale, 'I Dream of Jeannie Cusamano' here it starts at the 3:45 mark. Tony gets on to say, "if you're lucky, you'll remember the little moments, like this, that were good. Cheers." This is what AJ was referencing when he tells tony to remember the good times in 'Made in America,' which Tony ends up not remembering. Therefore Tony was unlucky, after getting lucky time after time throughout the series. Tony's luck has ran out.
Coincidentally, in 'Made in America,' we have the cat that some believe to be a representation or embodiment of Christopher. They clearly say twice or three times in the episode that the cat showed up at the safe house, which is when Tony's luck clearly started to run dry. Later in the episode, outside of the pork store, begins at the 0:47 markTony says that ever since Christopher died, his luck turned around. Christopher is back, through this embodiment as the cat, and tony's luck has run out. This is conveyed by his inability to remember a seemingly heartfelt toast in which he told his family, "if you're lucky, you'll remember the little moments like this." Thoughts?
I started rewatching season 1 (possibly for the 8th time) and although Iβm sure this has been observed by most but the ending scene in I dream of Jeannie Cusamano where the family is forced to get off the road because of the torrential rain and happen to be near Nuovo Vesuvio. I thought it have a very eerie resemblance to the final scene at Holstenβs.
IIRC these are the only 2 times that theyβre ever at a restaurant as a family, not including weddings/funerals, just a nice meal together at a restaurant. I get the sense of an Alpha and Omega quality.
Tony delivers his most fatherly and prophetic messages I think of the entire series when he raises his glad to toast before the meal that Artie Bucco cooked in candlelight on a gas stove.
The power outage resulted in candle lighting in the dining room as well which gave the scene that exact same ominous glow that we see in Made In America. Thereβs even a very out of place and never scene again vinyl banner on the wall that reads βBUON APPETIT!β , which for some reason kept showing up and just seemed unusual.
Just so happens Tonyβs core and basically the whole shows core are also all there. Ade & Chrissy are at the bar, Sil & Paulie are having dinner together talking about Tony openly revealing to them that he see to a shrink.
Itβs a big night for Tony. On this night he is basically βthe acting boss, both named and ununamedβ as Sil comment. The FBI has Junior the βacting bossβ in custody, perfectly according Tonyβs plan. Heβs managed to neutralize the threats on his life. He also got a chance to let out his rage on Livia as theyβre carting her off from Green Grove after her βstrokeβ.
In parallel, The night of Holstenβs was also a big night for Tony. On this night he won the war against NY and Phil Leotardo is dead. Junior is once again in a government facility. He has seemingly managed to neutralize the threats to his life.
Also bonus in this episode is Carmela endingggggg Father Intintola in her kitchen.
I've started watching the hit sitcom from the 1960's I Dream of Jeannie starring Barbara Eden and Larry Hagman. I don't believe this is what they were going for in producing the show, but I've concluded that Jeannie is the worst, and Dr. Bellows is the real victim in everything that happens.
Let's consider the facts. What does Jeannie consistently do in every episode? She takes something that Tony says literally, and creates yet another mess which she places him ever so gingerly into the center of. Even if she's not taking something he says literally, she loves to meddle in his life. Everywhere from interfering in his relationships, which always lands him in an awkward position every time, and interfering with his work, yet again landing him in not only awkward but dangerous positions. She consistently defies Tony, and creates messes that they only narrowly escape from. He's had ample opportunity to get rid of her, yet he insists on allowing her to stay around and complicate his life.
Then there's Tony. Honestly, he's not much better. For an astronaut, he's not only a pretty slow learner, but he's not that bright either. He's meant to be seen as the voice of reason but I just don't see him as such. He doesn't learn how to watch his wording, and often even escalates dangerous situations. A fine example is when, once again due to Jeannie taking something Tony says literally, gets blinked to the times of Napoleon. Now Tony, having narrowly escaped several catastrophes before, could have just asked Jeannie to send him back to the present, but does he? Nope. He insists on meeting Napoleon personally, and telling him about what he's going to do. We all know how screwing with timelines can end. Not to mention in this episode, of course, everybody thought Tony was nuts and took him to be beheaded. What does Tony say as he's being placed on the guillotine? "You're making a big mistake buddy! I'm on detached duty to NASA!" Doesn't take a genius to know that NASA didn't exist for over 100 years after Napoleon's death. Another example is Tony wished he could meet King Kamehameha. Of course, Jeannie brings him to the present. This once again could have been solved by simply sending him back, but Tony insists on showing the King the progress that Hawaii has made since his time, which of course results in disaster. While the root of Tony's problems is Jeannie, Tony brings a lot of what happens to him onto himself.
Although I don't think it's meant to look this way,
