A list of puns related to "I'm with You Sessions"
I'm about to DM a 5e game for 5 brand-new-to-D&D players. I have considerable experience with 3.5e/PF, but this is my first time with 5e and my first time on the DM side of the table. Our 'Session 0' went well, nobody fell asleep or ran screaming out the door, and we managed to get everyone settled on their Race/ Class/ Background combos and rolled Ability Scores.
My girlfriend, who has been very supportive of my D&D hobby over the past couple of years but hasn't expressed much interest in playing herself, has finally agreed to give it a try since the other 4 players are all good friends of hers. Needless to say I REALLY want her to enjoy the experience.
In the weeks leading up to our Session 0 she was bouncing around a few possible character choices. After learning, at a high level, what each Class is all about and what makes them special and what differentiates them, she told me she wanted to play a shapechanging Baba Yaga-inspired crazy hermit Druid descended out of the Siberian-like northern forests, complete with fun Russian accent. (The Wild Shape feature appealed to her enough to cement her Druid choice). Cool, I say! Sounds great, right?
Oh, but she wants to have a pet polar bear that she rides around... "Oh... yeah that sounds rad, but sorry, there's not really rules for that at Level 1, and it's actually Rangers, not Druids, that get Animal Companions and not actually until later on, so...."
Well, can I at least have a cool talking raven familiar or something? "Oh... yeah that would be sweet, but it looks like Familiars are actually a Wizard and Warlock thing, druids don't really get them, so...."
Okay, well she at least wants to have some ice-themed spells to fit the Northern flavor... "Oh... yeah that sounds rad, but sorry, I'm seeing here that Druids don't actually get any icy type spells until spell levels 3 and 4, which we probably won't even get to in this campaign, so..."
I feel like it's just one instance after another of her coming up with cool flavorful ideas that I have to shoot down because it's too powerful or the feature belongs to a different class. I know I could just re-skin a horse as a polar bear and have some thing about how it's too cowardly or lazy to participate in any kind of battle, and chalk it all up to "Flavor", but that doesn't feel like it's solving the root of the problem.
Any advice? I built this up as this game of fantastical make believe where you can do just about anything, but it feels like all
... keep reading on reddit β‘I was never too much of an active guy and wear boxer briefs, which are definitely not working for me. Way too much sweat absorption leading to chaffing and what not. I did recently buy some baby powder, but I'm wondering what else I can do to keep myself comfortable down there on longer sessions on not only Beat Saber but Dance Dance Revolution, since BS got me back into my childhood love. I really appreciate the tips guys :)
Edit: I should mention that I shower after my session, but I'm mostly looking to keep myself feeling somewhat fresh during longer sessions. Hyperhydrosis is a bitch when doing anything active.
I'm sure this is all standard practice and nothing to stress over, but anytime there are contracts of any kind involved, I really want to take the time to make sure everything's right and not take anything lightly. I'm just some small-time hobbyist, so I don't have access to my own entertainment lawyers or anything unfortunately.
I've been trying to Google some answers, but there are tons of directions this could be taken and I'm not sure where to start to be honest. I figured there are probably many people here who have experience with this kind of thing who might be willing to nudge me in the right direction, so if you're willing to share anything even remotely related I'm all ears. Basically I'd just like to know:
Thank you!
Edit: First of all, thank you to everyone who left a comment! I appreciate the advice :)
Second, if it's helpful to know, the session that I am running is a modified version of Matt Colville's the Delian Tomb as a oneshot. All I changed was the intro a little bit but nothing mechanical.
My overall plan is to run a series of a few oneshots between this one and the summer and then during the summer to run the Lost Mines of Phandelver.
Thanks again, everyone!
Edit 2: Session is on Sunday, April 13th
The campaign is a pirate style campaign and I am a dragonborn Druid and captain so what should I do with all this money? Also we have a island base we are planning to turn into a pirate town.
I bought this on January 2nd as a belated Christmas gift to myself with the concern I might not get into it. And I gotta say, this game has grabbed me in a way that I never thought it would. I started off getting my butt kicked on the lowest difficulty level, and within this month Iβve gotten to 17 on difficulty and just beat World 14, so Iβm really proud of the progress Iβve made so far.
Now I will let yβall know that I am what the kids call βthiqqβ, and have struggled with my weight all my life. Part of what Iβm trying with this is I am not using a scale. I know it seems counterintuitive, but every time I use a scale with diets, Iβll hit one of those streaks of losing no weight and get discouraged. So instead of worrying about the number itself, Iβm just concentrating on keeping up the routine. And itβs working for me! Today was actually my 11th day in a row, and Iβm still not feeling horrendous. And speaking of feeling, I feel great! Itβs just small things right now (standing is getting easier, I feel more awake, stairs donβt drain me), but Iβm definitely feeling some changes! Because of my refusal of weighing myself, I couldnβt tell you for sure if Iβve lost weight, but I know everything, with Ring Fit and my day to day movement, is getting easier every day!
Sorry for going on for a little while, but Iβm just so over the moon with how this game turned out! The world is engaging, the gameplay is fun, and it really works! I really canβt say anything positive that hasnβt been said already on this subreddit, but if youβre on the fence about getting this, trust youβre friendly neighbor big boy and give it a shot!
