As early as 2010, a proposed extension of the 7 Train from 34th-Street/Hudson Yards to NJ's Secaucus Junction. It was first proposed under Mike Bloomberg, and was studied as recently as 2018 with multiple companies reportedly bidding on the right to help make the tunnel between Manhattan and New Jersey. Such a proposal would:
- Relieve Amtrak, PATH, and NJ Transit congestion between NJ and NYC
- Allow access to the NYC Subway system for those coming in from New Jersey (something PATH doesn't allow without paying a separate fare)
- Prelude for other expansion ideas such as to the Hoboken Terminal
- Would be the first expansion of the NYC Subway outside of NYC.

This makes up the bulk of my nest egg, as I worked in jobs without benefits up until my current job. I had a 1 year vestment period before getting access to my employer matched 401k, there’s currently $1836 after 11 months of contributions matched by my employer
Equity if you're a homeowner: I just bought a house this year! We saved $12k between myself and my partner and combined that with used $60k of the trust money as a downpayment. I now have $240,000 equity in the house. Extremely grateful for this.
Savings account balance: I don’t really have this, I just follow what my (conservative!) financial manager recommends keeping in liquid assets at any particular time, usually about $3k.

I previously would just put dining out on this and pay it off monthly (between 100-300/month). Just got a Chase Sapphire Card before purchasing tickets for this trip, which played into my more free-wheelin spending on restaurants and Lyfts, and I’ll pay it off over the course of 3 months.
Student loan debt (for what degree): None, thanks to scholarships, working during school and my mom giving me money monthly in undergrad, I only took out about $12k in loans to cover living expenses, which I used the trust to pay off in 2014. I used the trust to pay for my masters in acupuncture and worked to pay for my living expenses during that period.

“Nothing surprises me in this industry” – Just Drinks speaks to Tilray CEO Irwin Simon (Paywall)

Irwin Simon is one of the pre-eminent voices in the emerging global cannabis industry. In 1993, he founded Hain Celestial Group, a health & wellness products company that during the 25 years Simon was in charge, became a market leader. In 2019, he upgraded an executive board room position at Canadian cannabis company Tilray for the CEO role and a year later oversaw a merger with Aphria to create the world’s biggest global cannabis group.
As part of the merger, Tilray became the owner of SweetWater Brewing Co, a US craft brewer that Aphria had acquired only a month before for US$300M. Since then, Simon has expanded Tilray further, including with last month's purchase of Colorado’s Breckenridge Distillery.
Meanwhile, Tilray has used SweetWater to buy two San Diego breweries – Alpine Beer Co and Green Flash Brewing Co. In September, SweetWater closed on the purchase of Colorado brewery Red Truck Beer Co.
Simon’s goal is to use the alcohol brands to launch THC and CBD versions of the original products. An avowed brand builder, Simon sees this as an ideal way to convince alcohol consumers to switch to cannabis products.
Central to this plan, however, is a decision that is largely out of Simon’s hands. Before Tilray starts launching cannabis beverages in the US, it must first wait for federal legalisation. Until then - Simon tentatively believes it could take three years - Tilray will continue to run the beverage companies as going concerns. Speaking to Just Drinks this week, Simon discussed his plans for the new acquisitions and his thoughts on cannabis legalisation in the US. The CEO also shed new light on the status of the partnership with Anheuser-Busch InBev and gives his opinion on a recent marketing activation from a rival that promotes mixing cannabis cocktails with alcohol.
Just Drinks: You've bought these beverage brands with the long-term goal of turning them into cannabis brands. Until legalisation happens, you're stuck with being in the straight alcohol business. Was that part of the plan?

First of all, dad jokes CAN be NSFW, it clearly says so in the sub rules. Secondly, it doesn't automatically make it a dad joke if it's from a conversation between you and your child. Most importantly, the jokes that your CHILDREN tell YOU are not dad jokes. The point of a dad joke is that it's so cheesy only a dad who's trying to be funny would make such a joke. That's it. They are stupid plays on words, lame puns and so on. There has to be a clever pun or wordplay for it to be considered a dad joke.
Again, to all the fellow dads, I apologise if I'm sounding too harsh. But I just needed to get it off my chest.
Blackout has a simple concept - it basically takes the Shock Ammo Directive from Underground and uses it as a foundation for the Global Event. The buff gives you the ability to shock NPCs, and the other modifiers enable you to melee-kill NPCs, but you can also shock yourself.

- Always active: Agents are equipped with Shock Ammo that stuns enemies. Shooting or running builds your Charge meter - the more Charge, the more damage you inflict.
- Extreme Blackout
- Blackout behavior, plus you can instantly kill enemies with Overcharged melee attacks, but if you miss you will stun yourself and your allies.
- Total Blackout (Group Modifier)
- Extreme Blackout behavior, plus your Charge meter will cool down faster when close to other group members.
Shock Charge
Every time you shoot your weapon, you are charging your weapon and the higher your charge is, the more damage you do: Charging
With just the Global Modifier active, you will only do more damage, but when the other modifiers are active, you need to keep a very close eye on this charge bar, because when it turns red, you are in danger to be electrocuted.
In addition to that, running also charges your bar, but it will never cause a self-shock, that only happens via shooting, or missing a melee. This is a good tactic to use with a shield and melee the NPCs.
Switch Weapons
When you activate Extreme - or Total Blackout, you always need to keep an eye on the charge above your health bar. As soon as it turns red, you have the risk to shock yourself and depending on the situation, that can get deadly very fast. To avoid that, switch between your weapons. Each time you switch your weapon, you reset the charge and you can start again. Use that

"Captain scion Kurvhed! Get the recorders going, the Grand Eye is activating." I ordered my dear assistant to get the last things ready. The Grand Eye was ready to be activated for the second time in its young existence, that itself being a huge achievement for the project my forefathers started [500 years] ago.
Kurvhed did his part as the white recorder indicator light turned on. I wrapped a rough tenticle around the view controller, gently easing the most complicated version of what was essentially a telescope forward through subspace. Light through subspace was exceptionally fast, more so than any ship so I could do another novel thing and use photons to open thousands of tiny slips back into real space to look wherever I need to.
"Prince General Xan Modal sir, video feed is now being sent directly to military command in real time." Kurvhed informed me, to which I replied with a simple "good" to let him know I heard him.
Remembering recent reports sent back from the Stellar Assembly by our spies, I directed the Eye towards the dread stars area. Immediately I found several large ships hauling telescopes travelling through subspace towards the edge of the region, "following intel leads," I stated so those in watching understoof what I was doing.
Finding a telescope already in place in a nearby system, I then followed what it was pointed at. Calculation systems did what they were designed for and pointed me towards a system near the edge of the Eye's range deep in the dread stars. Getting photons through subspace in that region was... difficult, but child's play compared to a ship so I managed. Focusing in on this system and having image editors clean up the distorted video, it struck me what the SA was going on about.
"Unknown and new alien civilization found deep in the dread stars. Third planet from the parent star is full of activity. Moon in orbit of planet three is... host to what I assume is a naval shipyard." I watched the moon based facility, watching it visibly expand before my eyes. New ships were rapidly being produced at a rate that the Ulgorav Empire would struggle to keep up with across all its systems and shipyards. "I am now certain that it is a shipyard. There are several smaller shipyards in orbit of the main planet. Each of which is host to different ships bearing different symbols."
