Hook is a special film and I know there’s a lot of love for it on Reddit, so let’s get it selected for preservation by the Library of Congress. Film nominations from the public are still open until the 15th of September:

Nostalgia may be a big part of what has given Hook its cult status, but the film has so many great qualities, I think it really stands on its own. Here are some of the reasons I think it deserves recognition:
The Cast
- In an impressive career, the role of Captain Hook is one of Dustin Hoffman’s best performances—he completely inhabits the role. Take the clock-smashing scene: there is no Dustin Hoffman, there is only Captain James Hook.
- Bob Hoskins is superb as Smee and the chemistry between the two characters in this “Don’t try to stop me” scene is perfect.
- The entire cast gives so much to the film, from all the different Lost Boys (who else loves this pirate-smashing move?), to Julia Roberts as Tinkerbell (even if she was called “Tinker Hell” on set, she brings some unexpected poignancy to Tink’s unrequited love for Peter), to Maggie Smith as a perfect wistful older Wendy—and of course, Robin Williams gives 110% becoming the Pan with all his characteristic verve and spontaneity.
Rufio
- The character of Rufio is one of the most endearing and best additions to the world of Neverland. His character arc and >!tragic sacrifice for Peter!< help him steal the spotlight in a film packed with standout characters and arresting performances. Also, the line “Looky looky I got hooky” is quotable gold.
The Aesthetic
- The stunning sets of Captain Hook’s ship, the pirate town, the Lost Boys’ hideout, and other locations were all painstakingly crafted without the aid of CGI, creating a rich tactile environment that helps make Neverland come alive.
- The costumes and special effects complete the otherworldly effect, making for one of the most visually distinctive and eye-poppingly gorgeous films of the ‘90s. The film’s incredible aesthetic got it Academy Award nominations for production design, costumes, and visual effects.
The Music

I remember this being an old movie (maybe 90s). The movie is set in high school and the lead guy likes the popular girl and he had a girl best friend. He was looking at other girls in the movie, and did not see his girl bestfriend as someone he could be with.
Their school was doing a Romeo and Juliet play. The lead guy was Romeo and the girl bestfriend was Juliet. They kissed in the end of the play and the curtain was already closed, but they still kept making out.
Those were the only things I could remember. Hope someone can help me with the title

Made as a tool for my wife's spy game, and I thought I'd share it here. Shout-out u/Philliam_Swift who's d38 Cowboy Champloo adventure seeds inspired me to do this.
Technically this is only a d24 list, because No Time to Die hasn't actually come out yet and we're left to wonder what nefarious scheme the ne'er do well's are up to. I left it in because by the time I was done I was running on spite. I found it difficult to pull a coherent plot from most of the Craig movies, or at least from the synopses I was using.
- An agent of an organization is killed while on a mission to an exotic locale. The local is patrolled by a robotic monster, controlled by a mad scientist. The scientist plans to use a super-weapon to disrupt the operations of a neighboring government.
- Terrorists steal a cryptographic device from a government with the plan to sell it back to them, while at the same time extracting revenge against the heroes for past interferences.
- A wealthy bullion dealer is gathering resources to fund his nefarious plan. It appears at first sight that he plans to rob a gold repository, but really plans to destroy the repository's gold in order to drive up the value of his own gold.
- Terrorists steal a pair of WMD's. They demand a ransom for the return of the weapons. A rich playboy is the liaison for the terrorists, and has the weapons secreted away on his hi-tech yacht.
- The heroes are sent to an exotic land and have to go undercover as natives to investigate the theft of an experimental spacecraft. Terrorists have secreted the craft in a dormant volcano and plan to use it's theft to spur a war between superpowers. When the players find it, the government sends their army of ninjas to help rescue the ship.
- The terrorists have established a clinic as a front for brainwashing sleeper agents. The heroes must infiltrate the clinic and take it down.
- Diamond smugglers are stealing their goods from rivals and eliminating their competition. (Alternate: Terrorists are stealing goods from diamond smugglers in order to construct a WMD-grade frickin' space laser).
- The heroes are sent to a festive local to investigate the deaths of a trio of agents. The agents were murdered by drug smuggling practitioners of voodoo after they discovered the smugglers' crop.
- The heroes are lured to the island lair of an assassin to partake in the most dangerous game, where they will be hunted by the assassin for sport.

Is “Hook” the big-budget disaster it’d been made out to be for the last few decades? Absolutely not. Yes, it’s an overproduced movie, and its almost syrupy sentiment is sometimes off-the-charts, but it’s also a great bonding movie for parents to enjoy with their kids. Whereas “Peter Pan” is an ode to eternal childhood, “Hook” is a big, splashy ode to parenting. You either buy the fantasy or you don’t.
Watching the poster of "Hook" in the local theater of my city was probably the first time I began to genuinely get into Film. It's still among my favorite film posters ever. I didn't get to see the film as a child since my parents were busy and I couldn't go on my own.
Years later, I finally got to see the film and it wasn't what I expected. The sets were surprisingly small, it wasn't as epic as I expected and I became increasingly annoyed by some of the characters (Peter's children). It's unfortunate I didn't get to see "Hook" as a child or I might have enjoyed it more.
Now hear me out. I'm not saying it's his best, or most dramatic or anything like that. But it litterally gave him a chance to go through his entire range of acting. And he does it beautifully. We get to see the full Williams package. From serious lawyer type with 0 sense of humor cracking dad jokes. Then we get the fun goofy Williams. The giant child he's always been. Also the trash talking he throws out at the dinner scene is amazing. I wouldn't have wanted to throw down with him in a insult contest. I really don't know another actor as childlike in innocence, but so serious and father like. Like if you want to show someone how amazing Williams was and how he could be the Genie, and Will Hunting's therapist, this movie showcases it beautifully
Side note: bless the people who had to shave his chest on a daily basis. Special place in heaven for them.
