Hello. Mid/late 20's. I'm planning on leaving behind everything I know in FL to start homesteading in the next 1-3 yrs in Tennessee. My lease is up at the end of this month. I'm a small service (owner/operator) business owner near Disney World. I'm just sick of living here. Been here since the early 2000's on and off (bouncing between here and upstate NY for all my teenage years) I just miss small town feeling, change of seasons. Living in central FL is like living the same day every single day... nothing changes, it's incredibly easy to get stuck in a rut because of how expensive housing is here. A place with 5-10 acres... forget about it! The people here are very rude and aggressive, people don't know how to drive, rant over... sorry...
I've visited Tennessee earlier this year and liked how nice everyone was, the scenery. I've dreamed about starting a homestead, living the country life, and living more freely for years. I figure it's now or never. My lease is up at the end of this month. I've already given away a bunch of stuff, I'm down to the bare essentials. I've "car camped" in my van before but only for 1-2 weeks at a time.
The plan is... take a road trip to some warmer climate states for a while. See areas of the country I've always wanted to see. Then when it warms up in Tennessee, get there... rent a place for 6-12 months. And if all goes as planned (my business is sustainable, I can find work) then buy some acreage and build a little shed house or buy some acreage (about 5 acres) with a mobile home or small 1000 sq ft or so house already on the land. I've got 50k cash and a little over 100k in investments (solo and roth IRA). I'm getting cold feet, I'm scared but I figure it's now or never. I've always wanted to live with more freedom. Always wanted to homestead... and I'm not getting any younger. The money I make here and all the customers I have, it's sad to leave it behind but I just hate my current living situation. I'm beyond done... I need some success stories or words of encouragement. I have family who lives in FL and know no one in Tennessee.
If I bought a house for 270,000 and got 50000 thousand off with monthly payments of 1500. How much should I expect to come off my monthly bill?
A criminal shouldn't be able to use their home like an offshore Cayman Island bank account to protect their I'll gotten gains from seizure.
Preferably something around me or the keys, I dont have a boat but I have a car and skateboard. So any skate spots are also welcome. Ideally im looking for something a little private where i can practice skim boarding without too many people seeing me fall! Hike spots are welcome too, I have about a month of free time before i go back to Pennsylvania :)
