Super fun & engaging volunteer opportunity to spread the message of Yang 20/20!
Volunteer to work our booth at Hmong Village in St. Paul. It is a fantastic shopping mall and produce market with a wonderful food court. We have a booth that we need to staff from now until the primaries EVERY SATURDAY AND EVERY SUNDAY from 11-5, with FLEXIBLE TWO HOUR SHIFTS.
Shoppers are very receptive. We sell merchandise as well. It is a great opportunity to share information about Yang2020. We provide the materials! Parking is free! Entrance to the mall is free!
To find our booth - locate the produce/farmers market area and we are at the back next to a pharmacy and the only bathrooms in that area.
Please feel free to contact us with any questions. :)

The Hmong New Year Celebration is an iconic annual event in St. Paul. The Yang Gang will be staffing a table at the event for 2 days. It is one of our very best opportunities to engage with a huge group of people that we can interest in the Andrew Yang campaign. The attendance will be roughly 65,000 people from around the country over two days. We will discuss Yang's policies, offer voting information, and spread the word. There will also be celebrity appearances, raffles, and other fun and games. We need lot of volunteers to make this event a success. Each shift will have at least one volunteer experienced with tabling and answering the hard questions, at least one Hmong speaker and other awesome YG members. Come and join us! Hey MSP YangGang!
This is a weekly meetup for everything YangGang. We would like to rotate ideas and activities during each week. Lets make this flexible and fun! Come by if you can!
The meetup is casual. I will be drinking a beer, eating some food, while talking Yangstuff. Come by and meet me and the fellows or just come get the feel for these kinds of things. You might like it more than you think.
This coming Tuesday - We will get into text banking. Honestly, I don't know much about this myself, but I figure this is a good way for us to get ourselves into text banking while getting to know each of us.
The best way to get involved in anything is to dive right in.

It's called the Refugee Educators Network - Quoting the website, "With the support of the Central Valley Foundation, we developed a literacy kit for teaching the White Hmong language, with books that can printed and used for free, from any computer in the world'. Containing some links works written discussing the language, history, culture and even music of the Hmong people. There are also texts in French in addition to those mostly in English.
It also informs that 'The Refugee Educators’ Network, Inc., was dissolved in September 2015'. However, There are additional links that you might find useful.

Intro: This report is for a trip we took seven years ago, but we are just now catching up on creating and organizing trip reports for old trips, so we’re putting it here in case it’s useful.
In the spring of 2011 we spent 18 days in Turkey thru-hiking the Lycian Way (LW). Immediately after completing that route, we spent 13 days walking on the Saint Paul Trail (SPT). Finally, we flew to northeastern Turkey and hiked for eight days in the Kaçkar Mountains.
We both thoroughly enjoyed this trip and consider it one of the best trips we have ever taken. The scenery was diverse and beautiful, and the architectural ruins are fantastic. Most importantly the people we encountered were an order of magnitude more outgoing and generous than we’ve experienced anywhere else.
Gear: we use essentially the same gear for all of our trips, so we’re not going to review the details of that gear with each trip report. Our base pack weight is 11-12.5 pounds, depending on the destination and duration of the trip. This is not nearly as light as the ultralight hikers; we backpack for 75-90 days per year, and we have settled on gear that works for us. Details of the list are available on our website, but you won’t find anything there that is a surprise or out of the ordinary compared to lists published by all the other lightweight hikers.
In 2018, Minnesota elected Tim Walz as Governor, and took back the State House in a nineteen-flip romp. Unfortunately, the State Senate wasn’t up for election - so we’ve got unfinished business for 2020! We’ve also got Congressional seats to fight for, and a U.S. Senate race that’ll draw some attention. The Twin Cities are the key to victory, and the push is already under way!
What’s at stake?
State Senate and State House - We need to flip two seats to take the State Senate and gain full control in Minnesota. There are three targets - and six key holds - in the Twin Cities metro. And don’t forget the State House! There are four targets and nine defense opportunities in your backyard.
U.S. House - We just flipped MN-02 and MN-03, and the GOP is eager to win them back. Let’s make sure Angie Craig and Dean Phillips are back in office after 2020! And you’re not too far from MN-01 and MN-08, two districts we can flip back with a strong push.
U.S. Senate - Tina Smith is running for a full term. With a strong turnout push in the Twin Cities, we’ll win her a six-year term!
Ways to get involved:
Local Democratic Parties - There are local parties organized by city, county, Congressional District, and legislative district. Find yours and get involved!
Indivisible Minnesota - A ton of pro-democracy activism and pressuring elected officials!
Indivisible MN-03 - This group worked hard to elect Dean Phillips, and they’re still working hard to advocate for progressive change!
Indivisible North Metro - This is a very active Indivisible group that does advocacy and get-out-the-vote work.
Take Action Minnesota - A variety of political activism, including voting rights and mobilizing communities of color.
re:power - Formerly known as Wellstone Action, this group trains organizers for progressive political campaigns. A great group if you’re considering working with a campaign or running for office!
University of Minnesota College Democrats - If you’re here for school, help elect Dems with fellow students!
