A list of puns related to "Hip spica cast"
My child had been diagnosed with hip dysplasia of the left hip and will require an open reduction with osteotomy surgery at the earliest.
My child was a late walker (at 21 months) and limps while walking. We had seen two pediatricians and a pediatric orthopedic doctor for the limp who all missed this hip dysplasia.
It was only when I insisted on X-rays did they find that the femur is completely out of the hip socket. It blows my mind that so many doctors didnβt detect this earlier.
Post surgery my child will have to be in a full body spica cast, keeping my child immobile for up to 12 weeks or until the hip socket is formed.
Has anyoneβs child in this subreddit had hip dysplasia detected this late (2 years and later)? How was their surgery and spica journey? Do these children go on to have a good quality of life post-surgery?
Sorry for so many questions. Iβm just very overwhelmed.
2 months ago I was struck by a car and fell nearly 20 feet onto concrete below the bridge. I broke both of my femurs and the next thing I knew I woke up in a HUGE body cast that went from my chest to my toes. The next 6 weeks I was stuck in it unable to move my hips, legs, knees, ankles, and barely my back. Thereβs a picture of my cast I posted on other Reddit pages.
However, being out of the cast is awful. I am unable to walk, move, and everything is stiff and sore. The cast gave me support and comfort and now Iβm in near constant agonizing pain. I told my doctor and they said this is βnormalβ. I do not know how to handle it. Iβve been sleeping 20 hours a day basically. A kind voice if you do not have structural advice is appreciated ):
My LO is just starting her BLW journey and we just learned that she has to be placed in a Spica cast on her leg hip for hip dysplasia. I was wondering has any other mothers experienced this? If so what high chair did you use that worked? Currently we have a Graco model that I know she won't be able to fit in once she is in her cast. Also how was your BLW journey? I'm nervous to continue because I'm not sure how will she will be able to sit up in it (it seems like she may have to be reclined back and that makes me nervous for BLW)
Hey Iβm 16 years old. I fell out of a tree over the summer and broke my femur and tibia. I'm in a cast called a hip spica cast. It's the most embarrassing cast ever and it's so freaking big it comes from my toes on both legs up to my belly button and has a bar between my legs. I can't really move at all. I canβt wear pants so I have a piece of fabric pinned between my legs. I just rode sideways in the backseat for four hours to my parentsβ beach house in Florida. Would I get people staring at me or laughing at me with my spica cast and wheelchair if I went out to sit on the beach?
Hi, this post isnβt about me but about my daughter.
16 years old, female, 5β3β, 124 lbs, white, duration is since accident, lower body/legs, asthma (probably not really relevant), no medications
My daughter was hit by a car while riding her bicycle three days ago. Her injuries include a hairline fracture of her pelvis (on right side), a broken right femur, and compound fractures to her right tibia and fibula. They did surgery on her tibia and fibula right away and then put her femur in a traction device.
The surgeon/doctors tell me that no additional surgeries are required at this time. They want to put her in a hip spica cast and discharge her from the hospital to a care facility later this week. I was not aware what a hip spica cast even was, but itβs my understanding that itβs basically like a body cast. They tell that it will run from the toes of her right leg up to her lower rib cage and then down to just above the knee on her left leg. And sheβll have a bar between her legs. The hip spica cast will be on for about 10 weeks.
I feel so bad for her if she actually has to be in a cast like that for 10 weeks! As a mother, I donβt want her to go through something that difficult! Is there any better/alternative way for her to heal? Should we seek a second opinion? Any advice?
4.5 month white female infant (~6.5kg).
My daughter has been diagnosed with hip dysplasia (the right hip), and an x-ray has confirmed this. The surgeon has recommended a spica cast, though has told us it is our decision to use a cast or a harness. He has indicated that it is not urgent.
From the little research I've done, it seems like routine procedure is to first try a Pavlik Harness for children so young, and this is my (admittedly uneducated) preference, given that the cast would require at least two rounds of general anesthesia.
Does going straight to Spica cast at this age seem unusual?
Would there be likely negative consequences of asking to try the harness first, before escalating to a cast?
Are there any questions I can ask the Doc next week to help guide my decision of what course of action to take?
Is there any reading material you'ed suggest that may help my decision making (I have a Ph.D. in applied statistics/economics and access to academic journals. I am comfortable with the statistics side of things, but am cognizant of my ignorance of the particular context).
Ultimately, I will defer to the Doc's expertise, but given that I'm charged with making the final decision, I want to know that I've done my best to make the right one.
Thank you.
So daughter had a surgery at a year and a half old to correct her hip dysplasia. Found out today that we will be having a second surgery to reshape her hip socket. For the first one she was so young and still in diapers. I am needing advice on how to handle the potty issues. Also how to explain this to a questioning and curious three and a half year old.
One of my twin (2.5 year old) girls broke her femur on 1-1-2022 (happy new year to me!) and will be getting a spica cast tomorrow.
The other twin is of course super jealous about all the attention her sister is getting, which is its own problem, but does anyone have any tips about managing one twin who's basically going to be an immobile angry paperweight for 6 weeks?
All the resources I can find online about spica casts are useful for singletons, but I think those of us on this subreddit know that twinlife (or tripletlife, or so on) doesn't quite look the same.
Any suggestions would be appreciated. Thanks!
My son had an accident and will be in a spica cast for the next 6 weeks.
Fuck everyone and everything. The ass from CPS was more concerned with the fact that I kept my maiden name than anything else, I called his supervisor it turns out she encouraged him to ask that since not changing your name is "abnormal".
Screw hospitals that make you fight to leave and doctors that make you wait for ever.
And most of all fuck spica casts, they're gross and smelling and stupid. There's self driving cars but we still put kids in this shit!
Hi parents, I'm really hoping someone out there can help us out. Our 11 month old just got a spica cast for a broken leg, and we cannot find a carseat/transport bed anywhere. The hospital hasn't been able to locate one either, and we may be forced to take an ambulance home and for follow up appointments. They used to make one called brittax hippo seat but it is discontinued and I can't find a used one for sale anywhere. Does anyone have experience with this or know where I might be able to rent or buy something to use? Or any other help of things I'm not thinking of?
The idea of my poor little guy who just learned to walk being in this cast for 8 weeks is awful enough without him being stuck at home the whole time... I don't even know what to do...
Teams will be made up of 3 LCS Pros, 1 Academy, and 1 Rookie. Should be very exciting to watch especially since a lot of people are home for the holidays, and there isn't any competitive content. Definitely a good break from all the off season drama.

I'm excited to see what other pros/players are going to be joining in on the fun.
Looks like a minimum of 12 LCS pros including EG Danny: https://twitter.com/EG_Danny/status/1464100838150868994

Hey guys Spica here and I just want to clarify upon something I've said before. I sincerely apologize to those who were offended by my words. I did not expect the public perception to be this negative and have since regret what I said. I don't even know why I said that I put milk before cereal. To be completely honest I don't even like eating cereal nor drink milk because I'm lactose intolerant. Therefore I take this chance to apologize once more to whom I offended and ask for your forgiveness. This hope to be a learning opportunity for me to be a better member of society and I ask for your patience and kindness in this journey.
Pretty much as the title states. My daughter, just over 2, is in a full spica cast for the next 10 weeks (already been in it 6) followed by a brace for another 8 weeks. This means she can't walk. Now, my question is, how do I stop her from thinking that she gets everything she wants? I try to balance my yes' with my no's, but it's hard because she can't do anything by her self. I move her where she asks to go and I fetch her toys. Her grandmothers are bringing new toys over every time they come to visit. Does anyone have any advice for me?
not everything but this is what i gathered. feel free to comment anything i missed :)
spica reads EVERY single reddit thread.
confident the two ldl players wonβt leave after a year and have longevity
faker 40 million deal was fake
never talked to cryin
never talked to fofo
never talked to chovy
wouldβve been nice to get a doinb, knight, fofo etc but didnβt think them coming to NA would happen
kinda alluded to import rekkles bot if bjerg had stayed
says the team might stay in korea and let academy team play lock in because they want to all come back at the same time
importing from china was the first option for tsm
did not consider jensen because price/buyout and thinks players like jensen and mikyx/vulcan wouldβve been good short term but not long term
tried out bradley at their scout combine (now role swapped to top lane for tl academy)
pobelter tried out for top/ coaching positions/ experience at the scout combine ? (didnβt hear this one to well)
this one is just a personal feeling but felt like spica was talking like he might not stay on TSM when contract is up
idk if it will get some sort of mod-approved post but decided to make one regardless CoreJJ is spectating on his stream and casting alongside CaptainFlowers
players and their streams (if avaliable) [updating with links and stuff]:
Team Spica
Dhokla Spica Spirax (New Flyquest Academy mid) Tactical Breezy
Team Blaber
Game 1 Draft
Team Blaber Kennen / Xin Zhao / Galio / Aphelios / Lulu
Team Spica Graves / Olaf / Twisted Fate / Ashe / Karma
The games are super fun, would defiantly recommend watching. They are a hilarious combo. Super agro and fun. I can't wait to see what happens when we add Huni and two Chinese players to the mix. It's gonna be nuts.
I know there's another post already for appreciating Spica standing up for TSM against dgon, but I haven't seen any post on Spica's reply. Basically dgon was fake news clout chaser as Spica said that we weren't even close to signing a midlaner.
This seems kinda worrying though knowing that we don't even have a midlaner locked in yet. But at the same time, it's nice knowing that Spica has a big say in our roster, so full faith #TSMWIN #BlessSpica
