A list of puns related to "Himalayan Blunder"
Today we are celebrating the 100th birth anniversary of John Parashuram Dalvi who commanded the ill-fated 7 Infantry Brigade on the Namkha chu (river) in the West Kameng Frontier Division of the North East Frontier Agency (NEFA) in October 1962.
Very few today realise that without his courage, we would never have known what really happened during those tragic days of October/November 1962.
When Brigadier John Dalvi returned to India on May 4, 1963, he and his 26 junior colleagues were interrogated like criminals, the government suspecting them to have been brain-washed by the Communist Chinese.
According to his family, this was even more difficult to bear than his days in captivity; he had been kept in a separate camp near Tsethang in Central Tibet, far from his men, in complete disregard of the Geneva Conventions.
Are there any books you would recommend to anyone interested in learning more about this country? I recently finished India After Gandhi and am now reading Himalayan Blunder; any recommendations will be greatly appreciated!
Hello everyone!
I have a term paper that I am planning to write on the Indo-China war of 1962, critically analyzing the diplomatic, political & military failures on the Indian side. My aim is to analyze a few things, namely:
I have a few resources in mind, such as:
Could you please suggest a few more readings for this particular topic, something that could allow me to have a more holistic perspective to the task at hand? If not, could you please suggest ways of finding resources specifically?
TIA

That too was equally intolerant. Doubtless Christ was a great saint. But later, what went on in the name of Christ had nothing to do with him. It was no Christianity but only βChurchianityβ. The saying βThere was but one true Christian and he died on the Crossβ is true to the letter.
The Christians committed all sorts of atrocities on the Jews by giving them the label βKillers of Christβ. Hitler is not an exception but a culmination of the 2000-year long oppression of the Jews by the Christians.
Then came Islam β a long story of βSword and Koranβ written in the tears and blood of millions of innocent human beings. Itβs latest chapter of βPakistanβ, the self-declared theocratic Islamic State, is no different with the entire Hindu population butchered and driven out from its western wing and the same process continuing in its eastern wing. All these have ingrained in their blood intolerance of other faiths.β

CHINA THREAT
As early as 1951, MS Golwalkar or βGuruji,β the RSS Sarsanghchalak, issued a statement of importance to the press at Shimoga, Karnataka: βChina is expansionist by nature and there is every possibility of the Chinese committing aggression on Bharat in the near future.β He was addressing the Chinese occupation of Tibet. He believed that Nehru had committed a Himalayan blunder, which the British had forestalled for so long.
On December 23, 1962, after Indiaβs defeat, Guruji in a speech at the Ram Lila Maidan, said, βI regret to say that despite repeated warnings, the Government preferred to ignore such a grave possibility. β¦Even an ordinary person like me had, nearly ten years ago, referred to the systematic efforts the Chinese were making to enter our territory and entrench themselves in it. β¦ But our leaders were so lost in the goody-goody slogans of world-fellowship, Hindi-Cheeni Bhai Bhai ...that they did not even think of addressing themselves to so serious a problem as thisβ (Shri Guruji Samagra, translated from Golwalkarβs collected works in Hindi, vol. 10, pp 149-150). In the middle of the war, Guruji also emphasised that βwe must establish very close and cordial relationships with Nepalβ¦ if we donβt succeed in this, our difficulties are going to increase.β
