A list of puns related to "Heléne Yorke"
Mod note: We're back baby!! I don't know when specifically the episodes get released now that it's a streaming show, so I'll start making the discussion posts night before! And we get two eps a week now, but they'll each get their own thread. Season 2, let's go!!
Episode description: "With their little brother, ChaseDreams (Case Walker), officially retired and in college, Cary (Drew Tarver) and Brooke (Heléne Yorke) must contend with a new famous family member: their 53-year-old mother, Pat Dubek (Molly Shannon), who's now a wildly successful talk show host. While aspiring music manager Brooke desperately searches for the next pop sensation, Cary juggles a thousand random hosting gigs... and a new boyfriend (Gideon Glick)"
Episode description: "While Brooke (Heléne Yorke) sets out to help her mother (Molly Shannon) connect with her many Pat-hungry fans, enviable new couple Cary (Drew Tarver) and Jess (Gideon Glick) show a young gay man and his daddy around New York City. Later, Chase (Case Walker) debuts a career-changing video destined to get the whole world talking."
Loved it.
Pat’s endless day was hilarious and horrifying at the same time. The talk show with the Dead Daughter Lady was great, the picture was funny, but the apparently rote chant that gets cut off was amazing. Liked seeing Riley from National Treasure and look forward to his jazz album.
Felt bad for Chase all episode.
The celebrities they chose to support Carey were all perfect, I liked how Julianne Moore was the one that really impressed Chase, and it was cool that Patton Oswalt outdid them all. I think Carey made the right choice not to go on the vacation (they really played with the suspense at the end).
Hopefully Brooke can still do her job with the singer. But regardless it looks like her career’s taking off (you can tell it’s a good sitcom because I’m speaking about the characters as if they’re real people).
Streeter got some development this episode not being selfish for once, hopefully he will become better without sacrificing his hilarity (the scene where he puts the knife to his neck in season one is still one of my favorite moments).
Hilarious tag at the end revealing the date ”Carey’s Career Starts”. But I hope next season (fingers crossed for a third season) they skip over COVID. Have a couple flashback jokes about it and move on. It would also give them a chance to age up Chase’s character.
This show is one of my favorite current shows. Big fan of Drew Tarver from Comedy Bang Bang (Lil Damnit Man), liked Heléne York in High Maintenance, loved Ken Marino for a long time from Wet Hot American Summer and Children’s Hospital, and of course everyone’s a fan of Molly Shannon. But even given the great cast, the show really has perfect writing and directing and editing and everything else. One of the funniest shows on TV.
Practically all sitcoms have emotional and otherwise dramatic moments but this show is one of the best at tempering that while still having likable and relatable characters. It never feels like it’s sacrificing the comedy, it’s just being organic and true to its world. Gives time to keep the characters grounded but then we’re onto the hilarious jokes again.
If the powerful executives at HBO are reading this miniscule subreddit, please give us a Season Three! Already tired of waiting for it.
I don't want to step on anybody's toes here, but the amount of non-dad jokes here in this subreddit really annoys me. First of all, dad jokes CAN be NSFW, it clearly says so in the sub rules. Secondly, it doesn't automatically make it a dad joke if it's from a conversation between you and your child. Most importantly, the jokes that your CHILDREN tell YOU are not dad jokes. The point of a dad joke is that it's so cheesy only a dad who's trying to be funny would make such a joke. That's it. They are stupid plays on words, lame puns and so on. There has to be a clever pun or wordplay for it to be considered a dad joke.
Again, to all the fellow dads, I apologise if I'm sounding too harsh. But I just needed to get it off my chest.
Do your worst!

I'm surprised it hasn't decade.
Don't you know a good pun is its own reword?
For context I'm a Refuse Driver (Garbage man) & today I was on food waste. After I'd tipped I was checking the wagon for any defects when I spotted a lone pea balanced on the lifts.
I said "hey look, an escaPEA"
No one near me but it didn't half make me laugh for a good hour or so!
Edit: I can't believe how much this has blown up. Thank you everyone I've had a blast reading through the replies 😂
It really does, I swear!
Because she wanted to see the task manager.
But that’s comparing apples to oranges
Heard they've been doing some shady business.
but then I remembered it was ground this morning.
Edit: Thank you guys for the awards, they're much nicer than the cardboard sleeve I've been using and reassures me that my jokes aren't stale
Edit 2: I have already been made aware that Men In Black 3 has told a version of this joke before. If the joke is not new to you, please enjoy any of the single origin puns in the comments
They’re on standbi
Two muffins are in an oven, one muffin looks at the other and says "is it just me, or is it hot in here?"
Then the other muffin says "AHH, TALKING MUFFIN!!!"
