Long time lurker first time poster here. I have been interested in some better-quality leather boots for quite a while now. Being a soccer player my whole life I have always been wearing kangaroo leather cleats. I said to myself why not get a pair of Kangaroo leather dress boot? Plus, Iβm living in Australia that shouldnβt be too hard! Well I later found out it is actually not that common for using K-leather to make dress boot. RM Williams does do their Craftsman in K-leather, but I personally prefer laced up boots rather than Chelsea boots. During my Internet search I came across this Melbourne based small leather workshop WOOTTEN (https://wootten.com.au/). They make a wide variety of custom leather goods. Everything there is MTO and has a wide range of custom options, which includes a few different choices of leather (Kangaroo included!). What got me extra exciting was they offer to make their footwears in different sizes for your left and right foot! I have been suffering because my right foot is exactly half an AU size bigger than my right foot. For sneakers that is normally not an issue, but for shoes/boots that can lead to some awkward and painful problems.
So I decided to order through their webstore, choose my leather, colour, last, outsole and size, paid with Paypal, almost too easy! 2 minutes later I decided to send them an email with some question about insole (I should probably do this before I order haha). I have flat feet and wear orthotics insole, so I want to ask whether they can leave their original insole out so that I can fit in my orthotics easier. I got a reply saying yes they could do a removable insole without stitching it down, which will give me more options in terms of general comfort and fit. And we exchanged a few follow-up emails discussing about the sizing, colour, and outsole style/material and off to production!
