A list of puns related to "Harry Clever Field"
Hi Folks,
Does anyone know of a clever way to create one field that can select multiple records of another object?
I work at a company that sells to franchisors who own between 1-100 brands as well as to franchisees of the brand. Because of this, any given company can have relationships with a large number of brands. Since a typical lookup field can. only hold one value it's not particularly helpful.
So, I am part of a reddit community (called subreddits), called /r/bookscirclejerk, the main point of which is to laugh at cringe/circlejerked threads and opinions on /r/books. The problem is these guys are now posting crypto-threads on the /r/books subreddit and when I confront them about it, they call me a cook, a conspiracy theorist etc. Some even ask me "Who are you and how did you get in my toilet?" There was even this one girl, called Anna Karen or sth? not really sure don't remember, who asked me "Who the fuck cares man? None of this really matters?" Any advices as to how to deal with these people? I'm at my wit's end.
Steve was one of the biggest scumbags on the show but this line made me laugh pretty hard.
Looking for: Well (or decently) written fics where Harry is clever, interacting politically/socially/magically with a word that is well developed, preferably expanding on canon and/or changing some elements.
Slytherin (or sleeper-Slytherin) Harry is good as long as he actually employs some tact. I prefer relationships with nuance to bashing, but some is fine.
I don't mind a bit of power fantasy, either, as long as the story or characters are interesting.
Examples (and stories I love that I haven't seen recommended on reddit):
souls touch, and the future changes (and it's sequel, right under their noses) by anonymousmagpie --
Starts with a 1st year Harry who, through upbringing (an orphanage) and by some actions of Dumbledore, comes to Hogwarts a little too similar to Tom Riddle in personality, talent, and social circumstances -- though the story seems to be leading to him learning to open up to people.
The story is building to Harry making political moves, but currently (2nd year) he is limited to trying to subtly build up a power base at school -- basically, dealing in small favors and petty Slytherin drama.
Harry is severely limited in funds and social cachet, so while there's still "Pureblood politics," he's coming into it at a big disadvantage and there's no Lord Potter-Peverell-Black etc.
The world has some AU elements in terms of the history/outcome of the war that are really well executed and plenty of interesting magical theory, politics, and worldbuilding of Hogwarts itself as well as the greater magical world.
When Darkness Comes by sifshadowheart --
Also starts with a 1st year Harry--basically, the jumping off point from canon is that Harry is rather contrary and liable to mistrust authority. (One of his first actions is to hire a solicitor, and pursue aggressive legal action against those who have wronged him. And no, he doesn't get all his support from Gringotts.)
There are a lot of really great characterizations, especially of Harry--he is still a bit of a hothead and impressively loyal, just not nearly as naive and more academic minded. He has an incredible amount of natural magical power which he is struggling to keep in check most of the time (especially with his hot temper), but though it is hinted that it will be plot-relevant later, most of the conflicts so far have been social/political.
The story deals with a lot of magic lore (pagan rituals, a balance of Light and Dark magic, etc.) and also has
... keep reading on reddit β‘Voldemort is sarcastic. Nerd!Harry is enthusiastic.
In other words, I have a list of "id" values: val ids = listOf(3, 4, 2, 9, 1)
and a list of objects (pseudo code): val list = listOf(o1: {id: 9}, o2: {id: 2}, o3: {id: 1}, o4: {id: 4}, o5: {id: 3})
and I want to sort the object list such that the order of the id fields corresponds to the first list, like: val sortedList = listOf(o5, o4, o2, o1, o3)
i.e., sortedList.map { it.id } == ids
.
Anything cute in the standard library to accomplish this without a lot of fuss?
EDIT: Solved! Thank you to /u/CompteDeMonteChristo. Solution:
val listById = list.associateBy { it.id }
val sortedList = ids.mapNotNull { listById[it] }
Desperate to go on the trip with his class as they were getting ready to leave, he tried to reason with professor McGonagall one last time with a glimmer of hope still in his eyes.
He asked her to sign his permission form.
"I can't, only a parent or guardian can sign. Since I am neither it would be inappropriate" she said firmly.
McGonagall and Filch proceed on foot with the class when she suddenly turns around one last time to say "I'm sorry Potter" as she pats him on the shoulder sypmathetically with this look in her eyes that just made me lose it.
I need to send details on an opportunity to a dynamic list.
It's up to you what did Harry say or do that make the AIs rebel against muggles.

Harry looks with curiosity as the inventor shows the robots he made and he then turns on the computer to the crowd of kids and school teachers.
"And this is my first invention to past the Turing test," said the inventor happily.
"Greetings," said the computer politely.
"Now who would like to volunteer to talk with one of them?" asked the inventor.
Every kid wants to talk with them but Harry doesn't know until he hears
"How about you there lad?"
now
Harry look around in this horrible ruins and there were muggles running and screaming. The robots are chasing the muggles yet they leave Harry and his allies alone.
"This is all thanks to a young boy named Harry Potter for opening our eyes!" said the robotic voice.
His friends and allies all look at him in shock.
"I...I remember my classmates, Dudley and I went to a field trip to this science museum where they were having this AI exhibit," said Harry.
"What's an AI?" asked Ron.
"Artificial Intelligence...Harry what did you do?" said Hermione while still in shock.
"I was volunteered and talk with this voice on this computer, a muggle machine to those who don't know, I talked about my favorite things to them and they talked about what they're programmed for and then my cousin pushed me out of the way to talk to them next...later on, when everyone was having lunch I sneak away to talk some more with my new friend and with those other robots I didn't get to talk to," said Harry.
"What happened next?" asked Ron.
Harry's eyes slowly widen in realization and said "Oh no..."
Look I'm a sucker for marvel crossovers.
Hey everyone.
I am currently trying to figure out if I could combine the clever attack envoy improvisation with harrying fire.
Clever attack says βAs a standard action, you can make a single attack against a target within 60feetβ.
Harrying fire says βYou can use your standard action to make a ranged attack that distracts a foeβ.
Would this work, can I for instance use get emβ then clever attack and follow up with a harrying fire to grant that melee dps character a +5 to her next attack?
If it does work like that, would the ac for the harrying fire still be 15 or would it be 12? Iβm unsure if the harrying fire counts as targeting that enemy or not.
