A list of puns related to "Growth hormone deficiency"
Hoping to join the Marines and I was on anxiety medication for maybe a month and I went to therapy for probably a month too. This was probably 10 years ago by the time Iβll be old enough to go to meps. For growth hormone I was on it for 7 years and Iβve been off of it for 3 years. My doctor said that I didnβt need to take it anymore and my deficiency wasnβt that serious as others. Also I have a little bone in my ear that doesnβt effect me and my doctor even had a hard time finding it because it was small but itβs on my record will this affect it?
$OPK announced today that the FDA has extended the review period for the Biologics License Application (BLA) for somatrogon, a once-weekly long-acting recombinant human growth hormone, for the treatment of growth hormone deficiency (GHD) in pediatric patients. The Prescription Drug User Fee Act (PDUFA) goal date has been extended by three months to January 2022, as a result of Pfizerβs submission of additional data to the original BLA.
Hello, I am looking for some general answers/advice from anyone who would be able to help. When I was 11 I had been diagnosed with GHD & was on Tev Tropin for 4 years following that diagnosis. I had all of my regular check ups & tests in between to monitor my progress etc. So once everything was finished I was 15. During this time I had Medicaid insurance so I frequently had to switch doctors around due to no longer being covered & upon finishing these treatments I went back to seeing a regular pediatrician. My condition was never followed up on ever again after that & me being a teenager I didnβt think much of it, I just assumed since the shots were finished I was treated & could put all of it behind me. Anyways fast fwd to now I am 24. Iβve always been a very active person working long hours, holding 2, 3 jobs at a time & finding time in between for my other hobbies including skateboarding & suchβ¦ as far as any health issues Iβve had- 1. I have dealt with musculoskeletal pain since a child that varies in severity & the cause of that was never found out so Iβd always ignored it for the most part. 2. Iβve always been incredibly skinny my whole life & have actually stayed in the same weight range since Iβm 15 years old (89-99lbs with my average being around 95) but ate a lot despite this & even had high cholesterol at one point. -This year, my pain flare ups have greatly worsened, Iβve lost even more weight now weighing 86 lbs (I can gain 3 lbs in a day then immediately lose it overnight) & my bones are degenerating to the point where Iβm at the tail end of osteopenia almost at the score for osteoporosis. More than ever I feel greatly fatigued with minor activities & after working in the fast food industry all these years I am starting to feel it so bad that I am unable to work the way I used to. Aside from pain, dizziness, & muscle weakness I have always dealt with extreme tiredness falling asleep in all of my classes in my school days to the point of vivid dreaming. This tiredness has increased this year as well. I can fall asleep anywhere, anytime as long as I am in a seated position. Driving for 30 min periods is enough to tire me out for an entire day & my knee feels weak/pain on the pedal. My rent is high so Iβve always done what I had to do to get by but now Iβm not sure what to do as my health has halted me. I am no longer to enjoy my hobbies the

I'm prob grasping at straws here but I thought I'd ask.
I also have a large history of Alzheimers in my family and have been on a bit of a science binge over the past year after my grandad has almost been rendered braindead and my mother at 51 has also started to show signs.
More that I think about it and look I to it the more it makes sense but what's the possibility that these hormones would slow the progression or be preventative to Alzheimers & Dementia?
Seems like any deficiency of these hormones causes neurological damage which Men/women get at an older age.
HGH: 'GH is involved in neurogenesis, myelination, and synaptogenesis. GH is also implicated in adult brain functions, including learning and memory, locomotion, psychological behaviors, and neuroprotection'
Testosterone: 'Low testosterone may also increase your risk for neurodegenerative disorders like Alzheimer's and mild cognitive impairment. Several studies link hypogonadism with an increased risk for Alzheimer's disease. However, recent studies show that testosterone replacement may help reduce this risk.'
Estrogen: 'Oestrogens affect the development and aging of brain regions that are crucial to higher cognitive functions (like memory) and are implicated in neuropsychiatric disorders such as Alzheimerβs disease.'
After learning all this, would this mean using replacement dosages of Human Growth Hormone (1-2iu) at age 40+ as well as testosterone replacement therapy to normal male testosterone levels when men start having a deficiency actually be a very strong theory to prevent Alzheimers? The estrogen would come from the aromatization from the testosterone which would cover all 3 deficiencies.
Let me know your thoughts or if I'm being an idiot, I know there is Aducanumab on the horizon for the UK but we will see if the NHS will fund it. Not sure if I can post links to all the research papers I've had a look at. If anyone wants them and I'm allowed just let me know in comments and l'll put them in here. Really interesting reads.
Thank you!
So I'm pretty much replacing all my hormones and have been since about 8 years into Narcolepsy.
Since N is pretty much now considered autoimmune in most cases it makes sense.
Different endocrine systems started falling like dominos in slow motion. I'm on hormone replacements from thyroid to cortisol (adrenal glands)
I'm wondering if anyone else is going through this. I also have low IGF1 which is related to low growth hormone (which I have all the symptoms of, including weight gain and body temp irregularities). GH is made during stages 3&4 which we don't get a lot of and studies are linking low IGF1 and GH to Narcolepsy.
To me, it makes sense my hormones are falling since N is usually Autoimmune & I think my whole hypothalamus got attacked, not just the ore in cells.
The hypothalamus (where Orexin cells are) tests your blood for hormones and then dials the pituitary and tells it what to make more or less of. The pituitary then sends out a signal.
When they do some testing for adrenal insufficiency they use the same stuff the pituitary sends out & they can tell if it is the adrenals with the problem or the pituitary-hypothalamus (but they can't tell if the pituitary is not calling the adrenals or if it is not getting notified by the hypothalamus).
For growth hormone test (if your IGF1 is low it indicates low growth hormone) the use the transmitters that your hypothalamus sends to the pituitary because the pituitary makes it.
Mine responds and makes GH, but there is no way (that I know of OTHER than low IGF1, which I have) to tell if the hypothalamus is sending the signal to it to do so.
In order to get GH approved insurance requires a failed growth hormone stimulation test, failing to see that if the pituitary never gets the signal it can be anatomically capable but functionally not.
Does anyone have an idea, or have had success with getting insurance to approve GH without failing the stim test?
Anyone else having lots of other low hormones?
GH deficiency symptoms:
A person who has too little adult growth hormone will have symptoms that include:
A higher level of body fat, especially around the waist
Anxiety and depression
Decreased sexual function and interest
Fatigue
Feelings of being isolated from other people
Greater sensitivity to heat and cold
Less muscle (lean body mass)
Less strength, stamina and ability to exercise without taking a rest
Reduced bone density and a tendency to have more bone fractures as they ge
... keep reading on reddit β‘A little over a year ago I was diagnosed with growth hormone deficiency and started treatment for it. I was able to get a little bit more height but unfortunately, my body stopped responding to it recently. I am super passionate about the military and my condition seems to not be prohibiting me from doing anything physical/ mental as I am a good athlete and a straight A student. I was not very well educated on DQs and waivers in the military, but I did know that failure to treat it was a DQ. My dreams were crushed until someone told me I could get a waiver for it. So ultimately, my question is how hard would it be to get one?
I havenβt been asked this in so long, mostly because Iβve been isolating myself a lot (not because of covid).
Today at the barn I ride horses at, a girl who always helps me out asked me my age. When asked this, I always say βA lot older than you probably thinkβ to try and ease their inevitable shock before I tell them my age. I said that, paused, and then said βIβm 19.β
Ugh. The reaction is always the same. βOh...WOW. I thought you were 12!β (Sometimes they say 13 if Iβm lucky...)
I never developed during puberty. The only physical change was menstruation, body hair, and sweatiness. I never grew after 6th grade. I started developing breasts in middle school but they never actually turned into anything, so I donβt normally wear bras since none of them fit. I have 3 bras to my name. All too big for me, but theyβre padded push-up bras and I wear them in hopes that Iβll look at least 12 and not 10 (Iβll wear them in classes or at the barn, etc.) My voice often gets mistaken for a little kid. When I, on the rare occasion, meet women around my age who are my height, they always have a much deeper voice. You can tell their age usually. I know everyone thinks their voice is high-pitched and annoying, but I do voice-recordings all the time for classes. Iβve gotten used to my voice and I know what it sounds like.
When I was 14, my doctors had me tested (bone x-rays and blood test) because they were so concerned. They found nothing wrong with me. My relatives are relatively short but not to my extent, and relatives my age donβt look like little kids.
And Iβm so fucking sick of the βteehee, youβll be glad when youβre older!β I get from middle-aged women who are miserable with their wrinkles and gray hairs. When I was 14, people thought I was 12. When I was 15, people thought I was 12. When I was 16? 12. 17? 12. 18? 12. 19? You guessed it, still 12. Iβm screwed. I donβt even have good skin genes, itβs all thin and easily sags around my mouth (thanks mom), so itβs not like Iβm gonna be some rare beauty when Iβm older. There is no upside to this. Iβm tired.
I have an empty Sella on mri and recently had a glucagon suppression test. It involves about 5x blood draws over a period of 3 to 4 hours. After they inject glucagon my gh response was zero.
I know empty Sella and hormone issues can be associated with EDS but suspect not many of us actually get tested for gh deficiency. Just wondering if anyone here has gone through this and if GH treatment made a big improvement?
Jumping on the trend of raising medical awareness here. I was diagnosed with a more severe form of growth hormone deficiency. I was diagnosed and started growth hormone therapy when I was 14 months old. I still take it as an adult in my late teens, and will likely be taking it throughout the rest of my life. AMA.

I'm male in uk and don't mind answering questions to help people with this condition
Iam currently receiving testosterone replacement due to secondary hypogonadism. Iam still very young. Delayed puberty. I have a lot of body hair and normal voice but iam short. Small genitales. Thin frame. So iam questioning myself what if testosterone isnβt the problem but rather growth hormone. I heard that growth hormone test isnβt accurate because itβs mainly released during nigh at pulses. Can I test something else?
Hello. I recently turned 15 (im male) about 3 days ago, i've been getting worried about my growth since i may not be possibly normal? I guess? First of all i have parents who are short, mom is 4'11" dad is maybe 5'7" - 5'8". I also have an abnormally short sister at 4'9". I just had my height checked and im still at 5'2.2" (158cm). I am also overweight at 65kg, i have only grown about maybe 1.6 inches per year from 4'11" to 5'2" and i have been growing very thin bits of hair on my upper lip and i even have one very thin piece of hair on my chin (literally just a single one). I've taken the tanner stage test and found out that im at 2.9, i've heard online that even a tiny amount of facial hair at this stage is abnormal. Do i have growth hormone deficiency syndrome or am i just being anxious for no reason?
Edit: forgot to mention that i am ethnically from southeast asia (filipino) I've been told that our race doesn't really grow a lot of hair, i also have a lot of hair on my legs, (they look like theyre an adult's)

Background: Growth failure and growth hormone deficiency (GHD) have been reported as one accessory feature of GLUT1 deficiency syndrome (GLUT1DS), considered so far as a long-term adverse effects of ketogenic diet which is used to treat this condition.
Case presentation: We report the case of a 10-year-old Caucasian boy referred for short stature (height - 2.56 SDS) and delayed growth (growth velocity - 4.33 SDS) who was diagnosed with GHD and started treatment with recombinant human growth hormone (rhGH). Because of his history of seizures with infantile onset, deceleration of head growth with microcephaly, ataxia, and moderate intellectual disability, a lumbar puncture was performed, which revealed a low CSF glucose concentration with a very low CSF-to-blood glucose ratio (< 0.4), and genetic tests detected a SLC2A1 gene exon 1 deletion confirming a diagnosis of GLUT1DS. Ketogenic diet was started. After 5.5 years of rhGH treatment his height was normalized (- 1.15 SDS). No side effects were reported during treatment, particularly on glycemic metabolism.
Conclusions: This is the first case of GHD in a Caucasian boy with GLUT1DS diagnosed before starting ketogenic diet, with a good response to rhGH treatment and absence of side effects. We speculate that GHD may represent a poorly recognized clinical feature of GLUT1DS rather than a complication due to ketogenic diet. Under-diagnosis may derive from the fact that growth failure is usually ascribed to ketogenic diet and therefore not further investigated. Pediatric neurologists need to be alerted to the possible presence of GHD in patients with GLUT1DS with slow growth, while pediatric endocrinologist need to refer GHD patients with additional features (motor and cognitive developmental delay, seizures with infantile onset, deceleration of head growth with acquired microcephaly, movement disorder with ataxia, dystonia, and spasticity) that may suggest GLUT1DS.

I was 4β10β Freshman year of high school and by Senior year I was over 6 feet tall, so I stopped taking the injections. I just graduated college and I still look 17 years old. I have a very immature body, a pretty high pitched voice, and a face that makes me look like Iβm still in high school. If I had kept doing the injections would I have continued to mature and would I look my age now, or is this just the way I am? The injections took me all the way through puberty (I think) but Iβm wondering if I stopped maturing because I stopped taking growth hormone or if that is normally what people do and I just have a young looking body and face?
So Iβve been taking HGH for a while now and I just recently got into working out consistently does taking it make me juice instead of natty even though my body doesnβt produce itβs own? It should be noted Iβve been taking it over 10 years now.
So got some lab work back today...nothing shocking. Prolactin at an all time high of 79, cortisol at about 20, and most interestingly....growth hormone "<0.1".
Does anyone know anything about this?

I have it and I don't think I've ever met someone else who has it.
