I am a 24 year old that has a job in Sunset Park and I would like to live near my job but not in Sunset Park. South Slope is a great area that lots of cool restaurants, bars, and stores so I would love to look there for a place where we each can get a room for about $1,000 or a little bit more. Message me if you want to talk.

Just trying to reach out to everyone!
I found a cat on my stoop in Brooklyn today (April 23) on 29th street, between 3rd & 4th aves. It's a super-friendly dark tabby with white boots on all 4 paws (although the front-right paw only has a small white spot). There's also some white on his chest. All four paws still have claws. He is likely between 2-6 years old.
The cat is obviously domesticated (and box-trained), and I've seen it in the street before. Jusdging by the condition of its coat, it's likely an indoor cat that had been outside for several days.
When I saw it and pet it, and it began crying and rubbing on me. As I walked down the street, it continued to cry and began following me. tl:dr, I'm not in the habit of letting defenseless animals fend for themselves on the streets of Brooklyn, esp. when they're clearly not from the street. So, I've taken him in and am caring for him.

Iβm currently living in Jersey City and considering a move to Brooklyn (Iβm originally from queens). I want to be near the Brooklyn Heights area or within a 20 min Uber ride to be closer to friends, but I honestly think Iβm priced out. Iβm looking for 1 bedrooms under 3k and everything seems so expensive. I really donβt want to live in a 3rd floor walk up. I could potentially do a lower floor but those are harder to find.
I live in a newer building in Jersey City and while I understand that Iβm going to be making some trade offs to live in the city, I want to find a good spot that I donβt feel sacrifices my quality of life.
What are some good neighborhoods to check out that would give me good access to lower Manhattan?
Hi All, I'm looking for some one to take over my lease so i can relocate for work. The sooner the better. The apartment is very nice, has washer dryer in unit, dishwasher, 2 full baths, Verizon Fios internet and is the quietest building ever. Pet friendly and responsive landlord. Really would love if anyone knows anyone who might be interested.
Welcome to the 23rd post of this discussion series.
With everything that happened in 2020, our wiki is in desperate need of updating. Because of this, we are going to have 3 discussion posts a week, each about a different area of town, on Mondays, Wednesday, and Fridays. I am running these through a random option picker so that we get a smattering of different areas instead of working from downtown out.
Specifically, we want to hear from people who LIVE or WORK in this area, but please feel free to share your favorite places and things to do in that area as well if you don't live or work there.
For this post, we are focusing on Porter Heights/Greenwood/Eastwood/Rosebank, vaguely circled here.
While some of the areas discussed will be pretty large in these various posts, feel free to just talk about whatever part of that area you want to. I have to include a bunch of neighborhoods in some of these posts or it will take the whole year to get through the whole county lol.
I am aware that these maps may not be the perfect indication of that area but just roll with it. This doesn't have to be super specific.
Please discuss:
what it's like to live there (how are the apartments/houses, any you'd recommend?, what's the parking situation like? can you hear bachelorette parties wooing? can you walk to some great coffee shops pretty easily?, what are the schools like if you have kids? roughly how much is the rent for a 1-2 bed apartment?, etc.)
favorite places to eat/drink (please check and see if they have permanently closed because of the tornado or covid)
favorite things to do (are there any cool music venues? art galleries? nice places to take a walk?)
anything else you think people should know about that area.

... keep reading on reddit β‘Despite all of their recommendations and their 4.6 star rating I have to say that this was one of the worst pizzas Iβve ever eaten in my life. The crust was so burnt you couldnβt eat it not to mention that the pizza was just incredibly greasy and you couldnβt even tell that there was cheese on it which baffled me. I also ordered anchovies on the side and they were just thrown in my box so hard that the cup opened up and spilled grease everywhere and it was incredibly over priced. It didnβt taste good at all which is really upsetting because like I said it wasnβt cheap.
Brooklyn's first supertall skyscraper officially reaches its full height

I am a healthcare professional working full time near Brooklyn Heights. I am planning to end my current lease at the end of March.
Message me if you have an open room or need a potential roommate.
The Setup:
It's August 1776. Following the Battle of Bunker Hill, British general William Howe begins consolidating British troops to prepare for an extended war against the American revolutionaries. He lands at Staten Island with 30,000 men with the goal of capturing the strategically important city of New York. To do this, however, he must first capture the Brooklyn Heights, a section of Long Island that overlooks both Manhattan and New York harbor.
If he is successful, history will play out normally and New York will fall to the British.
A company of time-traveling paratroopers have been sent to make sure that doesn't happen.
The Shakeup:
Easy Company of the 101st Airborne, battle-seasoned and supplied to full strength, have just made a combat jump into the Brooklyn Heights ahead of the British landing and have linked up with Washington's existing force of ~11,000 soldiers. Together, they must defend Long Island against a British force of 30,000 soldiers and prevent the capture of the Brooklyn Heights.
Easy Company jumps with a full combat load, bringing 172 paratroopers armed with M1 rifles, several light machine guns, no more than 3 marksmen rifles, and a single 60mm mortar. They have all the ammunition, logistical supplies, and communication equipment they would normally be equipped with, but have no additional reinforcements or heavier equipment or vehicles.
Can Easy Company's arrival turn the battle in favor of the Continental Army? Can a band of brothers turn away the British landing?
Bonus Round:
Now, our time-traveling soldiers are from a modern U.S. Army Ranger company instead of a WW2-Era airborne company. Again, they will be airdropped into Brooklyn with their normal combat equipment but without any vehicle support or additional reinforcements. What is the smallest force of modern infantry that can turn the battle in favor of Washington's forces?
[Article detailing the strength of a WW2 Airborne Rifle Company]
Hi, I am targeting the pre-Dutch arrival Brooklyn Heights, to imagine what species of coastal trees existed along the rim of that area. I imagine it would have the same as the tip of Manhattan, which had hickory trees along the battery, I assume. Furthermore, when it came to Native Americans, specifically the Lenape activities, I never found a map that indicated Lenape trails in that area, so I imagine there isn't any official log of Lenape activity there. However, if there were canoe sites at the tip of Manhattan, I imagine there were some activity not far off in Brooklyn Heights. If any one knows something about it, whether an article or map, that would be great.
