Another. guy stands up and says "that's my dog, is there a problem?"
"I'm sorry to tell you, my dog just killed your great dane."
"I can't believe it! My dog was a powerful, savage beast! I raised him from a pup to be a killer! What kind of dog do you have?"
"A Chihuaha."
"You've got to be shitting me! How in the world could a Chihuahua kill my huge dog?"
"It got stuck in his throat."
(Collected many years ago from Seamus Kennedy)
Edit* thanks to everyone who helpfully explained why dog breeds are the same species, and why alligators and crocodiles arenβt. I just wanted to clear up that I wasnβt arguing that a chihuahua and a great dane should be different species, just that itβs bizarre to think about them being the same one.
But if we want to argue; Many dogs could never actually mate without human intervention (artificial insemination), this would make them practically separate species in nature. Itβs not a real argument, Iβm just having fun.
I've rented at this house for two years now. Our next door neighbors have stayed the same the whole time, though we've never talked to them. We have a shared yard with no fence between us.
About 9 months ago, I brought my pet chickens outside into an enclosed run so that they'd have a better life outside rather than in my living room. We have 5 hens, which is completely allowed in our city. We wrote them a letter about the chickens when we first started building the run, to explain the construction noise and the new structure (size of a shed) in our backyard. We never heard back from them. We even offered eggs to make up for it, still nothing.
There's a very active train line that runs literally right outside our backyard, so our houses are soundproofed very well and I figured the occasional egg calls from the chickens would be blocked by that soundproofing. We have wild tom turkeys that sleep in the tree between our yards that gobble at 5 am anyways which we can't control so we figured they'd be used to it.
I clean the chicken coop and run multiple times a week and use pine bedding, so it never smells unless one of the ladies like JUST dropped a very stinky poop. Despite all that, anytime we wave or try to talk to them, they ignore us.
Our neighbor started dating a new woman recently who has a big great dane who is a sweetheart. The girlfriend is a sweetheart too and likes to sit in the backyard and watch the chickens. I've waved and exchanged a few words with her, which is better than we've ever gotten from her boyfriend. Only problem is, they leave their Great Dane's giant poops in the yard and don't clean them up for days on end. The smell is like 100x worse than anything the chickens have ever produced. I was sitting in the chicken run and I could smell the dog poop so strongly even though it was a good 10 feet away.
WIBTA if I asked them to clean up their poop? Even though I've probably already annoyed them with the chickens? I'm honestly surprised the boyfriend is okay with the poop being left in his yard, but whatever.
Hi! I have a European Great Dane who just turned 1. We have struggled finding her the best food and I decided on zignature duck formula but her itching has become exponentially worse. Constant yeast ear infections and hot spots. Iβve been looking for a food that works best and have been researching for months and still canβt figure out what the best option would be and would greatly appreciate some advice:). I would do the raw diet but she eats about 3000 cals a day and is 190 so she eats A LOT.
