Recently I became aware of a lesser known child serial killer who had a large impact on Omaha and its surrounding communities in the 80’s. His name is John Joubert and he was responsible for 3 child killings across two states. He’s brought up because I feel that John Joubert’s background and profile of a socially stunted childhood, high intelligence, forensic knowledge, youth organizations, military background, sadistic tendencies, kidnapping to second site, signatures, and posing of victims reminded me so much of how I’ve interpreted the Delphi killer. Below is some background on his escalation and eventual killings. Apologies for the length.
John Joubert began having sadistic tendencies at the age of 6 when he fantasized about killing his babysitter. At age 6 his mother divorced, forbade him to see his father and discouraged him from developing friendships with his peers. He grew up feeling as an outcast in school and sought companionship by joining the Boy Scouts eventually becoming an Eagle Scout at age 17.
He was of higher intelligence with an IQ of 123 who began reading at age 3 and checking out library books at age 5.
At age 13 he began acting out these fantasies and felt sexual gratification through inflicting fear, dominance, and pain on others. In less than 4 months he would proceed to stab a 6 yr old girl with a pencil, knife a 9 yr old boy’s throat after coaxing him into the woods, and knife a 27 yr old teacher on her walk to school. He would call these events “practice” for his eventual escalation to murder. John Joubert had slashed these victims in the same Oakdale neighborhood he threw papers in.
He grew up in the Northeast with his first murder occurring in Portland, Maine. Eleven yr old Rickly Stenson was jogging in Back Cove trail park on 8/23/82 when 19 rd old John Joubert followed him on his bike, lured him into the woods where he attempted to undress him and strangle him. The boy had been strangled both manually and by ligature, stabbed several times in the chest and the killer left bite marks on the boy’s right calf. The killer felt compelled to bite his victims. In an attempt to distort the dental impressions he left knife gauge marks in the bites. Four months later, feeling the intense publicity from being labeled the “Oakdale Slasher”, he sought refuge in the military, moved 1500 miles to Bellevue, NE a suburb of Omaha, where he become a radar technician at Offutt AFB and an assistant scout master.

I don't want to step on anybody's toes here, but the amount of non-dad jokes here in this subreddit really annoys me. First of all, dad jokes CAN be NSFW, it clearly says so in the sub rules. Secondly, it doesn't automatically make it a dad joke if it's from a conversation between you and your child. Most importantly, the jokes that your CHILDREN tell YOU are not dad jokes. The point of a dad joke is that it's so cheesy only a dad who's trying to be funny would make such a joke. That's it. They are stupid plays on words, lame puns and so on. There has to be a clever pun or wordplay for it to be considered a dad joke.
Again, to all the fellow dads, I apologise if I'm sounding too harsh. But I just needed to get it off my chest.

For context I'm a Refuse Driver (Garbage man) & today I was on food waste. After I'd tipped I was checking the wagon for any defects when I spotted a lone pea balanced on the lifts.
