So I'm trying to discover new groups, but NCT is quite overwhelming, and I don't want to start with the wrong foot.

You can leave a comment with a song that you think I might like, only 1 song per comment. Please don't comment songs that have already been commented. You can recommend several songs in different comments. Then just upvote the songs that you think I should listen to.

I will listen to the 10 most upvoted songs, no matter the subunit. Then, if I enjoyed them I might go check out some others. I won't check out MVs, I'm going only by the music. I don't usually read lyrics, but if you think they are really important just mention it and I will read them.

I mostly like hype fun songs with catchy hooks, but I also like darker-sounding music. I normally don't like overly cute or bright songs. Here are some songs that I love, so you get an idea:

I understand that the Beta subunit does all the ADP to ATP catalyzing. However, what role does the Alpha subunit play?

NCT is one of my all-time favorite boy groups in kpop and I would die if we got a girl group version of NCT from SM with a similar concept

If you could create your own subunits for a one off song each (completely unrelated to lore), how would you arrange the subunits and what would their concept be? Mine would be:

Gowon, Yeojin, Vivi and Hyunjin with a magical concept (vibes like WJSN Secret and Save Me, Save You)

Yves, Jinsoul, Choerry and Hyejoo with a retro concept

Haseul, Kim Lip, Chuu and Heejin with a powerhouse ballad

The tour season is coming up and as we know, it's not unusual to see sub-unit stages during concerts. I think subunits are a great way to ease members into solo work/performances - it gives the members each other's support while on stage and when promoting, but also allows their individual skills to shine more than in a whole group.

Here are some of my dream subunits:

SanHwa - preferably doing a concept like Irene & Seulgi's Monster. I imagine some very feral choreo with great facials. They'd definitely be able to fill the stage by themselves. San's high voice and Seonghwa's lower would contrast great in a song too.

For off-the-charts ferociousness, they could also add Joong and just make a demon line finally an official sub-unit. We're waiting, KQ.

Jongho and Mingi - I want Jongho to have rap parts and Mingi to sing. Now, hear me out, I swear I am not crazy. I genuinely think Jongho has a great potential in rapping (I have proofs) and not having to save energy for crazy vocals would allow his swagger in dancing to make a comeback (like in this video). Now, I'm not completely sure if Mingi would be able to sing vocal parts, considering that's far from his specialty. Maybe if the song was rap-focused, he could just rap too? Alternatively, I can see Joong instead of Mingi in this subunit, since we know he records the guides for songs and can carry a tune well.

Wooyoung and Yunho - I can see them doing a concept with choreo similar to Irene&Seulgi's Naughty. That's one of my favourite choreos in kpop and I'd love to see some other takes on tutting. If it was a year or two ago, I wouldn't be sure if Woo's dancing style fits that concept well enough, but recently there's more sharpness to his moves, so I think he'd do great. And obviously we all know that Yunho is very clarity-focused in his dancing. Not to mention they both have relatively big hands and long fingers, which is always a bonus in tutting. (proof 1, proof 2).

Additionally, if they wanted to add more contrast to their voices, they could also add Yeosang and make it a trio (he has great hands too!).

I sense the lecturer dumbing shit down. We (bunch of college redditors) asked and he doesn't know.

This project will involve them:

1. Rest

2. Take time for themselves

3. Recuperate

4. Sleep

5. Eat whatever they want

It will be released (quoting Kim Jungwoo) ASAP as soon as possible and the fans can stream it from absolutely nowhere.

No but seriously, I am genuinely concerned especially about Haechan after seeing recent stages. The thing about these two is that they will give their 110% in anything they do, and while it is admirable it also likely to burn them out even faster. Haechan seems to be visibly tired and (i hope this is not true) perhaps in pain. I understand him and Mark are a great addition to practically any lineup, but SM did not need to take that so literally.

They both did so much this whole year, and it all attacked them at once now that it is award show/year end show season where they perform 5 songs per event at least, all the while promoting for a comeback and starting a world tour.

Not to mention that Haechan had an injury serious enough to have him sit out from dancing for an extended period of time, which has no guarantee that will not reappear.

So anyways, as a whole nct did so much for this year and I understand that they are members with so much to give musically, on stage, and also variety wise as well. However, I’d rather not see them for a couple months so they can take care of themselves than having them physically burn out sooner than later.

Since TREASURE is a large group with 12 members it’s highly likely we will see subunits in the near future. What subunits would you like to see?

Lastly, Do you guys think we will ever see the return of the Treasure and Magnum subunits? Even without Yoonbin I think both units would be well balanced and it would be super cool to see those units finally debut.

I'm super curious who are generally the most popular in your area! I'm sure others in North America have very different observations too.

Once the cholera toxin enters an enterocyte and the five B subunits are cleaved, the alpha subunit of the toxin catalyses ADP-ribosylation of the G-protein's own alpha subunit to prolong production of cAMP by inhibiting GTPase activity.

That's all fine and good. However, I was always under the impression that the G alpha subunit had very weak GTPase activity and would take minutes to hydrolyse its bound GTP, which is why GTPase activating protein (GAP) exists which associates with the G protein and dampens the signal in seconds.

Does cholera toxin ribosylation prevent the GAP from working too? Perhaps by a confirmational change in the G protein, or perhaps it also deactivates GAP itself? Been wondering for a few days now and can't find an answer.

In your opinion, who would you like to see in the group and what concept can you see them doing etc.. For me personally I want to see NingNing (aespa), Joy (Red Velvet), Yeri (Red Velvet) and Taeyeon (SNSD) perform a upbeat/chill song that would be kind of a mix between Hello by Joy and Weekend by Taeyeon.

i hope we can also get an mj & eunwoo subunit!!! it would only make sense, right? 😭 i mean yeah mj just had his solo but it just seems like it would make more sense for there to be three subunits. i just really want an mj & eunwoo mini album too!

After having now checked out all major music videos of all the 3 NCT subunits, I have reached the point where I am troubling to decide who is my favourite.

I LOVE and enjoy them all, especially how different they are to another, every group got the vocals, rap, dancing, charisma etc, no group is lacking in any aspect and its so fun to see how different each unit sounds and feels like, and I can't wait to see how last years and this years NCT albums will feel like were we have a lot of switching around.

I would like to know why subunits happen, how they started and if a song from a subunit wins an award, does the group or subunit receive it (get up and go take the award on stage)

By why they happen, I mean why the group had some members form a subunit, is it for promotion? Like some songs from a subunit get famous and the group ends up popular?

If a song from a subunit wins an award, does the whole group receive it? Can songs from subunits even win an award?

I knew this would be a hot topic the moment the tracklist was revealed but I've not seen a dedicated thread yet. In a few days, FOL will be released and will feature three subunit songs, splitting OT9 into NaMoChaeng, SaHyoDa and JeongMiTzu. I gather that some onces have been clamouring for subunits for a while now and the vast majority of the fandom's attitude towards them is overwhelmingly enthusiastic. Personally, I don't see the appeal.

I simply can't get past the fact that six members will be missing from each subunit song. For me, each member's voice is like a different instrument in an orchestra. Taking instruments out isn't necessarily going to make for a worse experience, but it's usually better with more. I understand people want to hear certain members get more time to shine, but surely this will only be so within that one song; they will be absent for two others. Doesn't that cancel out any benefit? Is hearing them more in that one song worth not hearing them in two? And is hearing more of three members worth hearing nothing of six?

I can sort of see an argument for splitting them into subunits to allow members to pursue those artistic concepts which are better suited to them individually, but at the same time I thought it had already been established that all the members are pretty much able to take on any concept?

On the positive side, I am pleased that it seems JYPE has been listening to fans and taking their suggestions into account. It's also good to see TWICE still continuing to develop, experiment and try new things.

For the record, I am not complaining about the inclusion of subunits in the album and I don't think the subunit songs are going to be bad songs, I just don't see how they will be significantly better than normal just because they have fewer members.

But enough about me. What do you think? Are you looking forward to the subunits? What excites you about them? What are you hoping to see? And what implications might these subunits have for TWICE's future releases?

Both Cfans and Kfans don't want Lucas anymore; Winwin is the only one who doesn't have a subunit currently; He has solid fanbase as well. Also SM has a history of refilming the MV when there is a member change, so I don't think it's a problem. Also many fans, even casual ones are interested in Hendery's potential and sympathise with him so I think the song will do well in sales.
