Completely forgot to post yesterday, I have been having an incredibly difficult work month and lost track of time. I hope everyone had an amazing Christmas and New Year, let’s get 2022 started off right.

Yeah so I was playing as Kaya when my main man Gao lost against Long Yun, and so the GAW officially kicked off. Now I was quite prepared for this and immediately started rolling back all the gains of the Chinese rebels and not soon afterwards they had capitulated. Now I've seen that if you win as Long Yun and reach Manchuria you get a nice event and reform the republic of China.

So my question is: is there supposed to be a similar event as Japan? Because I just ended up with a Chinese puppet in the north and me directly annexing vast tracts of China. Also the warlords on the fringes just remained and Yunnan didn't rejoin my faction.

PS: Also didn't manage to elect Shiina as successor despite having a majority in the Diet, 100% hardliner influence and 75% support in the peers. So uh, is Japan just a buggy mess?

Games Workshop released their interim results (6 months to end of Nov 21).

Reading through its all positive:

• revenue is up £5m to £191.5m for the 6 months
• operating expenses are up £5m (due to some very generous staff salary increases) but net profit is only down £2m
• dividends were 115p vs 80p last year in the same period

Outside the finances, its been another fantastic period for GAW. Their fantasy line is absolutely booming more now then ever before, and with some big releases planned for 40k (with some good media presence too coming) it should be another great year in 2022.

The share price took a 10% hit today post news which makes no sense. EPS is only down 5% on the same period previously but everything is pointing to great results in April.

The only gripe about increases espenses is due to the investment the firm is making in their staff, which I think should be lauded in this industry. I can't think of any other manufacturers/retailers who invest in their staff as much as GAW and their 98% staff retention YoY shows that.

90% of my wealth is in simple index funds. A significant amount of the remaining 10% is GAW (most bought at £10 a share). I'm so tempted to top up a whole whack more as I see the recent drop just a knee jerk reaction.

This is more of a hypothetical question but how would all the presidents of the United States react to Long Yun completely liberating China? Because when you really think about it he essentially just killed Japanese influence in Asia. What would be the interactions between China and the USA? Would China join the OFN?

Seriously, the TT update gave the NPA a lot more special things, including forming the new Republic after winning the war against Japan.

But I'm still curious, can they actually realistically win the war ?

Played though as NPA, and while I enjoyed the mechanics for negotiating with Chinese Warlords, I was a little surprised that no other members of the Greater East Asian Co-Prosperity Sphere took the opportunity to go try and free themselves. Though I am glad India and Vietnam sat it out.

Especially since UMAJF won in Malaya, and not only do they have a lot a lot of Chinese Malaysians in the organisation, there is a lot of Malaya territory controlled by Thailand, not to mention Borneo.

Is the Great Asian War supposed to just a China thing? Or is the continent-spanning war supposed to be for Gao's GAW, and nobody wants to join Long Yun's wild ride?

Even if the GAW ends in a pro-Japanese ceasefire, can Japan even maintain the faction, let alone its Empire without China? It looks like they need to win outright if they want any chance of keeping a global presence. It really sets up Germany and the US (or just the US because Germany will most likely collapse again if they don't choose Speer) to be the world's hegemons more often than not.

If they gained other members like Iran, Italy, or even a friendly Russia, would that be enough to have the CPS stay intact, or is it destined to fail without outright victory in the Cold War?

While everyone is scrambling for the new TT update, I'm curious about the aftermath if Long Yun was able to won the war, will there be a unifed Free China ? Or a Japanese coup d'etat will take place if Japan lost ?

Its been a little while since I've done a movie themed GAW. No quote to guess today, but tell me one of your favorite movies and why I should watch it.

The winner is the one that not only convinces to me to watch the suggested movie, but I need to enjoy most of the movies I'm convinced to watch as well. On occasion I've been known to give out secondary prizes if I get a lot of good movies.

The cause seems to be a report from Jefferies:

The impetus for the crackdown appeared to be Warhammer+, Games Workshop’s subscription service that provides access to exclusive Warhammer TV shows as well as figurines and apps unavailable elsewhere.

Jefferies said while the current noise seemed to be from a ‘vocal minority’, they trimmed their target price for the group to 12,250p from 13,200p, saying they would be ‘keeping a close eye’ on the situation.

While there is no denying that some fans are unhappy, as can be seen from Reddit and Youtube, there are fans who can see why GAW needs to crackdown to protect its IP.

Also notable is that the creators who have been producing content were asked to come onto Warhammer+ to create official IP. It is not as if GAW declared war and initiated lawsuits against the creators. This is a gentler approach, compared to the old GAW when lawsuits were their preferred means to protect their IP.

1. Based on the "stickiness" of fans of the IP, this does not look like a permanent impairment to the business.

2. The arguments against this is that Warhammer+ has sparse content, compared to established streaming services such as Netflix. This is something that can be salvaged, but it does suggest that GAW has a long ways to go to create enough content for the platform.

I would argue that Warhammer+ is a necessity to diversify revenue streams. The revenue from selling tabletop models dwarf the revenue from IP (such as royalties etc). GAW has every incentive to make this work.
