A list of puns related to "Fritz!Box"
At my home network I'm behind a fritzbox, which has its own DNS, resolving for example fritz.box as 192.168.178.1. It also resolves local machines like printers.
After activating portmaster the resolv.conf is being replaced to only resolve via portmaster.
Is it possible to keep my fritzbox for local machines and use portmaster for other networks (like the internet). This rule should only apply for my home network (e.g. trusted network rating).
Internet Provider NetCologne, said(asserts) to me on phone that an 'false' update for the Fritzbox 7360 destroyed it.. before that(the last 2 years) they always wanted me to buy a new router cause this one doesn't get anymore updates...... They also said that i'm not the only one... I called AVM too but they only said they know nothing about this issue. Also i tried the Recovery tool but it doesn't seem too work(i'm also pretty sure having 7360 V2). There's always the red blinking light at power/DSL and connected to PC(with cable) it converts into a green blinking light. Any help much appreciated!!
Hello all
I am in the process of setting up pfSense on a dedicated box with 2 NICs and am wondering what would be the best approach given my below setup?
Fibre to the Home (FTTH) > ISP's fibre2ethernet converter > FRITZ!Box 7590 (+ Repeater, mesh)
Target setup:
Fibre to the Home (FTTH) > ISP's fibre2ethernet converter > pfSense WAN interface <-> pfSense LAN interface > FRITZ!Box WiFI / LAN
Would this work to manage clients via Fritzbox WiFi as long as I let pfSense act as a router?
I heard that Fritz does not allow to be used as a simple bridge, is that correct? Should I scratch the Fritzbox and get a dedicated WiFi AP to work with pfSense? If so, any recommendations to at least keep the mesh functionality of the repeater?
PS: I am by no means familiar with the nitty-gritty of networking and just dipping my toes into this so please bear with me in case the approach is fundamentally flawed :D
It appears that Wireguard is coming to at least some Fritzboxes.
This is good news, especially if they bring it to older models without hardware acceleration, as the VPN speed is very poor on those.
Link (in German):
I access it via the IP in the browser and it's only http and no TLS. Isn't that a security issue?
Hi all,
I have a FRITZ!Box 7530 and have connected my USB stick to it so I can watch recordings on both Firesticks in my home from a central point.
I have set it up correctly (SMB V2 and up) and can access the USB via my PC no problem but however, when I try and point it to my Tivimate app on the Firesticks, it does not find any folders. My username and password I have set on the router are correct as able to watch recordings on PC.
Is there a specific way of inputting the LAN/SMB address into Tivimate for it to work on my Firestick?
Cheers in advance!
Ps: If I get this working will the 4GB file limitation no longer happen when recording from the Firestick to network storage?
A few weeks ago, I noticed connection issues. I checked the logs, and saw that an update recently occured, and since that moment, I had been unable to remain connected to my ISP. (Connection time varied from a few minutes to a few days)
Obviously the ISP is just going to offer me a different fritzbox which probably has the same OS on it.
Why is there no customer friendly method to undo an update? (This is seems like a CRITICAL technical support feature that is now gone)
Why did the router ignore the settings for updates? (It's almost as bad as not being able to undo it)
TLDR: The router updated into a new OS, it's seemly irreversible, and the ISP DSL server hates it.
