A list of puns related to "Freedom of Choice (album)"
I'm trying to understand why, an advanced society living in a nation that believes in free will, and based their laws on this, still illigalizes consensual sex between adults. I get the trafficking thing, yes that should be illegal, underage illegal, anything that make one an unwilling participant! That said, if you are consenting adults, agree on interaction, agree on the risks, birth control/std protection, and the risks that come with. Why is it still illegal for two people to exchange money for sex. I know I'm walking on double edged sword with next statement, but there are those that would be ok with risk. With what's going on and lack of income, why not let it be legal? You say they could infect others, I say they had the option to protect themselves, and or say no. If they decide not to protect themselves, I will leave that be. Why treat adults like children?
In nearly every single side mission in Knights of the Old Republic, the player is given the option to do something good or evil about the situation, but either way they still get a great experience from it. Iβve been looking for games like that but none of them have the same vibe. Mass Effect is pretty much about being passive or just really edgy and unstable. In Skyrim you canβt really get the full experience unless you do some really evil things. Are there any games out there that give you the same freedom of choice like Knights of the old republic but still give you a strong meaningful experience on both the good path and the bad path? Games that donβt take the fun away because youβre the good guy?
Why no suicide booths yet
1. Faith schools undermine freedom of choice, since they promote their religion as the norm and as factual at ages when developing minds are most impressionable and when the students are still developing their critical thinking skills.
Faith schools each promote a specific religious view. They do this to various extents but all aim to surround children with peers and authority figures of the same religious belief and to promote that belief. Many do so through mandatory collective worship or through mixing religion with enjoyable childhood activities such as art, theatre and singing. Some use school discipline structures to enforce religious dress codes.
The worst faith schools create biased curriculums which neglect to inform students of alternative values and religious points of view or only do so in a negative light, which teach ultra conservative attitudes to gender and sexuality and/or which deliberately omit fundamental scientific discoveries such as the earth's age or the process of natural selection.
Of course, schools should not promote non-religious ideologies either for the same reasons. Instead, there should be religious education including factual, impartial introductions to multiple religions alongside non-religious concepts such as agnosticism and atheism and ideologies such as humanism. In my view, schools should be places where facts and critical thinking are taught, where minds are opened and children come across ideas they may not come across elsewhere. Children should get this kind of education regardless of what their parents choose to teach at home.
I would argue that even from a religious perspective, it's rational to support secular education. Firstly, because if your religion is allowed to have faith schools then so are all the others - any other stance would be prejudiced and hypocritical - and you should logically be concerned about the children being taught a false religion as fact and raised not to consider other religions. Secondly, anyone who genuinely believes their religion is true and convincing should have nothing to fear from an impartial education that instils critical thinking skills in young people and agree there is ample time outside school for parents and others to offer young people their religion's convincing answers.
Hey! Listen! Iβm not here to make another BoTW argument thread, but here are my thoughts upon completing the βmain questβ:
It was the best of times...it was the worst of times...this famous line summarizes my mixed emotions for BoTW. I love the game for the same reasons as all the fans and I hate it for the same reasons as all the haters. I have accepted that this is a different Zelda game than I am used to playing and I have had a lot of fun with it, but the point where this game completely disappointed me was during what is arguably the most important moment in any game. The Final Blow.
Throughout the game we are given complete freedom of choice to go anywhere, at any time we choose. We can challenge the Divine Beasts in any order we decide or even avoid challenging them altogether. Fighting whichever enemies we like along the way with all the creative techniques we can imagine. Until the very end(or very beginning) when you decide to challenge Ganon.
>!As Ganon transformed into Dark Beast Ganon I knew this must be his final form. I dodged his attacks on horseback weakening him with the Bow of Light until he was crippled and the final βeye targetβ appeared. I spurred my horse towards him, jumped off and opened my glider, riding the updraft from the flames in the grass. Soaring high above the beast I flew towards the eye and instinctively drew the Master Sword in a risk-everything downward strike to smite Ganon once and for all. Only I did not smite him...instead I bounced off an invisible force field half a meter above his face and was awkwardly pushed to the ground in front of him. βI must have misaligned the attack.β I thought to myself, and attempted the strike again. Upon the second or third failed attempt I realized the game was forcing me to kill Ganon with one specific weapon, the Bow of Light. This is completely contradictory to everything the game stands for. We players should have the freedom to deal the final blow to Ganon with a Korok Leaf if we so choose. The inability to defeat Ganon with The Sword That Seals The Darkness is inexcusable in my mind.!<
BoTW abandoned the classic LoZ mechanics that fans like myself have grown to adore and associate with the series in an attempt to give players a new experience of freedom akin to the very first LoZ, and then totally contradicted itself in my aforementioned situation. In what should be one of the most significant moments in every video game, the final blow, this was
... keep reading on reddit β‘I think what we need now is a limited time event. I was thinking of calling it reinforcements unleashed, the idea would be allowing freedom of choice of whatever reinforcement (ex: Sith Trooper on Yavin 4) youβd like to use despite the era and game mode youβre playing on, expect HvV and Hero Showdown.
This would also solve the issue of trying to find a sequel era map to try the new reinforcements
The greatest thing about obsidians fallout vegas was the fact that you could literally kill anyone and finish the game. Im hoping the game has that sort of freedom within all aspects of gameplay for better replay ability. Anyone come across any information regarding this?
Everyday I come across well upvoted outrage posts about women indicating a preference for taller guys. What's the problem? Are guys not allowed to prefer big tits and asses? What if a guy says I only want to date D+ cups? What if a guy says he only wants to date white women? Isn't that completely his choice?? All he does is limit himself in opportunity and because of that may end up not finding a woman at all. His loss (or luck.. depending...).
In the same way it's perfectly fine for a woman to have a preference. Just because tallness is a majority preference, doesn't mean there's something to be changed. We don't expect men to change the majority preference of large tits.
All you virgins out there that are afraid to never find a girl because they're not tall: There's plenty of women out there who are afraid to never find a men because they have small tits. Don't be a hypocritical misogynistic cunt and realize not all women need to like you to have a girlfriend. Just one, so stop crying about this making you feel below average. That's just pathetic.
we might think we do well encouraging people to do X or Y, "it's a great path, you'll do well, you'll help so many people or ideals". pressure and expectations do weird things to people, can push them into things they would never consider normal.
if a person chooses what is seen as a traditional job or role in society and is happy, others at times try to pull them out of it and seem blissfully unaware that they have made the person choose from a sense of pressure of being stuck.
the opposite is also true, a person cna be encouraged into something that fits a norm when they dont want to do it, but get trapped in stockholme like life they have convinced themself is normal and what they want
Hello, I have not read many of the posts on here but I doubt this question has been asked. This is for a master level practitioner to answer, but if a novice has an opinion based on some knowledge I am happy to Hear it.
I have been astral projecting for 30 years, in the beginning it was a challenge, I went through what many others do, and have a great many experiences to share, but I would prefer to start with something thatβs bothering me.
I no longer fall asleep and dream. I close my eyes and see the astral after a few minutes, then get sucked in. I canβt stop projecting now. They all know me. I canβt turn it off. Sometimes they wonβt leave me alone, I could describe the many annoying ways they disturb my attempt to meditate. I want to get to a location empty of other beings, even if itβs blackness just so I can rest.
Thanks.
So I've been thinking about Bran's "abilities" and I'm starting to get an idea of how this is actually going to work.
Based on what Bran did to Hodor, it would appear that everything is, essentially, predetermined (I know there is a term for this, but I can't think of it right now). Basically, Hodor was Hodor before Bran was born.
Which means that Ned was always going to die, Theon was always going to seize Winterfell, Bran was always going to flee to north of the wall, the night king was always going to attack the cave, and Bran was always going to skin change into Hodor in order to escape. In other words, Bran scrambling Hodor's brain was pre-determined.
This would essentially mean that there are no stakes. No one has free will. People think they're making decisions, but they're really not. Everything that was going to happen has already happened. On the one hand, that's kind of nice, because it means that Bran can't just go back in time and reset everything.
BUT... now Bran can see the future. If the future is predetermined, Bran being able to see the future is meaningless, especially since it means that there has to be some unseen force preventing Bran from changing events.
Of course, this sets up a pretty obvious question - could Bran's ability to see the future be the very thing that gives him the ability to change the future?
If it did, that would mean that Bran can't actually see the future.
Which makes the most sense to me. Bran, as part of the weirwood net, possesses knowledge of all of human history. There's no reason to think that means that he also has the ability to see the future. What makes more sense is that Bran has the ability to anticipate the future. We got a hint of that in the 2nd episode of season 8, when Bran says that the night king is going to come for him, because he's done the same thing many times in the past.
But that leads to another question - does Bran believe that he's actually seeing the future? He might not. Again, when he's asked why the night king will come for him, Bran doesn't say that he has seen what will happen. Instead, he says that is what the night king always does - he always comes for the three eyed raven. Meaning that he's anticipating the night king's actions. He also asks Jaime why he thinks there will be a future, which is a pretty messed up thing to say if he already knows that there won't be a future.
Anyway, I feel like this would all be much more interesting if we act
... keep reading on reddit β‘In my experience most feel very justified in doing so. Utah has rediculously tight restrictions on things that are disallowed in Mormonism. Things like weed can be fully legal and the Mormons are still free to abstain all they want. But because they disagree with its use they want to control the hell out of the people who use it. I feel like I'm lost in a sea of people committed to willful ignorance.
Edit: Autocorrect changed partly to party in the title.
I just found out about enneagram yesterday and I'm definitely a 7. My wife is 4 and there's a couple topics where we don't see eye to eye on but have reached a compromise that we are both somewhat happy with.
One of those topics almost caused us to split up a few weeks ago because I realized that I was unable to compromise on one of those topics for much longer, and my wife was not willing to change her position either. When she finally realized that I was about to leave the relationship, she did cave in and we are now exploring the topic together with a fairly slow pace.
That leads to my question. What are typical ways that 7s react and are impacted when their freedom of choice and what they really yearn for is taken away? I can't tell whether this limitation has caused me to have these almost unhealthy obsessions with otherwise healthy and valuable matters that my wife used to be opposed to. Or if it's just a projection of having a little self control and wanting the next thing.
