A list of puns related to "Foundation and Earth"
I know there is no cannon, but there is surely some kind of information about sites (not areas) at the polar regions or beneath the oceans. And if not, would you imagine some sites to be there with some kind of cover up company or a secret entrance from an island?
Started reading the Foundation series and while at Foundation's Edge I found various references to Robots and I'm thinking that this describes events in the Robots Series.
If I continue with Foundation and Earth, will it spoil the Robots? Should I leave it here and start The Caves of Steel?
EDIT: Thank you all, I now have a better idea about what to expect :)
I read Pebble in the Sky not long ago and subsequently became interested in the Galactic Empire and wanted to read more. I started on the Foundation Series, starting with Prelude first. (i know i know, i should read them in the order they were written, but I wasnt aware of that until I was a good 6 or so chapters into prelude so i just kept going)
Im a bit confused though. I just read this excerpt in Prelude:
"The human occupants of the Galaxy existed before this Emperor who now rules, before the dynasty he represents, before the Empire itself. Humanity is far older than the Empire. It may even be far older than the twenty five million worlds of the Galaxy. There are legends of a time when humanity inhabited a single world.β βLegends!β said Seldon, shrugging his shoulders. βYes, legends, but I see no reason why that may not have been so in fact, twenty thousand years ago or more. I presume that humanity did not come into existencecomplete with knowledge of hyperspatial travel. Surely, there must have been a timewhen people could not travel at superluminal velocities and they must then have beenimprisoned in a single planetary system..........."
I thought in Pebble in the Sky, (which took place- according to Asimov's timeline in 827 GE, a good 12 thousand years before Prelude takes place-12, 020 GE) that it was established that humanity started on earth, yet it is not known in Prelude, and prelude was written waaaaay after pebble in the sky, foundation was even written after pebble in the sky.
Why isnt Seldon or Chetten aware of humanity's origins? Is this just something asimov completely looked over?
I'm having difficulty finding information on this. Did he develop the theories behind warp, or was he just the first person to build a warp-capable ship? If he wasn't the founder of the theories, were there warp experiments by other people before the flight of The Phoenix?
One of my biggest disappointments is that Asimov never continued the story after Foundation & Earth and chose to go with the prequels. I think I read somewhere he had no idea how to get from the ending of F&E to the eventual creation of the Second Galactic Empire. Is this true? Are there any fan theories bridging the gap?
I posted this late last week, so apologise if i'm being a bit over eager, but I've created a 24 page downloadable colouring book of Le Mans Legends available to download here http://www.racingcolour.co.uk/le-mans-legends-drawnloadable-content/ in exchange for a charity donation of your choice (as little or as much as you can afford, 10p to Β£10 all very much appreciated).
I put a lot of work in to getting this ready in time for the race and really want to raise as much as I can for the charities, so if you know anyone who might enjoy this I'd really appreciate if you could spread the word
Thanks
Tom, Racing Colour
Several Bible verses (this includes Job) seem to imply that the Earth has pillars. However, Job says God hangeth the Earth upon nothing.
How does this reflect the cosmological understanding at the time?
I just read scp-093 the other day, for those of you who donβt know ill sum up the object quick. An object that when held by certain individuals allows them to walk through mirrors to an alternate earth E-93 that has had an apocalyptic event occur already through anomalous activity.
Obviously in this case the SCP foundations goal is to contain the thing that cause the event and keep our earth safe. However, what if the foundation entered this alternate earth while it was mid apocalypse? Would the SCP foundation step in and attempt to assist in containing these anomalies in this alternate earth? Or would they simply secure all the portals to this alternate earth and prevent any anomalous materials/entities from passing through?
