A list of puns related to "Formaldehyde releaser"
Used Brazilian Blowout açaí heat protectant and believe I’m allergic. I also got an allergic reaction after using Agave Smoothing Solution, which contains glyoxyloyl carbocysteine, a formaldehyde releaser. The Brazilian blowout heat protectant doesn’t have any formaldehyde releasers listed in the ingredients but it does have glycine.
Here are the rest of the ingredients

Hey Beautiful people, we all know we love Emolene here but as a fellow Emolene user I like almost everyone in this sub was freaked out when a user revealed in a post that the preservative used in Emolene called Diazolidinyl urea is a Formaldehyde releaser, so I did my online research and found a study and an article online which might help resolve the situation.
Short answer : Emolene is completely safe to use
Long answer : Keep reading
The safety of Diazolidinyl Urea has been assessed by the Cosmetic Ingredient Review (CIR) Expert Panel. The CIR Expert Panel evaluated the scientific data and concluded that Diazolidinyl Urea was safe as a cosmetic ingredient up to a maximum concentration of 0.5%.
In 2006, as part of the scheduled re-review of ingredients, the CIR Expert Panel considered available new data on this ingredient and reaffirmed the above conclusion.
CIR Safety Review: The CIR Expert Panel noted that Diazolidinyl Urea was relatively non-toxic in oral subchronic studies. At 5%, Diazolidinyl Urea was not an ocular or skin irritant. In three studies of sensitzation potential, Diazolidinyl Urea was a mild sensitizer, but was not a sensitizer in a fourth study.
Diazolidinyl Urea was nonmutagenic when tested in the bacteria, or in the micronucleus assay. At concentrations up to 0.4%, Diazolidinyl Urea was a mild cumulative skin irritant in humans. It was not a sensitizer in a repeat insult patch test on nonpatient volunteers. Diazolidinyl Urea was not a photosensitizer at 0.25%. The CIR report noted that Diazolidinyl Urea was a formaldehyde releaser. The CIR Expert Panel previously concluded that the use of formaldehyde in cosmetics and personal care products was safe to the great majority of consumers.
The CIR Expert Panel concluded that there was no indication that the use of Diazolidinyl Urea cosmetics and personal care products would release formaldehyde at concentrations which would exceed their previous recommended limits for formaldehyde (0.2%).

The concentration of Diazolidinyl Urea in Emolene is 0.15% far lower than the safe limit of 0.5%.
I have pretty bad dermatitis right now and bad joint pain and I'm trying to figure out why.
So I began embracing my wavy hair in March 2020 during the start of COVID since there was no where to go. I went from straightening my hair once a week, along with washing it once a week to researching how I could take of my natural hair.
During this time my hair was right below my shoulders. I was decently successful at having wavy hair but my hair is extremely thick and frizzy. I tried all sorts of things but nothing was manageable for multiple days. Eventually I gave up after a few months and got a keratin treatment done. I loved the treatment, it gave my hair shine and my hair was finally straight and mainly frizz free. After a few months the treatment faded leaving me back to my reality of wavy hair.
I was tempted to do the keratin treatment again but I saw that it has been linked to cancer so I don’t want to rely on it. I tried once again to embrace my natural hair, but nothing worked. I had beautiful waves on the first day with a little gel and styling cream but my hair would be frizzy and less wavy with each passing day. After dealing with this for a few months and researching my hair I gave up and went back to straightening my hair once a week.
It’s been about six months since then and my hair is now close to my bellybutton. However, I am scared about the damage I have to my hair in the front especially because of the split ends and long term damage due to heat. I use heat protectant but it can only go so far. I really like the The way that my hair looks on the first day of washing but I don’t like the way that it looks the days following. I cannot wash my hair every day because it has low porosity and takes almost 8 hours to dry. I don’t know what to do because I feel the best when I have straight hair since it is so manageable and I don’t have to worry about it for the rest of the six days of the week whereas weather here is extremely time consuming and frankly expensive
I also feel less confident with my wavy hair because it varies so much every day it is harder to high degrees on my way be here too and product buildup is a huge issue for me. Are there any types of people I’ve dealt with something similar what do you think I should do: should I get another keratin treatment despite that risk of cancer or should I embrace my natural hair or straighten it once a week with heat protectant?
Title says it all. I'd expect the offgassing to be done after 10 years but not sure whether cutting it in half would expose some 'trapped' in the core or something
I believe many of us here are using personal lubes as a part of our sexual life. Some may think ingredients in their favorite lube are not a big deal, while some just don't pay attention to ingredients.
Hey, as long as its long-lasting and slippery it's good, right?
Well, to everyone who does care about ingredients, I believe this "list" of formaldehyde releasing agent may come in handy.
Fact 1: There is formaldehyde in personal lubes (which we are applying to our private parts) and in cosmetic products, that we are using on our face, hands, hair and other body parts.
Fact 2: It is not safe (long term usage may have its effect on human body). Here's a study on safety of DMDM hydantoin (formaldehyde releaser) in skincare products.
[crucial excerpts from 2017 ToxServices study on DMDM hydantoin formaldehyde releasing agent]
And yet we can still find many personal lubricant with formaldehyde as part of ingredient.
DMDM Hydantoin and Quaternium-15 are just two of the formaldehyde releasing agents, which are being used in sex lubes. Therefore, I've made a complete list of formaldehyde ingredients, which can serve anyone when going for a new lubricant. Parabens and glycerin are one thing, but formaldehyde, that's on another level ! :@
So, here's our list of formaldehyde releasing agents [source: lubeforsex.com]. I hope it helps to those seeking for not just a feel-good, but preferably healthy lube for sex and other skincare products. Enjoy:

The title is pretty self explanatory: every time I peel shrimp, my fingers start to itch and swell. It used to be annoying but managable, but today the reaction was much more severe so I'm getting a bit worried about ingesting shrimp. I never experience any sort of reaction when I eat them, but I'm wondering if I might be playing Russian roulette here.
I don't have any food allergies but suffer from a bunch of contact allergies (nickel, kobalt, formaldehyde releasers, leather/chromate).
I have an inexpensive 'stone' for cooking my bread. I found out it is releasing formaldehyde because I rented a tester to check my daughters room and noticed when I was baking with my stone the meter went off the charts (30x allowed levels).
I was wondering if anyone else had this situation. I do live in China, and only spent about $10 on it. I think next time I'll purchase a natural quarry stone or a reliable stone.
I don't want to step on anybody's toes here, but the amount of non-dad jokes here in this subreddit really annoys me. First of all, dad jokes CAN be NSFW, it clearly says so in the sub rules. Secondly, it doesn't automatically make it a dad joke if it's from a conversation between you and your child. Most importantly, the jokes that your CHILDREN tell YOU are not dad jokes. The point of a dad joke is that it's so cheesy only a dad who's trying to be funny would make such a joke. That's it. They are stupid plays on words, lame puns and so on. There has to be a clever pun or wordplay for it to be considered a dad joke.
Again, to all the fellow dads, I apologise if I'm sounding too harsh. But I just needed to get it off my chest.
Hi everyone, I'm new to DIY beauty and would appreciate any advice.
I'd like to make this leave-on scalp toner with Germaben II as the preservative. However, there is some concern that the diazolidinyl urea in Germaben II can cause hair loss. I'm thinking of using 0.1% of Germaben II in my formula for a shelf-life of 1 month. My guess is that lowering the concentration of Germaben II can help lower the chance of any adverse effects to the skin. Is this workable?
This is my proposed recipe (total 100g):
- rosemary oil: 1.5g
- panthenol: 2g
- niacinamide: 4g
- glycerin: 2g
- polysorbate 80: 5g
- Germaben II: 0.1g
- distilled water
I've tested the concentration of panthenol, niacinamide, and glycerin. My skin loves the concentrations listed. My only concern is how to preserve the spray.
Do your worst!
I'm surprised it hasn't decade.
I’m currently taking Orgo 1, and I have a 10 min oral presentation due In like 9 days (yes I’m a huge procrastinator) We can choose any topic and discuss the chemistry behind and I decided to do my topic about determining levels of formaldehyde in cosmetics by HMNR spectroscopy method. But to be honest, I feel like it is so complex that I don’t really understand anything despite me reading the article over and over again.
I’m not sure if I want to do that, so maybe someone can help me to choose an easier topic to do my presentation on? Any help is appreciated Thank you!
For context I'm a Refuse Driver (Garbage man) & today I was on food waste. After I'd tipped I was checking the wagon for any defects when I spotted a lone pea balanced on the lifts.
I said "hey look, an escaPEA"
No one near me but it didn't half make me laugh for a good hour or so!
Edit: I can't believe how much this has blown up. Thank you everyone I've had a blast reading through the replies 😂
It really does, I swear!
Purpose: to hopefully help others plagued by this problem
I am self-diagnosed with HIT (Histamine InTolerance). If you think a Dermatologist will be able to tell you if you have this condition, think again. I have been to every Dermatologist in the small city where I live (plus Mayo) and not one had heard of it. I got very tired of hearing "Oh, yours isn't bad. You should see some of the cases I've seen". Another problem is that Drs don't identify the problem, they just prescribe steroids which should generally be avoided. I destroyed myself early on with very strong steroids.
Disclaimer: I am not a Medical Doctor and I can only tell you my symptoms and what I did. After 4 years I have learned to live with the condition and refuse to let it totally control my life.
My History
In Nov 2017 I had a Squamous Cell cancer removed and made the mistake of using the antibacterial Neosporin. Shortly after, I had a rash develop on my chest and stomach. I am certain the Neosporin triggered something in my body; the Drs say I'm crazy of course. I soon started having problems with foods I have been eating all my life: shellfish, sausage/bacon, citrus. Some foods always caused a problem, but for others the reaction seemed to be related to the quantity.
At one point my chest was so bad I went to the ER. The PA I saw said it was one of the worst she had ever seen. Fortunately, she had experienced the problem and was at least sympathetic. The things she told me to do (other than DAO) are outlined below.
Help!
Here is a link to a document by a Canadian RD which outlines foods you can and cannot eat.
https://www.jillcarnahan.com/downloads/HistamineRestrictedDiet.pdf
Histamine
Histamine is not only in the air we breathe but is also in our gut. Some foods contain histamines and others cause the production of histamine in the gut. The enzyme Diamine Oxidase (DAO) is present in the gut to control the levels of histamine in our gut. Some people do not produce enough DAO and must take a supplement.
Following are steps I take to control my HIT
Take cool (not hot) showers and hydrate your skin; I use CeraVe.
DAO can be purchased online from DIEM Direct at: https://diemdirectllc.com
Take 1 or 2 capsules no more than 8-10 minutes before consuming problem foods. After 15m you will get little benefit.
It is important to note that
