A list of puns related to "Fluctuation loss"
So, first off- I'm female, 230 lbs and just turned 29 (literally earlier this month), for whatever that info is good for.
I've recently been discouraged and slightly worried because for the past two-three weeks, I've seen very little progress. I'm talking INCHING along. And sometimes I wake up and my weight has gone UP several ounces. I'm religiously tracking calories and exercising a lot more than I did before (although probably still not enough, haha).
I know that fluctuation is normal, but is this normal to see over a period of weeks?
For example (rough estimates just to use as an example):
Day 1: 232.2 lbs
Day 2: 231.9 lbs
Day 3: 232.4 lbs
Day 4: 232.1 lbs
Day 5: 230.4 lbs
Day 6: 231.1 lbs
And so on and so forth. Today I finally got below 230, but barely. I'm sure it'll go back up tomorrow.
I DID have my period just recently, but I did NOT notice my weight going down at all during (like, I stayed at the same bloated weight throughout and didn't really lose much after I stopped).
My main concern isn't motivation (although of course it sucks in that regard), but possible medical reasons as to why this is happening. I'm terrified of the possibility of PCOS, for multiple reasons (not safe to go in due to Covid, but mainly I'm TERRIFIED it means I'll never be able to lose the weight I need to), but other than a slightly irregular period I've had since I started menstruating, I don't really think I have any real symptoms of it.
Essentially, I want to know- is seeing this on the scale normal? I just got through my first month, and thanks mainly to initial weight loss, I'm twelve pounds down. But again, that was initial- over the past two-three weeks I've lost MAYBE two pounds. On a diet where I should be losing 2.2 pounds a week due to my size. I'm okay if it takes a little longer, I know it's only a rough estimate. I'm fine, as long as I know I'll keep losing the weight.
So yeah. TLDR: is this normal?
Hello! I hope this is the right sub for this - if not, I apologize.
I am in the process on training a Siamese network for similarity evaluation of signals sampled at 100 kHz. There are 10 "classes" in the dataset, but the end result of the network is to decide if signals from the same class, but severely corrupted by noise, are "similar" (a "1"), or dissimilar (a "0"), effectively turning a 10-class classification problem into a 2-class "similarity problem".
The data set consists of 4,000 signals, each 6,676 samples long. I am using 3,200 for training and 800 for testing. I am using PCA on the data to reduce it down to roughly 145 "features" instead of 6,676.
I am using four LSTM layers, and two fully-connected layers, interspersed with dropout layers and using leaky ReLU activation functions. Using 10-fold cross validation, a learning rate of 0.001, binary cross-entropy loss, and a mini-batch size of 32, I am seeing the following behavior (see image). The accuracy and loss appear to have a huge variance, even though the mean tends in the direction I'd like. What could be causing this? I have tried:
Nothing seems to really change the behavior. I'm working on obtaining more data that would effectively double the total amount of data I have.
So, the best place to start is with liquidity pools themselves. When you pair two tokens, youβre entering into a liquidity pool with others that have also paired those tokens. Each liquidity pool has its own ratio. Most of the time itβs 50:50 but, you can find odd ratios sometimes depending on what coins are involved in that liquidity pool. We wonβt go into those here for the sake of simplicity.
So, letβs use a Bone:ETH pool as an example. Weβll use our own values to make its easier. Letβs say Bone = $1 and ETH = $100. Weβll also say the liquidity pool for that pair is 1000Bone:10ETH. You decide to pair these two tokens using $100 worth of each. So you use 100Bone:1ETH. The total liquidity is 10,000 because: 1000Bone X 10ETH = 10,000 Your liquidity pair makes up 10% of the liquidity pool.
Now then, over time, the value of these coins will change on the regular market but, remain unchanged in the liquidity pool. Regardless of that value changing, the ratio of the liquidity pool must remain the same. In addition to that, the value of the coins must match the market price but, since the liquidity pool is unaffected by the open market, the values must be adjusted manually. This process is called arbitrage. An arbitrageur is a type of investor who attempts to profit from market inefficiencies. So itβs up to the Arbitrageurs to make sure that liquidity pools ratio remains constant and coin value is adjusted to reflect market price when removed. To do this, they have to add or remove tokens as necessary to ensure the values are the same. The one constant, is that the value of the entire liquidity pool remains the same.
So, if ETH goes up to $400 a token, that means the value of the ETH in the pool must be increased as well while keeping the ratio the same. Arbitrageurs will remove ETH and add Bone to the pool to correct it. Remember, the ratio and value of the entire pool must remain constant. So, they remove 5 ETH but, this also means they have to add 2000 Bone. 2000Bone X 5ETH = 10,000 or $2,000Bone : $2,000 ETH (50:50) Because the liquidity pools themselves are unchanged by market movements, this is the only way to maintain the value and ratio. They dilute the pool with Bone and remove ETH to maintain a 50:50 ratio and a liquidity pool value of 10,000. The removed ETH belongs to the Arbitrageurs now and this is how they make their profit.
Letβs say, at this point, you decide to remove your coins. Remember, you make up 10% of the liquidity pool and n

Hey all,
Stake was my first investing platform I've used, and back then was so keen to get started asap investing to US stock/etfs but I never really had a strategy on how to deal with currency fluctuations (gains/losses). Since I'm a long term buy&hold investor, i don't need to worry about it for now but sooner or later im gonna have to deal with it when I retire, when i start to sell a few shares here and there to fund retirement.
For long term investors, what strategies do you have in place to deal with currency fluctuations?
Just out of curiosity - for short term investors, or day traders, what are your strategies?
Cheers.
Hi all!
I'm in the process of getting the correct dosage for Synthroid after TT (November 2020), and RAI (January 2021). I was losing weight at a really great pace before this. I was at almost 50 pounds gone, and over the course of cancer and my mom's death (May 2021), things aren't going well lol I've gained back about 30 pounds, and I'm back into my gym and eating routine that I was using before my TT. I have been at a steady weight for the past 3 or 4 months, so at least I haven't gained anything..but I haven't lost anything. I do "intermittent fasting", only eating between noon and 6, and typically eat a salad with berries and chicken for lunch, and then a more hearty dinner haha
Wondering if anyone has had any luck with this? Or if I should seek out a nutritionist and/or a more rigorous workout routine? Idk, just need some insight.

What causes power loss or fluctuation during a storm? I've lived in a third world country with a not so adequate power distribution infrastructure, every year when monsoon came in we would loose power during heavy rainfall or storm, I always thought it was due to old inadequate power distribution, planning and infrastructure. However, I've been in the west for the past decade, although we don't get monsoon here but when ever there is a storm (specifically thinderatorm) the power fluctuates and sometimes we just lose power altogether. The power distribution system here is at least adequate, underground lines and regular maintenence and checks. How does a storm really effect power distribution?
I did OMAD a few years ago to lose about 20 kilograms. With the pandemic and everything, I gained most of it back, so I started OMAD again last Jan 8 (75 kg). It's been 16 days, and I'm still at 75 kg, with some days where I gain a kilogram. What am I doing wrong?
What am I doing wrong? I'm not feeling any dizziness / lack of energy or even hunger after 23 hours of fasting. I think I can go to 36 or even 48 hour fasting. What do you guys think? Where's the flaw in my strategy? I'm pretty sure I'm doing the exact same thing I did last time, but this time with absolutely zero results.
I wonder does anybody have this specific sequence of health issues:
May it be some kind of one syndrome? One kind of disease with multiple organ damage?
My kidney function fluctuates rapidly now. My nephrologist said that It is probably the consequences of 'Acute Kidney Injury after cold', denied me biopsy (because 'now urine is good'), she also is puzzled why I have issues with one predominantly but the other kidney doesn't take the load. She also said it is definitely not glomerulonephritis.
My story short:
I do have stage 3 hypertension (hereditary, isolated systolic hypertension, cause unknown). However, my BP readings now are fine around 135-140/60-79.
my kidneys were always fine in 2017. In august of 2019, I found out that I've developed anemia Hb 101 g/l (so anemia first) but still fine kidneys (eGFR 95%). Total protein in the blood was also a bit low. The only thing that changed is that I've been put on Abilify and then on Vraylar for my bipolar (not medicated previously)
In January of 2020, I suddenly get a creatinine of 277 ΞΌ mol/l (eGFR around 24%). Then it was 200 in March, then again 265 in May. I also had a cold in January.
Then I become extremely scared and started the low-protein diet. Immediately my creatinine went down to 112 (EGFR of around 75). But it still fluctuates, I do blood work every month and my last eGFR was 75 June - 67 July - 75 August - 67 September - 39 October (slip from the diet) - 67 November.
I did have some albuminuria in June, but then it went away. My phosphorus levels went a little bit high but are also normal now.
CT scan shows problems filtration and excretory function of the right kidney and also problems with the excretory function of the left kidney. They measured eGFR on CT and it was around 64 (32%+32% from both kidneys) in July.
Ultrasound also shows problems with the liver and pancreas which I didn't have a year ago. I'm overweight 6.0/220lbs.
Hey, I'm kimda new here so sorry if I'm lacking information or have bad formatting. I've lost over 20 pounds in the past year but I've hit a hard plateau. I dropped to 136lbs, my lowest weight since probably middle school (always been a fat kid) but have been having trouble getting past that. I walk for two hours almost every day and run for part of that along with doing push-ups and sit-ups at home. I typically eat between 1000-1200 calories a day but not much has changed recently. I'm hoping for somebody to keep accountability with me, preferably on discord since it's the app I use most often to talk with people. Accountability stuff would include weight progress, workouts done, and calories eaten for the day. No pictures or anything since I know most people, myself included, aren't usually comfortable with that. We can also share advice, recipes, motivation etc. if you'd like. Like I said, I'm a trans guy but I'm alright talking to whoever wants to talk to me, regardless of gender so long as things don't get weird. PM me for my discord tag if you're interested. I look forward to our journey!
Apologies in advance if this question is newbieish. Also, yes, I know I should have tested this strategy with paper money for a while before pulling the trigger with real money, so go ahead and bash me over the head for that.
I decided to try the strategy described in this SMB capital video:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Qj8_3eybnaE
Basically, he describes buying a broken wing butterfly with 2 weeks to expiration, then closing the position as soon as you are up $1000 or down $2000. He describes buying 10 contracts. I decided to try it with 5 to start, so I would exit as soon as I was up $500 or down $1000.
The first 3-4 times I did it, I took the $500 profit. Then, last week with the market drop of course, this strategy lost. And in fact, I lost more than $1000 because I didn't have a stop order in. I had been relying on manually checking prices.
So I opened a new position on Friday (only in this one, because I figured the market was going down, I created a position out of calls above the current SPX price, rather than puts below it.) And as soon as I did so, I entered two OCO orders: a limit order to sell at $500 profit, and a stop order to sell at $1000 loss. Both GTC.
Things seemed fine at first, with the position alternating mildly between profit and loss territory, which was normal with 2 weeks to go. But then, I happened to be at my computer with ThinkorSwim open at the closing bell. A few minutes after closing, the SPX climbed significantly. It was still nowhere near putting any of the options in my open position in the money, but the value on my open position began to plummet. Before I knew what was happening, my stop order triggered and closed the position for a $1000 loss.
What I am wondering is, was that due to normal fluctuations? Apparently SPX options trade until 4:15 pm, is that correct? Could this kind of thing happen on any day, and just as easily result in a profit, and therefore it makes sense to stick with the strategy of keeping GTC orders open? Or is it possible for some market maker or savvy advanced trader to somehow notice that GTC stop order out there and manipulate bid/ask prices so that somehow he profits from it and I'm forced to take a loss?
Sometimes when I jump out of the bus I see 1% packet loss for a second then it goes back to zero. Occassionally I see upwards of 10% during fights... My pump shots sometimes don't register and edits feels extremely clunky.
I usually have 20-30 ping but now I see 20-50 ping and Im sure its not my internet.
hit my lowest weight saturday, continued low restricting, somehow put on half a kilo overnight when i weighed sunday, now itβs monday and iβm back to saturdayβs low weight
@ my scale @ my body am i a joke to you? are you having fun?
ive been playing a lot of team games recently with friends. ~10-20 % of the games someone freezes and then drops out of the game after ~30 sec.
I've noticed that any, and i mean any slightest fluctuations in your internet and you freeze and drop. I have 50mbps + net and even then i have to shut off wifi to avoid any problems. My friend who plays on laptop had his freezes solved by connecting via ethernet cable rather than wifi.
The old engine/connection style is very intolerant of any kind of packet loss/fluctuations in ping and just drops you out of the game imo. For reference i have a pretty solid internet and have never had any problems/packet losses in CS go, dota, ping tests etc.
I'm starting to notice a pattern of the 'woosh' effect where I gain a bit one day then drop to a new low the following day, and the cycle repeats.
I (31 F) am overweight. Always been big, but got to the biggest I have ever been in Jan 2019. Jan - March I lost 10 pounds and from March - now I have lost 5.
Lockdown really slowed down my weight loss at the beginning, because of not moving as much, snacking and gin. However last four weeks I am back on it - but there seems to be absolutely no pattern to when I lose weight. Last week I ate incredibly well, got up 5 mornings in a row to do 20 mins of Cardio, I did a session of pilates and a boxing session and I didn't drink and i put on a pound.
This week I have been slack because it has been hot. I went on a long bike ride at the weekend but other than that, I haven't been on it. I have been eating right up to my calorie allowance (just over it on one day) and have drank - yet I have lost 3 pounds. Why is there no sense to my weight loss? Could it be where I am in my cycle? or is that just how it goes? I just want to make sense of my weight loss to help me 1. lose more weight and 2. not get depressed when it's not happening. Thanks x
I tested my internet using pingplotter, and I have very good ping with 0% packet loss, and Speeds of around 600 mbps up/down. When I play cs, especially on faceit servers, my packet loss jumps to 40%, while staying around 0-1% for 80% of the time. How do I fix this?
My Launch options:
-novid -nojoy -freq 144 -tickrate 128 -rate 128 +cl_forcepreload 1
Forgive me if I seem scatterbrained. I just had an unpleasant weight in (I think). I stated my current weight loss journey June 1st, weighing in at 420 (6 foot male, apprx 40% body fat). I've been trying to lose weight all of my adult life, which consisted of things like cutting out soda, fast food, regular exercise of cardio and/or weights, or intermittent fasting. I would do random combinations of these things to varying degrees of success, but nothing ever really stuck. At my heaviest, two years ago I was at 430. Anyway, for my current regimen, the rules are: 1800 calories a day (minus Sunday, cheat day, where I'll get usually around 3-4k), 7500 steps a day (minus Wednesday, rest day), a gallon of water a day (every day), no fast food except on cheat day, no soda or energy drinks ever, and I've stopped buying fruits and grains (one exception of this low carb high fiber tortilla I found) to reduce my carbs. In June, I lost 24 lbs and was down to 396. I just weighed in for this month, and though I've become even more active (started mowing lawns as a side job, began light resistance training), I've only lost 6 lbs, and today I'm in at 390. It's a loss, but a very small one for how restrictive and active I've been. I'm not discouraged, persay, because I swore to myself that I would continue what I'm doing with success or not, but I'm extremely confused and frustrated. Does anyone have any ideas or insight? Is this a normal plateau?
Apologies for the pseudo-science speak, lol, just wanted to share the thought. I'm talking about those who have a lot to lose, like 100+ lbs plus and succeeded, not the person who has always been a within a healthy weight range their whole life and just wants to tone up and lose some flab.
Does any of this make sense? It's kind of like a poetic irony too if you are an emotional/stress eater.... like, hormones probably contributed initially to your stressful/emo state where you binged on carbs for comfort. Every stressful episode followed by 'soothing'.
And now all that estrogen etc. trapped in your thick and lumpy excess rolls upon rolls of fa,t are being re-released into your bloodstream, it's like getting little emotional 'blasts from the pasts' mood swings, still intense, still difficult. Except this time you have the chance to experience and handle them in a way that doesnt involve stuffing your tears back with binging on whatever, or causing further sugar damage to your foggy malnourished brain.
Emotional excess and dealing with it seems to symmetrically bookend the beginning weight gain and the beginning of weight loss. Kinda like literally dealing with your karmic ( if you want to get new agey lol)/emotional/psychological "baggage" quite literally.
So maybe , for some of us, yes, it has to feel hopeless and difficult and painful at times on this journey back to health, and that's a good thing. This time you get to learn to ride those waves of moods and swings with a focus and determination. Deal with those excess hormones. Deal with those excess/trapped emotions.
Your prize isn't just your goal weight, but a stronger mind and a calmer , more free and more resilient spirit to brace future emotional weather, whatever it might bring.
Here's to me ,on my dinky little raft, trying to navigate a turbulent ocean to reach dry land...this time I will build a boat much stronger for myself. I'll make it.
EDIT: Woah, lots of interest in this topic! Adding some bodyfat / hormone related links here for the convenient further reading of anyone who is interested ( warning : brace yourselves for 'eat a low fat diet with plenty of fruit' type advice aplenty):
