I hope I would appreciate getting an answer because I am really nervous if the EMG was done correctly.
My right thenar thumb muscle - the adductor pollicis brevis is twitching since weeks whenever I move it in a certain position and it is slightly contracted.
One Neurologist performed an EMG and inserted the needle before looking where exactly it twitches.
We could both hear the twitching popping in the EMG as soon as I contracted the muscle slighty.
She was putting the needle deeper or in slightly different position, not sure, and said I should relax. Then she said contract again and I did and you could hear the sound again. She asked me again if I did it on purpose and I said yes. Then she said, maybe the Carpal Tunnel ( I had problems with it about 6 years ago) is causing the problem. As long as the EMG is silent when the muscle is relaxed I dont need to worry.
At home I saw it was about 1 cm above the twitching muscle. She put the needle in the flexor pollicis brevis and the twitching is in the adductor pollicis brevis. I asked via email because she was in hilidays and got a short answer that it was ok the way she did it.
Is that really true? I hear from people getting EMGs in a lot of muscles and she only put one needle and not in the twitching muscle Maybe the muscle was just moved from the fasciculations from the neighbour muscle so the EMG was ok, although it would not have been in the right spot?
Someone told me, it doesnt matter, because if it would be ALS you would also have seen it because of nerve pathways, or somehing like that. But I found out these two muscles are both innervated by the medianus nerve but the one she put the needle in, also from the nervus ulnaris.
I would appreciate any information
The strain/swelling isn't too bad but certain movements are painful. If I avoid these movements is it a good idea to keep lightly using my thumb as I normally would (for the movements that don't result in much pain/discomfort)?
I have found contradictory info online regarding the lower bicep tendon attachments. Here is my issue:

It seems like these pictures claim contradictory things becasue the left side picture claims that the long head of the bicep would attach to the bicipital aponeurosis and not to the same tendon the short head attaches to, but the right image claims they both attach to the same tendon and the tendon then parts into two.
Like this is my first issue and then my second issue is that does some of the bicep muscles (brachialis included) aid in the arm internal rotation by stabilizing the elbow so that the torque from the rotation doesn't damage the elbow ligaments?

It would appear that these muscles would have a great deal of potential in stabilizing the elbow during heavy efforts of internal rotation.
Like I ask these due to arm wrestling in which people specifically try to train this internal rotation so that it would help them in arm wrestling (they call it "side pressure"). The issue they usually just run into is that this movement very easily causes pain in the elbow and hence makes training the movement very problematic.
My own theory on this is that these bicep muscles stabilize the elbow a lot during this internal rotation and hence if this movement is trained without bicep involvement elbow injury or pain is very likely. Like just look where the brachialis attaches and also that bicipital aponeurosis tendon which seems to be attached to the bicep somehow. These both attach inside of the elbow and hence one could think that they also stabilize the elbow during heavy internal rotation. Also regarding brachialis, since it only crosses the elbow joint it seems to have great potential in stabilizing the elbow if flexed.
Like I know that "attaches inside of the elbow" doesn't mean it will necessarily help the internal rotation, becasue it might also help the outside rotation. I just made some own experiments with this and I think I might have concluded that the internal rotation doesn't cause pain when it is done with bicep involvement but I would just like to know does this make anatomically any sense or am I just imagining things.
