Welp, my βone in, one outβ rule has caught up to me. Not too long ago I was trying to fill my pen chest and now it hath runneth over. With the exception of exactly one pen which has escaped me, Iβve refined my collection down to the pens that spark joy. That means some of my dearests will need homes where they will spark joy for someone else.
Important disclaimer: Many of the pens in this lineup are vintage and therefore I make no warranties or guarantees about them other than what is mentioned here. Some of these pens are older than 100 years old. All of these pens are in the condition describe, they are fully operational and do not contain any cracks or chips, or any other defect which would impair the look or functionality of the pen.
All prices will have handling and insured shipping added to the invoice. Happy to calculate those costs for you in advance.
$1300 - Watermans No5 Red Ripple with Pink Nib (Vintage Flex XXF to BBB) Condition: D (vintage)
Iβve gone back and forth with whether not I want to sell this one for some time. I purchased it originally when I gave up hope of finding her bigger sister (No7 with Pink Nib) and of course, was offered one a short while later.
This pen is in incredible condition considering itβs age. It is a lever filler and the sac was replaced and pen restored in 2021. While you see many of Watermanβs color bands being replaced, this is the original band which is why it looks more brown than pink.
$495 - Watermans No 7 black celluloid red keyhole nib (Condition D: Vintage)
Another grail pen, acquired on my quest to obtain Watermanβs color nibs. This stunner comes from the late 1920βs, after Watermanβs succumbed to the pressure of switching to celluloid. The nib is divine and writes from M to BB with little pressure but isnβt a wet noodle as the red nib was intended to be less flexible than the pink.
$195 - Watermans Ink Vue with semi flex nib (Condition D: Vintage)

... keep reading on reddit β‘I got into fountain pens after being introduced to so many amazing ink options via my dip pen calligraphy, so I have always expected my flex experience with a fountain pen to be different and likely not worth it.
HOWEVER.
I still have the urge to try 2 years into the hobby. I have been researching quite a bit and have seen nice writing samples and good line contrast with both a new Falcon EF and a Waterman or Eversharp vintage, but i have always been nervous around vintage pens, not knowing anything about the restoration process or lifespan/care.
For anyone else who has tried one, what are some upsides and downsides of either, or observations that could help me make a decision here?
(My budget is under $200 so restored vintage flex may already be limited, but i am patient and tend to have good luck bargain hunting!)
First nib was probably F, for a long time i didn't even know there were nib choices. This sub showed me the way and i enjoyed Preppy F, gotten M nibs for shading inks, then went hard on Stubs and flex. Now settling to B for shimmer inks, but i find myself craving for finer nibs sometimes. Next year, would like to try Fude and Japanese F; extreme, i know...
How was your nib journey? Are there any F nibbed pens out there that can handle any ink?
Anyone love flex? This is the amazing Secretary of Deflex from pen realm with ebonite feed :) I just reinked after a year and realized I prefer a good stiff nib.
$130 shipped.
I observed that John Mottishaw offers a flex nib ground on some pens like Platinum Century 3776, Pilot Falcon, Pilot Custom 912.
Has anyone tried it ? How flexy are they ? Like how much pressure is needed to flex the nib ? Is it like a wet noodle ?
Looking to upgrade my previous pen, but I've realized I really like the traditional flexible nib of vintage fountain pens. Any website recommendations or even pen/nib names/brands. I've tried goulet pens, but they don't have what I'm looking for. Thank you!

Verification, Album and Writing Sample: https://imgur.com/a/7ZT6GvN SOLD 1928 Waterman's 94 in Olive Ripple Hard Rubber - LF - Aftermarket clip on the cap, 14K Ideal #4 Fine Full Flex Nib.......(Rated D due to replacement parts, wear, pitting on lever) These pens are getting much harder to come by. Here is a fantastic looking pen. The barrel imprints are quite worn and can barely be seen. The clip has come off the cap and at some point someone attached a replacement that's not original to the pen. The ink sac has been replaced about a year ago, so it should have plenty life to it. The pen is ready to go on for the next hundred years if it's maintained properly. The 14K #4 Nib lays down a fine line with no pressure and flexes up to a BB. The lever has some pitting and plating wear, as does the cap band, see pictures. I have priced this to move, well below the going rate. Still writes incredibly. SOLDAsking $210.00 Shipped (CONUS ONLY) OBO. SOLD
Thanks for your interest. Hoping it finds a good home. Stay Safe and Happy Writing.

The ink sac has been replaced within the last couple years I would say, by it's super pliable condition. The nib is the big star with amazing flex. Can flex from a fine to a BBB no issue. No stress cracks, nor sign of significant wear on the nib, so it should last another 100 years with the correct maintenance. Great price for a vintage flex pen that's in this condition IMO. Hi all, my first post here after lurking for a little while. Thank you for being such a positive and enthusiastic sub! (One of the nicest, warmest subs Iβve ever seen, and thatβs something for another post.)
Iβve dipped my toes into FP waters with a few Lamy Safaris and one Sheaffer Pop (BB-8) that I adore, but I would love to try a flex nib pen next, especially to improve my calligraphy. After some quick Googling I think that Lamys donβt make any flex nibs m for me to install in one of mine.
I know these sorts of posts can be annoying so I apologise in advance but does anyone have any recommendations please? My preferences:
But Iβm open to any and all suggestions anyone might have please! Only put so many preferences above so as to give an idea of my writing style/habits and hopefully it helps.
Thank you very very much in advance and I look so much forward to delving deeper into this world!
Hello everyone, this is my first ever post on Reddit and in this community!
Iβm writing with fountain pens since primary school (because you have to use them in primary school in Germany) and lately I got into it again and discovered this whole βworldβ around it.
Since I really like to do calligraphy, I was wondering if there is a fountain pen with a flexible nib. And I indeed found some: extremely expensive or from the US, which means a lot of waiting time, taxes and shipping costs. Since I donβt want/can spend over 100β¬ for a pen I was wondering if someone knows if there is a flex nib fountain pen in this price range in Germany or in Poland (because Iβm living in Germany and going for a vacation quite soon to Poland).
If there is someone from one of these countries: Iβm living close to Bremen (Germany) and I will be close to GdaΕsk (Poland). Or does someone knows a german online shop that is selling some?
Thank you, in advance!
Ps: I got two Lamy Safari, one Lamy Al Star and my newest fountain pen is the TWSBI Eco.
I have been quite interested in some Flexnibs for a while. I have always had a love for lettering and variable line width. And while I definitely can get that from a normal fountain pen (which si why i love them) I was thinking of trying what that would be put to the "extreme"
However, looking for flex nib pens has been quite a doozy for me. A lot of mixed reviews i was unsure how to read or prizes that were definitely not about the nib anymore (700 is good for a pretty pen but i am not that wealthy) so I wondered if anybody here knew some good recommendations for something that is more... in a reasonable prize range and less in the artistic part of fountain pens.
Prices include USA shipping. Happy to ship worldwide at cost, generally $25-35.
Faber Castell Ambition B - Condition B. Nib writes very smoothly, I have no complaints about this pen. Does not come with a box. $50
Vintage Pelikan M600 OB - condition C++. Trim is shiny but there is some chipping on the band at the nib, and on the finial band directly above the clip. Cap and green striping have microscratches only and both present very well. Pen has the 2-tone 18C OB nib. Please note, this vintage M600 was made before the size change and is the same physical size as the modern M400. No box. $249 $229
Pelikan M400 IB nib 14C - Condition B. Very good condition loose nib. $180
Waterman's 32 Flex Nib - Condition B, excellent with good imprints. This is the same pen listed here previously on pen_swap, spot #1 the 32 pen set. You can see a writing sample and more pics there. Please note I am only selling the fountain pen. $175
Faber Castell Loom Gunmetal Matte - condition B+. I bought the pen body new, and swapped in an Aurora 14k Italic nib. Small Aurora nibs are direct swaps for JoWo #5 nibs. Comes with a box. This pen writes very well, the Aurora italic is a nice and unique upgrade for this pen. $100
Aurora 88 Minerali Cinnabar OBB - Condition B. Limited edition #217 of 388. Unfortunately I no longer have the box for this. Very unique with the OBB nib, which creates beautifully. Barrel is perfectly clear with absolutely no staining. I bought the pen used but have never inked it...it may be uninked.
$395
Please note I also still have old TR52 notebooks available in this post - the inventory counts are current.
My question is two parts:
What is a good dip pen/set of dip pens and flex nibs to start out with? And can I use my fountain pen inks with them?
I know it isnβt the same, but if I did get a flex nib (non vintage) for my TWSBI Diamond 580, would an FPR Ultra Flex 5.5 work? If so, should I use it with the feed that comes with the TWSBI, or get the ebonite feed that they have at FPR? If that latter, which length feed?
Thanks for any help can provide!
Been using these almost since I started digital, way back on the Intuos4 - and then onto the Cintiq 22HD.
Specifically these (Amazon, but the shipping time is insane...)
I'm on my last one, so I went to the Wacom site to see if if I could find them there, but nope.
Anyone have any idea what's going on with the lack of availability, or maybe another (faster shipping) source?
If not that, I'd be fine with an alternative, but having tried all of felt nibs... They aren't quite the same.
Halp please lol
As the title says, what would the more experienced members of the community recommend? I'm still learning a lot about fountain pens and all their little details and I'd like to experiment with and practice with different types of nibs. Using a flex nib looks like fun if I want to do something different but I don't know what brand to use. Are there inexpensive options? I obviously wouldn't want to spend serious money on something I might potentially break or rough up during my learning curve.
And since I'm asking questions, what are some good resources for learning about pens? I know some stores, like Goulet, have pen 101 sections with videos and such to teach you things but what about Youtube? There's plenty to find but I'd like to stick to people who are to the point and explain things well. I'm especially curious about things like tuning and pen maintenance as well as nib exchange/replacement. I'm building quite a collection and I know they wear down from use. I'd like to be able to repair and maintain then ever throw one in the trash.
Edit- Wow, a lot of good responses. Looks like I have some pens to look into. I really appreciate all the comments and help. The sheer number of pens out there can be overwhelming sometimes so it's nice to have a little direction. Thank you to everyone who replied.
Hello fountain pen flex writers, another great quality flex pen here. The Aikin (unknown why there's the mis spelling of Aiken, as Waterman was in control of company during this time? If any experts would like to chime in that would be awesome) 14k wasn't pure enough to be considered gold in Euro market, required minimum of 18K, hence the reason for the 18K nib. Original cap clip is missing, but there is a Mabie Todd & Co Ltd "Clipper" Accomodation clip on it in place of it

Hello!
I am relatively new to fountain pens, and so far have only lurked here. But Iβm having some trouble with my pen and wondering if anyone has any wisdom.
Iβm using a Monteverde Innova with omniflex (jowo 5) nib. It writes a very thick, wet line which is almost illegible in my usual writing size. I also have trouble starting lines. About 30% of the time it doesnβt flow when I start a word or line. I havenβt even tried varying line thickness because itβs already thicker than my other pens. Iβll upload some pictures of the pen and writing as soon as I figure out how.
I have tried to be careful not to use much pressure, and I watched videos from goulet on pushing the tines together (which Iβve tried). My question: is this user error? If I practice my angles enough will it write more like I see on the videos? Or would I be better off trying out a different nib? Has anyone else has this problem?
Thanks for any advice!
