Morning coffee lovers, I was visiting Elora for a music festival this weekend, and while trying to find some decent coffee I stumbled into The Vault Coffee & Espresso Bar in Fergus. Not only was this old building the most beautiful thing I've ever seen, but they make a mean pour-over coffee. We went there 3/3 days because it was so good. I’m the last person to throw out a race card to be honest, but Ive noticed a pattern the past 2 weeks, and it’s kinda sad. I tried to brush it off initially but it seems like it’s kind of a prevalent thing in my opinion.
So, the past 2 weeks, I’ve decided to visit towns/ smaller cities in Ontario. Ive been to Paris, Collingwood, Simcoe, Grimsby, Fergus, Niagara on the Lake, and couple others. It’s usually day trips and I take my camera with me to take pictures and record.
Anyways, I noticed certain subtle behaviour from people that seemed odd at first, but looking back, it was probably them being discriminatory or prejudiced. Certain things like checking my receipt as I leave the store when people ahead of me and behind freely walked in and out. Rude cold shoulder when I ask for things like directions. Being told a restaurant or cafe doesn’t have capacity but I see people come in couple minutes after even though I see no reservation list or reserved tables.
Or typical questions like where I’m from even though I told them I was born here. The good ole “no no, where are you REALLY from?” I also had people ask me questions like how I bought my car and even made jokes that I made it with quick cash or selling weed as one dude “jokingly” said.
I let most of it go cause I’m usually a laidback dude and just assume people like that are having a bad day. But today was blatant racism I faced and it honestly made me wanna just never leave Toronto. I was walking in Collingwood, and I’m leaving a mall/centre, and this old dude is walking in. I move slightly to the left to let him pass but he goes out of his way to shoulder nudge me. It wasn’t light either. I got kinda annoyed and kissed my teeth loudly and this guy yells “What did you say!”
I’m a pretty tall guy. Around 6’4, so I’m not usually physically intimidated by most people. This dude came close to my face, pulls his mask down and starts saying “what did you say?! Say it again you bitch.”
I’m shocked at this point and it’s kind of causing a scene, so I feel embarrassed. So I walk away and this douche says “Yaa thought so. Run away just like your parents when they left your country for here. Be grateful we provide for you scum.”
When I heard that, I was in complete shock. That was the first time I’ve ever experienced blatant racism like that. I wish I could say that I said something cool and witty back but I just kinda stared at the guy cause like I said… I was truly shocked. Then the worst part of i

I am moving to Fergus Ontario which is out of the reach of Freedom's coverage. When I am there I am unable to text (as they always try to imessage) and I cannot use data. On the phone it says "Nationwide" sometimes, and I think "LTE" sometimes, but data doesnt work. I just talked to Freedom and they said there is no way to use other networks for data when I asked if it was possible to add "Nationwide" data to my phone. Is my only option to eat the cost and buy out my contract? (I needed a phone when I started this plan so this option is expensive if I switch networks)
For context I'm a Refuse Driver (Garbage man) & today I was on food waste. After I'd tipped I was checking the wagon for any defects when I spotted a lone pea balanced on the lifts.
I said "hey look, an escaPEA"
No one near me but it didn't half make me laugh for a good hour or so!
