A list of puns related to "Exposures β In Retrospect and Denial"
Hereβs a text conversation between me (27F) and Mom (59F) about Thanksgiving. Copied and pasted from text messages. I added more context regarding my momβs ex at the bottom of this post.
ME: Is it going to be just us for Thanksgiving at Uncleβs? I want to see Nonna but Iβm not dealing with Rick
NMOM: It will be just us but I donβt appreciate you telling me who I can and cannot have in my life. It is my choice. Rick will be with his daughter and family since we are not a couple . We are friends.
ME: When did I tell you who you can or canβt have in your life? I choose who is in MY life.
NMOM: Um really? We are a family and everyone that comes into our lives is in all our lives!!!
ME: Thatβs not how that works. I donβt have any obligation to interact with anyone who I donβt want to have in my life.
NMOM: You are not three years old!!!
ME: Correct. Iβm an adult who has the right to choose who is in my life.
NMOM: You are acting like a 3 year old stomping your feet if you dont get your way!!! Im tired. Itβs been a long day.
ME: Iβm not stomping my feet. Iβm telling you what I will do and wonβt do as an adult who can make her own decisions. It seems like youβre the one whoβs getting emotional here. You can live your life however you want, and the same applies to me.
NMOM: If you behaved like an adult you would accept whoever I want in my life and be civil.
ME: I accept that you can have whoever you want in your life. That doesnβt mean I have to accept them in my life if I have a problem with them.
NMOM: But by you pouting and refusing to join the family hurts the family when all you have to do is be polite and be part of our family. You are hurting Nonna so much and yes she cries every day because she has one grandchild and never sees you. That is abuse and neglect. Put her ahead of yourself and make her happy. We really donβt have much time left with her!!!
I need to go rest now!! Good night!!!!
ME: Itβs not Nonna I avoid, itβs you. This toxic relationship is unhealthy and every time I talk to you, I feel like I am never heard and respected. Respect is a two way street. You have to give respect to earn respect. I want to have a relationship with Nonna but Iβm not sacrificing my mental health or happiness by dealing with you getting in the way of that.
NMOM: Justify all you want in your head but you and I always had a great relationship and something changed almost overnight with you. I blame college! You left a beautiful

Is it just to live up to the meme? Or are there some valid reasons? Does compile time eventually isnt that big of a thing? I know we all evaluate our time differently but if you were asked whether the time spent on gentoo is worthwhile what would you say?
Back in 2017 when 8th was announced there was a lot of rumbling and griping about how GW was ruining 40K and making it too casual because you didn't need a 10x10 chart for combat. Comparisons were made to Age of Sigmar because of the similarities. To sumarize here are the major changes that were received in varying ways:
There many more changes made, more than I have the time to detail here. What do you all think of these changes after playing with them for a few years? What do you think of the outrage back in the day?
Day 75.
Today's blog post is on methods to handle modality. Check it out below:
Best,

Forges: "Ok people, let's set up a three man activity that allows people to forge guns. We can put it in patrol areas to give people reason to go there, and we will make he quests long so they have something to do."
Dawning: "Ok people, let's test out this crafting idea. We will add recipes for cookies and place the ingredients all over the place. Also let's tie a good weapon or sparrow or something to doing this, see if people like having more reasons to do the event."
Drifter: "Ok, people seem to like Gambit but it's getting stale. Let's add a new version of it with new rules. Also we can tie it to another activity, see if tying activities together intimately works. Let's make it kinda a cross between a public event and a raid activity. Maybe balance it around powerful exotics that we nerf later, see if it becomes too hard."
Spring Event: "Ok, people liked the haunted forest last year, let's mess with the formula a bit, and make the weapon from it a exotic. See if people like or dislike that. We can also have something that can be used to empower them. Yeah we probably should turn it off in PVP and just have it in PVE, but since this is a test of empowering I saw we roll with it."
Opulence: "Ok, people seem to really want matchmade raids. We can't really do that right now, but let's give them something akin to raids but with no fail state, see how that works and if people like it. Also we can add like a trial range area where people can celebrate their achievements, see if that is also something people like. Also also, people liked that crafting thing from Dawning, what if we altered that a bit to see this new version and gave them rewards from it?"
I think it's interesting because some of these things people liked, some they did not, and some were ok but need altering for the future, but hopefully Bungie learned from all of them.

Hedge fund legend Ray Dalio talks about the losses his fund has taken. They had to decide how to respond to the coronavirus situation, and just sat on their hands. No doubt many more mutual and hedge funds are having to make tough re-allocation decisions right now. I know folks here are mostly buy-and-never-sell index investors, but this is an interesting glimpse into the active investment side of things.
edit: I actually don't understand why active funds like his didn't take larger hedging measures against the virus spreading and disrupting economies everywhere. If there's, say, a 30% chance of a 30-50% fall in equities, it would be remiss for active managers not to hedge against that scenario. While hindsight is 20-20, choosing not to take action was really an active bet that the virus wouldn't have significant impact, and I don't see why he or the analyst-managers at his firm made that call.
I mean literally youtubers were complaining how out of character Oden was, how he was defeated, etc. 971 really ties it all together nicely I feel.
I know there are going to be some people that disagree with this, but Oden is a fucking legend for what he did and what he's doing now.
I mean doing something like dancing naked on the streets to prevent human trafficking is a pretty damn sweet deal. People are like, "He should've just attacked Kaido in the first place!" But he tried, TWICE and failed. Both in a flashback this chapter and in the battle from 970. There was literally nothing else Oden could do. He couldn't even get off Wano to get help.
This is the best tl;dr I could make, original reduced by 76%. (I'm a bot)
> An international group of researchers has come up with a new plan to help astronauts survive high-level radiation in space - and even get them to Mars without the deadly exposure expected during three years of space travel.
> It is estimated that a return trip from Mars would expose astronauts to radiation doses of 600 mSv - a large proportion of the lifetime cap Nasa sets for space travellers of 800-1200 mSv.
> Nasa identified radiation as one of its top research priorities last year, and said in 2015: "Though far off, a medication that would counteract some or all of the health effects of radiation exposure would make it much easier to plan for a safe journey to Mars and back."
> A team of physicists at the University of New Hampshire recently published results of a deep space radiation study, which measured four years of radiation dose levels tracked by Nasa's Lunar Reconnaissance Orbiter, which has circled the moon since 2009, and compared their findings to previous measurements.
> The results showed a 30% increase in radiation over the last four years, leading scientists to conclude future astronauts will be exposed to higher levels of radiation.
> Costes could not comment on Nasa's future involvement with gene therapy, but said, "We got involved in this because of our expertise in radiation biology and space biology."

... keep reading on reddit β‘Hi Reddit! 26 year old guy here in desperate need of wise worldly people for some mentoring and guidance!
Quick break down of my situation:
My only goal after graduating university was to travel. I grew up quite poor and so never travelled or had a passport as a kid, so seeing the world was my absolute number one priority. Since then Iβve lived in New Zealand, California, Vietnam and Cambodia and paid for it all myself doing basic retail and hospitality jobs, mostly for charities. Itβs been wonderful and nice but now Iβm back in England and suddenly faced with the reality of being pretty much unemployable for anything other than the most basic of work, and itβs a bit depressing going for with 16 year olds of minimum wage jobs. I totally accept it as the price Iβve paid for travelling for so long, but Iβd like to get going on a real career as soon as possible!
(You can probably skip this next bit but slightly more info if youβd like it and I thought it was kinda well written):
My parents are a bit like sims that youβve maxed out on the βkind nurturing and dependableβ stats and totally dumped the βsuccessful career adviceβ ones, which is great for making me not a serial killer but totally unhelpful in terms of being any help in my current situation. The world of professional employment seems like it might as well be the moon for how achievable it seems. At the moment I have the exact same feeling of unbridled terror as I did the first time I tried to cross a road in Hanoi. Fortunately, once Iβd got to grips with how Hanoi worked it became my favourite place in the world, and I have no doubt having a professional career and life will end up the same way! I just really need someone to grab my hand and guide me through the 6,000,000 loud beeping scooters of confusion between me and the questionable street food vendor that in this terrible metaphor represents my career.
Iβm working part time in a vegan wholefoods co-operative at the moment which is a nice work environment and allows a lot of freedom with when and how much I work, but Iβm definitely ready to start a career and try and get employed somewhere that has long term security and means Iβll be working with adults rather than 16 year olds!
The actual important bit! (Finally):
I have an undergraduate degree in Radio production and Technology (Bsc) which is pretty useless so Iβve just been looking into perhaps studying either a conversion course or just going on to do a masters that w
