A list of puns related to "ExploreLearning"
I love explorelearning.com and especially its STEM cases. I was wondering if there are any other sites that help students practice science skills which could be assessed in-situ. Thanks!
It's ya' boy B_T here with another community update post! For a while, I was letting ButtFarm write these posts since he had a real knack for them. Now that he has stepped away (I miss you, man), I am back in the cockpit... so, with that said, BUCKLE UP.

As the sub grows, so must the mod team. We have two amazing people joining us this round of additions. Say hello to Bah2o and Half_Dane! We had them write a short bio to introduce themselves so I will pass it off to them:

>In all honesty, I've just been making what I think are helpful suggestions and posting them on the sub or commenting them at the Front Desk. Submissions regarding how the flairs work (or don't, especially on mobile or the old flair list in the menu) and suggestions about how to improve the Wiki and Daily Thread (Lmayo check the "flair systems" link in the Daily ๐ we're gonna fix that. I don't want to step on anybody's toes here, but the amount of non-dad jokes here in this subreddit really annoys me. First of all, dad jokes CAN be NSFW, it clearly says so in the sub rules. Secondly, it doesn't automatically make it a dad joke if it's from a conversation between you and your child. Most importantly, the jokes that your CHILDREN tell YOU are not dad jokes. The point of a dad joke is that it's so cheesy only a dad who's trying to be funny would make such a joke. That's it. They are stupid plays on words, lame puns and so on. There has to be a clever pun or wordplay for it to be considered a dad joke.
Again, to all the fellow dads, I apologise if I'm sounding too harsh. But I just needed to get it off my chest.
So I recently rewatched the first two hours of TRW AND New Light with the express intention of analyzing how both teach and engage players. Having returned to D2 a few months ago, I had the distinct recollection that TRW just did it better, but I wanted to make sure I wasn't wearing rose colored glasses here.
I'm now convinced I wasn't.
Let's look at The Red War, which establishes its story hook for almost an hour, then immerses the player in the mechanics beyond basic shooter fare:
Now that the player is hooked, the game IMMEDIATELY changes gears from tell a story to explain game mechanics.
It's true
Like all beings, the cow was brought into being by the universe.
The cow was very curious about its existence and asked a lot of questions of the universe.
"what am I?" it asked.
"a cow" the universe relied.
"why am I here?" it asked
"to be a cow" the universe relied, and nudged a pile of hay nearby, trying to distract her from digging deeper into that question.
The universe has a lot on its plate, existentially speaking, and in the past its gotten a bit fed up with some of its creatures.
But after what happened to Adam and Eve, the universe learned to be more patient with inquisitive beings.
The success of cats is largely because they take responsibility for their own curiosity.
But the cow was a bit needier, seeking answers rather than exploration.
The universe hoped the smell from the hay would entice it to act rather than ask.
"What's that?" the cow asked.
"Hay" the universe sighed..."for eating," it added, hoping to keep the cow quiet for a while so the universe could focus on other things.
It worked for a while but as soon as the cow's 4 stomachs were full it started asking questions again.
And that's when the universe created a bull.
"And what is that?" she asked
"That's a bull" the universe replied and wiggled its existential eyebrows suggestively.
The cow headed over to the bull and chatted him up, leaving the universe in peace for a while.
The cow was content in until she started started noticing some changes in her body.
"what's this?" she asked, pointing to her swelling body.
"You're pregnant" it replied.
She got really curious about what that meant and became very hyper asking question after question about pregnancy and birth.
She remained excited throughout the gestation, asking questions to prepare for her for the birth.
But when the day came she relaxed, and stayed focused on the task at hand. And after she gave birth, she was exhausted!
Nevertheless, she pulled herself together, looked at the baby that she brought in to the world and, predictably, asked the universe:
"What's that?"
"A calf" the universe sighed, trying to accept the relentless inquisitiveness of the cow.
"Ohhhh!" she sighed, "that explains it!"
The universe blinked. It couldn't help itself.
"Explains what?" it asked.
"Why I'm so tired!"
The universe paused.
"it's because," the cow said, "I'm decalfinated".
And the universe took the power of speech away from the cow for eternity.

Video games, in case you donโt know, are pretty complicated to make. But by the early 2010s, the indie scene began to blossom as new titles independently created and published by developers garnered enormous success. From platformers like Super Meat Boy to experimental projects like Braid, it became easier than ever for independent creators to enter the industry as it entered the new decade. Of course, the indie scene is also no stranger to failed and underwhelming projects. And despite its ambition and scope initially launching the game to internet stardom, Cube World has become synonymous with disappointment and development hell throughout its eight year (and counting) history.
New Spawn
Cube World first began development in June 2011, created by a developer by the name of Wolfram von Funck along with his wife, Sarah. Initially, announced on the TIGsource forums, it already began catching headlines a few weeks in as Wolfram (or Wollay as heโs more commonly referred to) would explain his vision for the game. It was clear Minecraft was his main inspiration, promising a procedurally generated world that the player could explore to their heartโs content while slaying monsters and delving into dungeons. Initially, he pitched the title as a sort of hobby project, but awareness would only grow over the next few years as Cube World became much bigger than what most probably imagined.
Soon, the creator would make his own website for the game, and his Youtube channel quickly amassed a solid viewership as the project progressed rapidly in scope and complexity. By 2012, he had already garnered a strong fanbase, and it was clear this was far more than just some attempt at recreating the burgeoning success of Minecraft. Despite its blocky exterior, Cube World played much more like an Action RPG, with exploration and quests rewarding players with new skills in their chosen class and better equipment. More focus was placed on fighting monsters, learning the ins and outs of the simple combat system to defeat enemies while traversing the massive world.

So if youโve followed my content here in any capacity over the past few years, you may have heard of the โTrue Historyโ, a mega-theory about what I believe the One Piece could be that Iโve been talking about wanting to make for years. Iโm happy to say that it is now finally complete! I preferred creating it in video format, but as per reddit guidelines Iโve also included it in text format below so you can read it that way as well, though Iโd personally recommend watching it as a video since thatโs how I envisioned creating it. Eitherway, enjoy!

#PREMISE
โOne Pieceโ has to be one of the most bizarre titles of any manga ever created, because for as concise and simplistic as it is, no one really knowsโฆ what it actually means. And so, countless have tried across the ages to deduce what the One Piece could be. I myself spent five years of thoroughly studying the series to come to my own answer. And ultimately, I believe that I know what the One Piece isโฆ but at the same time, I think that YOU know what the One Piece is! I believe that every single reader actually already knows what the treasure isโฆ they just havenโt become aware of it. Eiichiro Oda has hid this enormous mystery right under our noses, so my premise is that Iโm going to show you what I believe the One Piece treasure is, how I believe Oda hid it in plain sight, and how it ties with some of the most fundamentally important narrative elements in the series! Letโs begin!
#A SUMMARY OF THE VOID CENTURY
This theory serves as part of a project that explored several narrative themes in the series, all to help motivate my points about what I believe the One Piece is. Iโve made seven unique videos that delve into each and every topic, but I do realize thatโs a lot to watch, so if you havenโt seen them or arenโt interested, Iโll quickly summarize all the important points below:
Interstellar Design Consortium Conference
โI always love seeing all the small updates and upgrades to design all the different species have,โ Tyber rippled gleefully.
โYeah, yeah, the same stuff as last year with all the normal minimum changes needed to qualify to even come to the conference,โ Cesar bemoaned, shaking themselves a bit.
โCome on. Itโs not that bad. Besides, you know the conference is where the new species get to show off their own designs. What could be more exciting than seeing how a new species designs their spacecraft?โ Tyber refused to give into Cesarโs energy.
โI suppose, but there are only so many ways to build vessels that you reach a point where a Bullockian cruiser and a Wenian cruiser are practically indistinguishable.โ
Cesar gripped a piece of food, assured that the day would be filled with excessive treats; so some decent food should be obtained at least.
โMaybe to the entirely untrained eye, but those two speciesโ vessels look nothing alike to us,โ Tyber also decided that food was a good idea.
โDid you actually read the brochure?โ Cesar prompted.
โMore or less. Thereโs going to be several exhibitions of the latest improvements,โ Tyber said.
โAnd you apparently didnโt notice that they moved halls specifically for this solar cycle,โ Cesar mentioned.
โSo?โ
โWhen in the last 100 solar cycles has the conference moved from the normal exhibition hall?โ Cesar asked.
This required a bit of thought by Tyber.
โNot since the Julans joined and first attended the conference. Their design principles were so radical, the conference council moved the conference just to be able to give them adequate exhibition space,โ Tyber said, recounting as though reading or recounting one of their design teachers, before looking back at Cesar. โWhy?โ
Cesar was busy eating and so did not immediately respond. Luckily Tyber was there and hated silence.
โOh! You think that one of the new species maybe has something similar?โ Tyber asked, their excited energy returning.
Cesar rippled in response.
โI want to go see these new designs then. This will be so much fun!โ Tyber said, practically towing Cesar away from the food towards the auto-transports.
โ
โWhatโsโฆ whatโs this?โ Tyber exclaimed.
The view before Tyber was alien. There was no other word for it.
As far as Tyber could tell and see, one of the new species had so many different designs, the conference had given them not two, but five rows of exhibition space. Such a quantity of space

The theory you are about to read is something I've been improving for years. The details behind it evolved with the story, of course, but the overall structure remained constant for over a decade. Back then, I predicted that Boa Hancock would lose her title and be hunted by the government.
Over the years, more and more signs of it coming true piled up. When the coming Reverie was announced in Fishman Island, I thought it would have something to do with it. When Fujitora revealed his intention to destroy the Warlord system in Dressrosa, I knew it would indeed happen. I was so excited when we finally saw that fleet approaching Amazon Lily!
With Wano coming to a close soon(ish), I think it's time to compile the entire theory in one spot. It's a shame AP Forums aren't available to pester them with this, so Reddit will be my victim this time.
This will be a long post, so let's start with a TLDR, and you decide if it's worth to read it in full. Here's the general gist:
So, let's begin!
For some reason, this is a controversial topic: suggesting Boa Hancock will lose her battle is a sure way to get downvotes around here. Most opinions I see, even from YouTubers, seem convinced that there's no way Hancock will lose. And, yet, I feel it's inevitable.
Let's delve into it:
People seem to think that what we were shown in Chapter 956 is all that there is to know about those marine fleets. They think that Koby is the strongest guy leadimng the attack on Amazon Lily, and often talk as if Mihawk and Weevil were being hunted only by nameless mooks.
No, this is all-out war, and the marines are sparing no efforts to bring the Warlords down. In Chapter 957, Sakazuki says it clearly that their forces are too busy with the Warlords to deal with the Emperor Alliance between Big Mom and Kaido. That's why we have no marine force present in

Starting Jan 11th, I will be running a FREE live intensive full stack web development bootcamp covering everything you need to know to go from no technical skills to employable. Weโll meet every Tuesday and Thursday from 6:30pm EST to 9:30pm EST with office hours on Sundays from 12pm EST to 3pm EST on Twitch. The goal is to give folks who have been laid off or affected by the pandemic the tools they need to command a job in software engineering. Last cohort saw 65 folx get jobs with an average increase in salary of $53,000!
If you would like to join, please follow the instructions [here](https://leonnoel.com/100devs/).
Also, feel free to ask any questions here! About the bootcamp, how to get a job in tech, or the dark side of coding bootcamps. I'll answer every single one :)
A little about me:
Iโm Managing Director of Engineering for [Resilient Coders](http://resilientcoders.org/). We help folx underrepresented in tech break into high paying careers as software engineers. Weโre pretty damn good at it too. 85% of our graduates, most of whom do not have degrees or prior experience, go on to get full time offers at an average starting salary of $98,000. All free and stipended. No bullshit or funny business. Iโm also a Distinguished Faculty Member at General Assembly were Iโve been helping folks learn to code for the past 9 years. You can see a sampling of my classes taught at Harvard, MIT, and elsewhere [here](https://leonnoel.com/teach/) and reviews from my past students [here](https://leonnoel.com/students/).
What to expect:
Weโll have class two nights a week with the expectation that you come prepared and have done the assigned reading ahead of time. I like to use lecture as a means of exploration and not dictation, but that only works if you come prepared. The first half of class will be exploring new topics and the second half will be lab. During lab, you will tackle what we just covered by building. Youโll never just listen to me and then sign off. Youโll have real time guidance / feedback and a chance to have all your questions answered. We'll be covering Full stack Javascript - HTML, CSS, JS, Node, React, and MongoDB!
This course is designed to give you the skills you will need to pursue a career as a software engineer, but will only work if you are committed and ready to put in ser

I'm aware this is not a very long time so I thought instead of giving investment advice, I would share how I earn and buy crypto. As we all know, college isn't cheap and I use many popular methods among this sub to earn and buy crypto but I also think I have found some lesser-known ways to fund my investments. I especially recommend some of these methods for other college students because I find they're easy to do during small breaks in my day.
I will be breaking this post into two parts:
Before I begin, I do want to touch on GPT sites because I will be referencing them throughout the post. A GPT (Get-Paid-To) site is a website where users are paid to complete a variety of tasks such as taking surveys, playing games, and watching videos. I want to emphasize that the vast majority of these sites are not worth your time and are not as good as they might seem to be. That being said, there are some gems out there that I use consistently.
These are all methods of how I "earn" crypto, rather than buy it. This means that none of this comes at any monetary cost to me and as a college student, I believe many of these are well worth your time to take advantage of.
Moons:
I think most of us, if not all of us know what Moons are. It's literally free crypto. I would say I do my fair share of shitposting with some actual quality content thrown in there but who doesn't? Hell, it's half the reason I'm making this post.
Coinbase Earn and CMC Earn
Like Moons, Coinbase Earn and CoinMarketCap Earn are literally free crypto. Both involve learning a little about a cryptocurrency or token, taking a short quiz, and receiving a small amount of the coin or token. I can't say a lot about CMC earn because it isn't available in the US but for Coinbase earn, the offers don't come around very often but they're worth doing. All in all, I have made about $44 in various coins and tokens from Coinbase Earn and I highly recommend using it.
Brave Browser:
This is another popular one among this sub but for those who don't know, Brave is an open-source Browser built on Chromium that rewards its users in BAT to view small ads within the browser. Being built on Chromium, its UI is identical to Chrome but Brave comes with some other features including a built-in ad-blocker. I tend to make between 5-10 BAT per month and could not be happier wi

Original Post- 27 September 2021
My wife and I have been married for six years. We have no children. Last July, tensions were high between us. I'm an essential worker, I work the night shift and sleep during the day while she's at work. She was working from home due to COVID and was very loud. This kept waking me up and making me a very crabby person. So I was admittedly very short with her and she was not accommodating to me at all.
As a result, the time we did have together was very tense between us. It's normally a very happy time, but we weren't able to enjoy it at all. We made the decision to do a trial separation, both go to therapy separately, and try couple's therapy after a few months.
As my company was frontline, they offered to put us up in a hotel so as not to risk our families, so I took advantage of this and moved out. I asked my wife for ground rules. My exact wording was, "So that I understand this, are we seeing other people during this time?"
She angrily replied, "If that's the first place your mind goes, then maybe it's not even worth it! I want to save our marriage, not give you an opportunity to go screw around!" I apologized and assured her that I only wanted to understand where we stood.
So over the past year, I've been in therapy. I talked to my boss and got my shift at work changed to the day shift because I realized that the night shift was really taking a toll on my mental health. I've learned to be firm but open and communicative and not bottle things up. I honestly feel so much better about myself as a person.
My wife and I started couples counseling at the beginning of this year, and it's been really great for us. We both were open about what was wrong, both recognized the faults that we had, and both committed to wanting to make things better.
We made the decision for me to move back in next month and bring the separation to an end. During our most recent session, our counselor asked if I had completely broken off any relationships that I had during our separation.
I replied, "I didn't have any relationships during our separation. We established ground rules that this wasn't about having fun with other people, it was about getting better for our relationship to survive."
My wife replied, "We never established that as a ground rule."
I quoted her wor

In This chapter:
Super vague, I know. My dad died of covid-19 this past November 18th, and a good friend committed suicide on January 5th. (Additionally I'm going through the breakup of an engagement in the middle of all of this, but I don't really want any break-up songs.) There's been a ton of change in my life lately, and I'm kinda grasping right now. I'll take any recommendations for music that explores death, or is vaguely related, or just has a similar vibe.
Edit: There are so many! From the bottom of my heart, thank you to everyone who commented. I want to make a playlist with all the suggestions and listen through them, so I may possibly comment in three months (or years) time saying I appreciated your suggestion. Truly, thank you.
Additionally, as long as it doesn't break the subs rules, I wanted to talk briefly about my friend. I knew that she dealt with depression, but I had no idea it was as severe as it was. After she died, I learned that she thought that the people around her were strong enough to handle the pain of her death, but she didn't think she could handle her pain any more. I honestly don't know what's more selfish, us wanting her to stay, or her wanting to go. I do know that her mother sobbing at her coffin side was the most heartbreaking thing I've ever heard, and she didn't have the best relationship with her mom/family.
If you are considering suicide, know that you will be sorely missed, beyond anything I previously was able to fathom. There's a dad-shaped hole and a friend-shaped hole in my heart that will never go away. Even if I don't know you, DM me and I will talk to you. <3
Immortals Fenyx Rising is a game that might actually be the definition of a 7.5. I am about 21 hours into the game just finishing the second zone and I feel confident I can talk about this game now having become pretty informed about the game and its systems.
For those who are unaware Immortals Fenyx Rising is an Ubisoft open world game that is styled after Breath of the Wild set in ancient Greece. Unlike Breath of the Wild though the game is more focused and video game like. Instead of climbing dozens of towers there are like 7. One for each area of the game. But instead of climbing the tower (statues in this case) and having the map fill with icons, you instead use your Eagle Sight (zoom in telescope function) to find points of interest and reveal them on your map.
Now that we have a baseline lets talk about the things you will be doing in the game. So like any Ubisoft game you will be going around the map doing points of interest. These come in a few forms. Chests, God Challenges, and Vaults. Chest are where most of your equipment and resources will come from. God Challenges are either puzzles, races, or shooting challenges that award Chiron Coins used to upgrade your abilities. Vaults are mini dungeons basically like BotW Shrines. They come in 2 types which are Arena and Trial. Arena Vaults are the more rare one and they are just fighting waves of enemies. Trial Vaults are more like puzzle dungeons where the goal is to get to the end by figuring out the core mechanic of the dungeon and solving a few puzzles using that mechanic.
Story wise the game is pretty simple. You are Fenyx who is shipwrecked on their way back from a battle. You wake up to discover that your whole crew and everyone on the island has been turned to stone by the king of monsters Typhon. With the help of the Greek gods who have been cursed by Typhon for failing to uphold their position as gods you need to free all the people turned to stone and defeat the king of monsters. Its pretty simple. Each area consists of doing the story for a single god and figuring out how to break their curse. The twist is that the whole game is being narrated by Prometheus and Zeus in a comedic fashion. There is a light hearted nature to the story because neither narrator is very reliable. Zeus is always cracking jokes and Prometheus is the straight man who wants to be free from his prison. Sometimes the comedy does land but for the most part the game has a pretty consistent tone and brevity to it t

BamBOO!

TL;DR: The traditional American work ethic, while admirable and (perhaps) good for the collective, can be unhealthy for the individual. Many of us would be better off if we embraced a degree of self-centered self-indulgence and devoted ourselves to self-actualization instead of productivity, paid work or โthe greater goodโ.
I often feel discomfort watching remarkably talented friends trade their mental and physical health to climb someone elseโs ladder. Many of them radiate an unmistakable din of desperation for a more tolerable life. The concern I feel for them motivated me to post this.
In the US, the ethos of 'meaningful hard work and achievement' is so deeply rooted that most of my peers never question it. Why is this? Why do people continue to work in unhealthy environments when they could stop working decades before they finally do so? Obvious contributing factors include low wages, lifestyle inflation, financial illiteracy, etc. However, I believe that there are additional, less acknowledged variables at play. Below I discuss a few potential contributing factors.
Until very recently humans had trouble obtaining the basics in life: shelter, food, safety, etc.. It was hard to get enough and nearly impossible to acquire a surplus sufficient for peace of mind. Those humans who continually strove for โextraโ were disproportionately likely to pass on their genes.
Today things are different. Itโs feasible for many workers in highly developed economies to obtain not only the necessary basics but also to have a sufficient surplus (e.g., an emergency fund) for unexpected developments. With this comes the question: at what point should people stop pursuing more? I see this phenomenon manifested in the many, many posts where people say โโCan I actually FIRE at this point? Should I work a few more years to build up a little bit of extra savings?โ
Further, many people have incomplete identities and few, if any, real passions in life. Therefore, they rely on paid work, artificial goals and milestones (e.g., degrees, promotions, titles, etc.) as a source of identity, meaning and reward. The fact that so many Americans derive their primary meaning and identity from work is, arguably, a reflection of deficiencies in their non-work lives. Perhaps If these same people had more non-work passions they would identify less with their jobs, work less and enjoy their lives more.
Many people have difficulty developing their own structure and donโt hav

He recently opened up to me about a fetish for anal sex he had (giving and receiving) and that was the only thing heโs ever really told me in terms of it. We tried anal twice with me on the receiving end, but he never wanted to try it again because he was embarrassed of his fetish and how into it he was. I told him I respected that but would love to help him explore his kinks if he was ever comfortable with it.
Then on Sunday, I wanted to do something special for him and I rented a movie for us to watch and ordered his favorite type of takeout, and I had even swiped his spare key the night before so I could be cute and genuinely surprise him (in hindsight not the best idea). I quietly walked inside and heard him in his room so I walked over. When I opened the door, he was sitting on his bed completely naked and was penetrating himself and moving up and down on a dildo, and was holding another one he was intently sucking on it. He was clearly very into it to the point where he didnโt notice me right away. However, when he saw me, he stopped dead in his tracks and had a look on his face of complete and utter terror, shame, and helplessness. He immediately covered himself with his blanket and threw the toys under it and started going โitโs not what you think I swear to god!!โ and started defending himself in hysterics before completely breaking down weeping.
I went over and hugged him and told him over and over that it was ok and that I wasnโt judging him and I loved him. He was completely incapable of having a conversation for bit, but he finally did calm down a bit and we watched our movie together and ate our dinner. However, he was still very mortified and ashamed and embarrassed to the point where he could hardly lift his head up and he was practically silent the rest of the night.
We were supposed to do something together yesterday but he briefly texted me and told me he was put on the schedule at the last second and had to work so he couldnโt make it, then tonight we had plans but he sent me something saying he wasnโt feeling well and couldnโt hang out (and both of these messages are the full extent of what heโs said to me since the other night despite me te

Tl;dr: I believe GameStop will be THE company that builds the bridge across the marketing chasm for both NFT marketplaces and blockchain. This will take NFTs mainstream and will make GameStop one of the biggest (both in market cap and market share) tech companies in the world. Gamers are the BRIDGE that will let GameStop quickly and effortlessly "cross the chasm". We are both the early adopters and the early majority. We are the ones who will teach the late majority the potential of NFT and push it toward ubiquity.

This is an update to an older post I made a couple months ago. This is all speculation and my opinions based on my experience in marketing and branding. Not financial advice and all that jazz.
By now, many of us have noticed the active push to discredit NFTs and dissuade the masses from exploring them. Journalists(?) throwing all kinds of shade at NFTs; words like "bubble", "speculative", "gullible techbros", and calls to some sort of authority figure in Keanu Reeves. Wait...this sounds just like GME...but I digress. Here are a handful of snippets of NFT hate:

People who have made that switch - how has it changed your life (finances, happiness, persistence to get a job) and do you have any regrets?
While we will have different experiences, I think it can be beneficial to learn from people who have succeeded and learn from you.
Thanks!
Edit: Thank you for sharing your experiences, I am deeply inspired and so glad I tried coding last year because I'm now motivated and to restart and learn again.
Nothing, he was gladiator.
Friends of r/fantasy, I am a good student. I get good grades in hard classes. My professors all love me, and some of them I keep correspondences with long after I have finished their classes. When I declared my major, my advisor introduced me to the department secretary as "my favorite student."
So when I say that this semester, while I didn't perform poorly, I did mediocrely enough that multiple professors asked me on multiple occasions this semester if I was doing okay personally, you should know just how much my obsession with The Wheel of Time dominated my life this semester.
This is, without a doubt, one of the best series I have read, to the point where I pretty much enjoyed nearly every minute of it. Even the things I liked less I didn't like that much less. My lowest ratings were 3 stars, and on reread they will likely go up to 4. In fact, the only thing that I disliked 100% completely was the main romance plotline of book 7, and that was more because of the author misunderstanding consent than quality.
This is my spoiler-free review for the series, where I am going to talk about why I liked it, why other people might not like it, and what you should think about before picking up this series.
Please note: If you don't like The Wheel of Time, I'd love to discuss that in the commentsโcivilly. I really like discussing disagreements with people where we go back and forth on our points without frustration on each other's opinions. That's my favorite kind of discussion.
Without a doubt, I think character is where The Wheel of Time truly leaves its mark. Rand al'Thor is definitely the single best character I have ever read in my life, and I am not sure that anyoneโother than maybe Fitz as I get more into the Realm of the Elderlingsโwill ever outpace him. This might surprise some people, because Rand is pretty fucking generic in book 1. But what you see in Rand is how a perfectly ordinary person with very little special about him might deal with the immense pressure that he faces, how he deals with multiple factions and powers clamoring to manipulate him and how he begins to crumble under trauma and madness, and how he deals with all of that while growing in power of all sorts. More than anything, I think Rand post-book 6 is the best portrayal of PTSD I have ever read, not just in fantasy, but all of literature.
But Rand is not the only good character. In fact, I think Robert Jordan is hands down the best character writer I have

I enlisted in the Marine Corps in 2009 at the age of 17. I was so motivated I went on independent study in High School to do my Senior Year in 3 months so I could ship earlier.
I did two infantry deployments and destroyed my body.
I used every cent of my GI bill to get a Bachelor's, Masters (MBA), and learn two trades.
I invested in Real Estate all through my twenties on the 2008 crash and recovery. All through my twenties I kept applying for jobs and kept getting rejected for "not having enough experience". Every job I try to apply for are entry-level wages with five years of experience.
Every day I have been battling with feelings of depression, failure, and like I did something wrong.
Some days I just want to sell everything I own and move to another country as I don't really think the US is the "land of the free" anymore. We are an oligarchy that is run by Boomers in Washington who control all the wealth. It doesn't matter what party you vote for as they all take care of each other. I just read that Nancy Pelosi's husband Paul Pelosi made a NINE-FIGURE profit in his capital fund. that is in the HUNDREDS of MILLIONS of dollars.
Inflation is most likely at 10% but the government doesn't want to report that, and it just seems at this point the US is a dying country with a national debt that will never get paid off, indebting us taxpayers for centuries to come. Don't worry though, Congress will start another war to "boost" the economy and make defense contractors billions. We have rampant homelessness and underfunded healthcare, but we'll spend billions on a new fighter jet we don't need.
I just don't know what to do anymore. I've been looking at South America, Ireland, UK, and Germany as places to potentially move to. I'm not a city person by any means, so I'll have to do some exploration.

This post details some of the things that were happening behind the scenes during Clintonโs administration & Obamaโs administration.
These details are from former chief of staff to Ted Kaufman, Jeff Connaughton(JC) in his book The payoff: Why Wall Street Always Wins. (Note JC is a Democrat, so that is why he was only part of White House during democratic presidencyโs. Also this book was written in 2012, ~10 years ago)
(Note2 I read on an iPhone so page numbers are different on here than a traditional book when citing)
JC also served as a special assistant to the counsel of the president during Clintonโs 1st term. In between chief of staff & special assistant he served time as a lobbyist.
These โfindingsโ will be limited to JCโS experiences. I decided to share because of the timeline of when they occur & I thought they were interesting pieces to our puzzle.
This post is lengthy, but should be quite easy to read. Honestly most of the work goes to the author because of how concise & easy to understand the writing is.

Bill In Review: Private Securities Litigation Reform Act of 1995
Excerpt about this bill:
โA corporate coalition - Wall Street banks and brokers, accountants, insurers, Silicon Valleyโwanted the bill, which would make it more difficult to prove securities fraud, passed intact. The billโs opponents felt it would shield securities fraud by these companies. Particularly troublesome to them were provisions regarding the statements companies make about future performance.โ (P171-172)
**Basically it is now harder to prove securities fraud as well as provides safety to companies for including forward looking statements & prospective information. (Hello Enron) **
JC account with this bill involved counseling Bill Clinton himself. Pushing the president that this bill is not good for the public, to which it seems the president agrees.
Here is the part that stands out to me
โIf the president has to think very hard before taking on this kind of fight, I thought to m

From controversial and disappointing affairs like Mighty No 9 to complete trainwrecks like Yogventures, many have had to learn the hard way how much of a gamble backing a project can be. Of course, there are also some projects so disastrous and poorly pitched that no one would likely support them to begin with. And in 2012, following the overnight sensation of titles like Double Fineโs Broken Age that brought video game crowdfunding to the mainstream, one company (or possibly one man) set out to create the most fraudulent campaign he could.
A Grand Dream
MYTHIC: The Story Of Gods And Men burst onto the scene in April, 2012. Created by Little Monster Productions, the company pitched a brand new RPG epic for PC and Mac platforms. Gamers could choose which storyline to follow based on their chosen fate (From Biblical figures like Lucifer to Greek gods like Zeus), and explore an open world across forest and mountains. Soon enough, they could fight the โTop Godsโ of other religions, conquering the world and enshrining their beliefs across Earth. The player could even choose their morality, and thus which deity to support.
But the campaign wouldnโt just deliver a game, even if the $80K asking price seemed a little low for such ambition. In fact, the money would mainly go to securing a motion capture animation team and music seeing as outside investors had already nearly funded the base concept. Even better, 5% of profits would go to undisclosed projects on Kickstarter that interested the team, and merchandise (or shall I say SWAG) from shirts to swords were soon to be rolled out for interested backers. On top of all this, the company was being run by ex-Activision/Blizzard employees! This is 2012 so donโt worry, that's supposed to be a good thing.
Really, the opening pitch alone set the bar high.
>Mythic is and action/strategy based RPG brought to you by the same team that left Activision / Blizzard in search of something better! I went to Giants Deep to explore after learning there was actually stuff on it and it triggered a really bad panic attack. I flew in and didnโt realize it was going to have two of the things Iโm most deathly afraid of, tornadoes and deep water.
Now, I know Iโm a big baby and youโre probably thinking โitโs just a gameโ but I canโt reason with myself, I tried and felt really panicky the whole time.
So my question is the title, is it mandatory to explore or can I skip it?

Iโm feeling much better (and even excited) to explore Giants Deep now knowing the things commenters have clarified on! Iโm really loving this game so far and Iโm so happy I picked it up on a whim, and the welcoming community is definitely a plus.
Update: Wanted to thank everyone again and say that I not only successfully did what I needed to do on Giants Deep but I was also able to explore and even play around a little with the tornadoes! It really wasnโt that bad in the end and I feel proud of overcoming my fears.
Prepared to get downvoted to hell for this--but realistically purchasing a puppy or even adopting an adult dog while your child is super young is a recipe for disaster unless you have prepared for all the options. I just had a neighbor's 18 month old child be bitten by their adopted rescue "nanny dog" because the child was toddling around and fell over near the dog, scaring it--despite the dog and child getting along really well for the past 4 months of the dog living in the home. They were supervising, but weren't able to catch the child before she fell, and while the bite was by all means minor and they aren't blaming the dog--their child is now terrified of all dogs and the adopted dog is having to live a very separate life from the kiddo and the family while they sort this all out.
Firstly, the first 2 years of your child's life is a melting pot of constant change, which is not easy for a dog to understand or react to. A child that was previously crawling learning to walk is very scary for even the most well rounded dogs--it's visually confusing and can also make the dog feel as if it cannot retreat in the same way that it could when the child was less mobile.
Secondly, children like to explore with their mouth first and then their hands--the number of dogs I have had through rescue that were bitten or hit by a baby and reacted poorly (resulting in them being surrendered) is more than it should be (ie. more than a one off occurrence). And while any interaction with animals should be closely monitored with young children, when you are sharing a home between a child and a dog there is always a chance that the two end up in a situation alone or you miss a cue that something is going to happen.
Thirdly, dogs can be dangerous for young kiddos. I love my dog and I trust her with kids now that I've had her for 3 years, but when I first got her (at 2 years old) she was full of unknowns and it isn't fair to set a dog potentially up to fail when there is a child in the home that can develop fear in either the dog or the child. A rescue dog can take 3 months or more to settle in a new home, 3 months for an infant or toddler is a huge amount of time for development and change of schedule -- potentially setting your dog back by months.
And don't get me started on puppies. Babies + puppies are adorable, but a nightmare...imagine baby is 7 months old when you bring 2 month old puppy. Things are great at first because they are largely separate and puppy is sma
... keep reading on reddit โกA bit of a emotional talk rather than talking about theory. I never thought I would end up studying maths. I started uni in summer last year and there I met Real Analysis, and boy... just proofing things in general, I feel like I'm so bad at it, or at least not as good as I should be.
The worst part is I could technically graduate while being bad at Real Analysis, but it feels wrong: how could I call myself a mathematician if I struggle with the area of math that embodies proofing and the showing the "truth" of a statement? How could I call myself a mathematician if I struggle so much with the rigorousness? Not a little, but a lot.
I love the rigorousness because it makes me feel stable. Imagine the great things humans have been able to do just because 1+1 is always equal to 2. It's not up to God's attitude today, if he wakes up with the left foot and says "Today, I wanna make it so 1+1=3. *poof* Done!" No. 1+1 always equals 2. Always. And it's because of this "always" that we've came to construct great, useful and still rigorous ideas over 1+1=2.
But me struggling to what is probably the essence of math, at least in my eyes, makes me feel dirty. For context, maybe I want to pursue a carrer in quantitative finance, which means learning stochastic calculus, which seems an awesome branch from the little I've seem so far, but requires also having a good ability to proof things.
Even if someone with more experience in the field tells me that not that much mastery in proofing is necessary, I still feel like a fraud if I never get satisfied with my ability to proof things.
Finally, I feel like, to cope with this situation, I'm starting to value the usefulness of math over its rigorousness.
Ok, maybe to spark discussion: in your stage in life now, do you feel satisfied with your ability to proof things? If you consider yourself not good at proofing rigorously stuff, does it bother you or it isn't important to you? I'm just a naive math student wanting to explore others' perspectives. Thanks for your time. :)

Elusive Target Arcade
Release: January 20
Elusive Target Arcade is a brand new game mode that takes the Elusive Target concept to the next level, mixes up the formula and introduces new challenges and unlockable rewards โ all whilst keeping the essence of what makes Elusive Targets exciting and interesting to play.
There are several significant chances to the mode here: Each Arcade Contract now tasks you with taking down consecutive Elusive Targets, one contract after the other. Each one must be completed to proceed to the next โ and there are additional complications added to the contract as well.

If you fail an Arcade Contract at any point, there will be a 12-hour lockout before you can retry the contract again from the start. This lockout enables us to keep the high-stakes gameplay that is a hallmark of Elusive Targets, whilst also giving players a clear indication of when they are able to play a particular Elusive Target again.
Crucially, Arcade Contracts are permanent additions to HITMAN 3. Once we add one to the game, they wonโt go away.
Our aims with this game mode are; to give players the chance to engage and play Elusive Target content more frequently, provide a new challenge for long-time players in the Elusive Target game mode, create a new type of recurring content that will reward players with desirable unlocks.

When HITMAN 3 โ Year 2 begins on January 20, the Arcade will also be open with a total of 3 Arcade Contracts, each one with Elusive Targets from a specific game in the World of Assassination trilogy. As you can see in the screenshot, the Ellipses Arcade Contract has three targets from HITMAN 3.
