A list of puns related to "Empath (album)"
I followed a link on his site to lasercd.com, but I could only find the (very expensive) deluxe edition there. HDtracks has it but I was hoping to avoid third-party sites if possible.
Hello gang,

People that claim to be empaths experience the following:
They have a lot of empathy
Closeness and intimacy can overwhelm them
They have good intuition/can read people well/feel what others are feeling
They take comfort in nature
They donβt do well in crowded places
They have a hard time not caring
People tell them their problems
They have a high sensitivity to sounds, smells, or sensations
They need time to recharge
They donβt like conflict
They often feel like they donβt fit in
They tend to isolate
They have a hard time setting boundaries
They see the world in a unique way
They sometimes find it tough to cope with sensory and emotional overload
You thinking what Iβm thinking?
People (I thought this myself), think they have this gift of being able to read people, when really weβve just trained ourselves this skill, out of necessity. We had to read peoples expressions, body language, we had to pick up on that tiny, sometimes almost non-existent change in tone or body language. We had to because our safety depended on it.
This was mostly just to vent.
Hey everyone,
I want to start making these threads for new albums but I wanted to start with Devin Townsend's album Empath today. There was a lot of discussion about Periphery's P4: Hail Stan since the band decided to release it early on Sunday. I'll post a link to some discussion about it but expect an official thread soon for that album as well.
I'll update this thread with some other info when I have more time.
Please discuss Devin Townsend's new album Empath below.

Album Reviews (thanks to u/GRVrush2112 for compiling):
If you've been following Devs progression on Instagram or Twitter for this album it's pretty clear this one is going to be a hit.
He doesnt seem to be following the same safe cookie cutter style of the previous DTP albums, as this album is now going to be released as a solo album, apart from the project. Dev wrote in an email he sent out for album updates:
"So by taking my own advice, the same advice I've imparted to the students, what I have ended up doing, as opposed to merely making another DTP record, (which is what I think many people would expect, and probably what makes sense from a business point of view), Iβve actually gone as far into my own process as I can to make an accurate representation of where I'm at. And as a result, the music is all over the place. One second its death metal, then it goes into this meditation thing, and then it goes to prog and then changes to a kind of twisted Disney musical. It's with the best sound quality I can do at this point, and I think the sheer glut of new ideas makes this one unique in my catalogue. I can't wait to get it all perfect so you can hear it =)"
He's picking up 3 different drummers for this album, including Morgan Agren who played drums on his prog metal masterpiece Deconstruction, hired the Elektras Womans Choir, went to Wales to record, went to Serbia to film a music video, among other things I'm sure I'm missing. Hes dumping a lot of money into this one.
As for the actual music, its unbelievable just from what snippets hes posted.
Just posted yesterday this 17 second Instagram teaser showcases incredibly massive slamming guitars, a drum rhythm that cant help but to bring out primal feelings in me, and dev doing vocals with an inflection I actually have never heard in his music before.
The next clip features Morgan Agren on drums doing a fairly groovy yet complex rhythm while there is plenty of strange electronics happening in the background. Devs electronics sounds began to get a little bit stale in the past 3 releases imo, but it seems like hes taken time this time around to craft sounds that are fresh and surprising.
This clip is probably my favorite out of the teasers he's shared. While it's more remni
... keep reading on reddit β‘Anyone have some recommendations for albums similar to Empath? Can be Devin Townsend or another artist. I haven't gotten that far into Devin's discography but I really like Empath.
I have seen many YouTube channels talking about how empaths are amazing people who can tell each others emotions. No shit Empathy is a trait nearly everyone has, some feel empathy more, some less, and some who are so narcissistic they believe its a skill only they have and turn any problem you have into a way to flex. A few years back i talked to a "Empath" about my problems and then they started telling me how many people they help and how everyone calls them an empath and there the ultimate problem solver, and I'm like bruh your not helping me. If someone actually has a high sense of empathy they would shut up about there accomplishments and not bring it up and just help.
Edit: Thank you for all the comments! even though i disagreed with some it helped me see things from a different perspective and learn more, i know feel like i understand things a bit better. This post sort of reflects my opinions now but i understand i got a lot of things wrong with it and the comments help me get a better view of things.
Edit 2: I am aware that empaths are not therapists, You can stop replying that on this post
Edit 3: Just feel the need to emphasise that this post does not represent my current opinions anymore. This stared from my real life experiences with self proclaimed empaths who acted like the ultimate problem solvers, and channels such as Psych2Go acting like empathy is a superpower and should be used to help people (i have other problems with the channel probs for another post)
Iβve been watching Deep Space 9 and Iβve noticed that Bajorans, especially the spiritual ones, and even by extension Sisko are all very intuitive. They seem to be hard to lie to, they sense bad situations before they happen, they are excellent judges of character and the most gifted ones can sense destiny such as Opaka.
A good example is when Odo is offered a seat on the Dominion Terok Nor council he thinks itβs a good idea but Kira knows itβs not. Without reason she senses accurately that it will go wrong. Is it possible that communing with the prophets through religion and or use of the orbs gives spiritual Bajorans the gift of intuition.
Side comment: who else wants a half Vulcan half Bajoran character?
EDIT: I was thinking about Kai Winn when I wrote this. She is the primary reason that I think only good, prophet loving bajorans develop this gift. Not snake oil saleswomen like Winn.
It is quite amazing when you find people who have almost the same fate. My friend, just like me was born an empath. And she is by far much sweeter than me. She has had the same struggles with her family. She is the last child like me. We have so much in common, it is mind blowing. Yesterday was a rather crappy day for me archons attack wise. Next thing you know she emailed me with bad news. As though it was archons feasting day.
She is not very awake spiritually to see that she is being targeted. In my recent years, I have come to realize that many empaths are under attack. While narcissists are given full freedom to destroy others and live comfy lives. I have no doubt that she too has been tortured and stopped from being the shining light she could have been. They like empaths loosh so much.
It cannot be a coincidence that we have been almost attacked the same way our whole lives. And that we have the same agent smiths type of family members. It is almost ridiculous how the archons lack originality. Many empaths are traumatized and they get broken in different ways.
In my family we were 3 decent people but constantly sabotaged by the 3 narcissists. They totally ruined our lives via the archons that operate through them. The warfare is very real. Some souls are marked.
I have found that the only way to piss them off a bit is to not react to their tortures. The goal is to corrupt us and our hearts.
There's something that gets thrown around here a lot: "it's T's choice to be here" or "she shouldn't be reading the things here if she can't handle it". And that kind of seems ridiculous to say. How many of us could actually be in her shoes and not check in on a sub that's 100% dedicated to you? Not me! I'd be obsessed. It would eat me alive!
Not to mention there's no way to avoid it for her. So often all the things we say about her here get posted on her videos as well. And if she just turned off her comments all the time, that'd be pretty lame.
Yes, so much of her content is a raging dumpster fire that we just can't look away from but sometimes we're feeding that fire furiously. And fires take lives sometimes; it's so easy for us to forget that this is another human being we are talking about.

This is an unofficial discussion for reactions to the album or whatever your little heart desires. this is for the sake of preserving discussion on as many albums as possible. If there's any releases for the week (or in general) that may be of interest missing from the schedule either PM me or leave a comment somewhere and I'll add it.
Your talking with a close friend or co-worker and slip up and say something you should not know. Their reactions range from the sudden freeze, stumbling on their words, and even blind fear. But you always get the WTF look. I worked with a woman on the ambulance for many years. I had brought up the subject of Empaths a few times over the years and always with the same " that's nice" response. She was taking college classes and had a particularly hard subject she feared she would fail. The day of the final was our regular shift day so I had a fill-in partner. We pulled into the station to find her fresh from finishing her test. As she approached the ambulance I looked at her and saw a big yellow number 72 above her head. When she came to my window with a big smile of relief on her face she said "I passed!" "Guess what my score was." I said, "72." She gave me the look! She was dumbfounded! I told her about the big yellow 72, and our relationship changed to a more distant and suspicious one. When people ask how I know things I shouldn't know I simply respond, " Oh I have a thing" and change the subject. But deep inside I love it when I get "the look." π
It's interesting reading the forums here. As an empathetic individual I am genuinely curious to understand are we that weak?
First and foremost I say to everyone, let us be secure and be true to ourselves. Let us not let society or people mold us the way they want us to be but try to genuinely be ourselves.
I am an empathetic individual. I give because I want to help or be generous. I help because I love.
We "give" because we believe in our traits of honesty, positivity, and empathy will pay dividends back to ourselves.
The golden rule is a good way I would sum up being an empath for myself - Treat others like how you would like to be treated.
I understand there are individuals who have gone through narcissistic abuse because empathetic individuals were blindsided that behaviors of narcissistic tendencies could exist. That abuse might have weakened the mind of the empath. You might find yourself as a pleaser with 0 boundaries or the insecurities set in you could possibly change you to a narcissist yourself. For you please find strength in yourself and overcome insecurities that the abuser set. Know that abuse is never okay in any shape or form and be able to find comfort being alone.
I also saw someone state that borderline personality disorder equals empath which is not the case. It is vulnerable narcissism.
I also read that empathy is weak. I completely disagree with this statement. It is hard to be empathetic and understanding. Some stop being empathetic as they got burned. An empath IMO is the strongest individual who has gone through trials and tribulations yet they are able to still empathize with others and give care.
For those people who may be narcissistic, I say to you love yourself more than anyone else in the world. Forgive yourself and don't give a flying F*** what other people think. Be happy with what you have and don't force aspirations on yourself. You are good just the way you are. I know it's harder said than done and you need to make that change.
I really hate being a hsp/empath (with OCD & Trauma which makes everything even worse) every single thing affects me im extremely sensitive, but I recently accepted the fact that I canβt get rid of being an empath. & I also feel like i will never stop caring about what people think about me and itβs mentally destroying me, the fear of what people will say is making me lose motivation for my goalsβ¦
Is there a way i can stop caring about what people think about me?
Devin made it his Twitter profile pic at some point recently. Looks awesome!
