A list of puns related to "Electronic Music Studios"
I have mostly been a long time metal/prog rock musician (guitar, bass, piano). One thing I love about the genre is the plethora of mini docs and docs of bands in the studio making and recording their music. I am just such a geek for it. I love watching the process.
Recently I have decided to dive into something completely new that I have never done before and give electronic music a go. I've always been a fan of house/progressive house/techno/trance etc. Does anyone have any suggestions for cool things to watch?
Hi,
Quick background: I used to make rock music, now I make electronic. However occasionally Iβll throw in bass guitar.
90% of the time I record DI, but I have a nice outboard rack with preβs, compressor, eq.
This normally does the job as I usually bandpass it pretty heavily. The bass is usually meant to blend with an electronic sub to give it an organic flavor.
However once in awhile though I actually want to hear the bass being a bass and DI doesnβt always cut it.
I have this crappy Ampeg BA115 leftover from my days playing in rock bands. When it happens where I want to get an amp sound Iβll use it, but its so noisy that I have to low pass out most of the highs anyway (basically above 2-3k) which makes it seem not worth recording.
Plus it takes up a lot of space.
I am wondering in this scenario if there is an amp that is worth using to mic up in the room, or if I should just continue to DI with my outboard rack?
This amp would need to be much quieter than my Ampeg, ideally a little smaller (but not a dealbreaker), organically warm sounding. Probably not high powered as I have neighbors and this would only be for studio application. Great mid tone, as I usually use a synth to fill the sub freq range.
If it is useful I have an american p bass, and a shure beta52a mic. Iβd rather swap the amp because of the noise rather than either one of these.
Anyway, if you know of an amp out there that fits this bill please share! Thanks
TL;DR looking for an amp that is:
I realized studio monitors in most cases cannot play sub frequencies. Does this mean I should get a subwoofer?
And if so, how would I connect it to my audio interface? My Scarlett 2i2 has a left and right output port. I don't know where the subwoofer would plug in.
Could you tell me why you are using it instead of another DAW such as, let's say, Ableton? What do you produce on it?
Just got into production a few months back and been using FL studio 12 that my cousin owns and also Studio One Artist that he got free with an interface but he stuck with FL. Now me, I really like Studio One, the workflow and everything. Now I am planning to get a full fledged DAW (electronic music : Future Bass, Melodic Dubstep, Chill step etc). I have been looking at my fav producers and almost all of them use ableton and it looks good to me too, workflow and everything. So now I'm left with the dilemma between gwtting the Live Standard (still slightly out of budget) or Studio One Rent-to-own on splice $17/month and save up for serum, sylenth, fab filter etc vsts. So the major question is are there a lot of things that Ableton does and studio one dosen't (or with less quality) that it would hold me back? I know stock presonus plugins aren't very good and Ableton's are great, but other than that are there any major features or way of doing things that set Ableton in a way above league for production?
Hey guys! I'm an electronic music producer and DJ based in India. This year has been super exciting for me and I'm glad to be able to do an AMA with you all!
As a producer Iβve had releases with labels like Universal, Sony, NCS etc, and I also co-own Music High Court, an electronic music label and tastemaker brand where weβve released/worked with artists like TroyBoi, ATLiens, K?D, Tisoki etc. Weβre also hosting our label showcase along with Run The Trap at ADE next week :)
Feel free to ask anything or nothing to do with music, my releases, my label or my pets too! I love gadgets, cars, video games, TV shows, and literally can't spend a single studio without my 4 legged partners-in-crime - Astro & Boogie! Ask Me Anything!
I'm interested to hear people's experiences of electronic music making on Studio One. I make house and recently downloaded the demo and it seems intuitive so am considering switching to it.
I use a lot of samples, loops as well as MIDI synth recording and I know not many people use Studio One for electronic music - so I would be interested to hear some more opinions on the software - critical or otherwise so I can assess the positives and negatives properly.
