A list of puns related to "Duchy of Savoy"
Political Overview
The Duchy of Savoy is an indepenent state ruled by the Duke Philibert II and his kin. Whilst Philibert is a young and stable king, his passive nature to the growing French power has made him a few enemies. He has realised that in order to maintain his rule and order, he must fight this new influence in the region. He currently has no children, but he is married to Margaret of Austria and may seek the help of his kin in fighting the wars to come.
Geographical Overview
It is rather unfortunate, that Savoy is stuck between a rock and a hard place. Savoy is to France's southern border with the Italian states and was passive, allowing France to come through and invade Italy. It is a mountainous and hilly region with a wamr climate, oweing to many orchards and vineyards.
Military Overview Boasting a strong military of trained soldiers and cavalry, the military of Savoy is not to be taken lightly. (Sorry, I really cannot find much on Savoy's military)
Diplomatic Overview
It is ruled by the Duke of Savoy, Philibert II and thus has ties to many other nobles of Europe. Namely Austria and France, especially as Philibert is married to Margaret of Austria.
My Intentions
I intend to maintain independence and to perhaps grow and expand, not only in influence but also land and army.
Hey all! Due to diminishing time (and other priorities at the moment), I just don't have the time to seriously pursue this game anymore. As a new player, i've very much enjoyed my tenure and I intend to return as soon as I can within my schedule.
Besides that, it is a little worrying on my end the level to which high-level players are able to control the game compared to new people - not in a physical sense, but even in terms of respect and negotiation. As Savoy, being cut out of the peace process after gambling your entire duchy with nothing to show for it is very tough to deal with, and i'm having a tough time deciding where Rene would really go from this point in my own mind.
That isn't to say, though, that i'm declaiming because of such an issue. As a game of politics, I understand success in EP is based on political acumen first and foremost. If you make a bad move, you have to live with it - and for this reason, it's quite likely that i'll reclaim Savoy if/when I come back and live through my consequences.
Thank you for this opportunity. Best of luck to the next season!
So in case you didn't know already Norton I was basicly a living meme and declared himself Emperor of the US in the 19th century.
Pretty much nobody took him seriously and nobody accepted his claim but the people of San Francisco loved the man, publishing his "decrees" and even following some of them. The "Imperial Norton Dollar" was widely accepted as currency and he became a huge tourist attraction. When he finally died thousands of people turned up to his funeral.
All this is why we can safely assume him to be some sort of pre-event hero-king of the Bayfolk ( At least to them ) and if we look at the fact that he is referenced as the first Emperor of California in the files and title history of the Celestial Empire we know that he is not only known to the Californians but that his (presumably far more controversial) claim to Imperial Dignity has been generally accepted by the people of the Empire.
If we now assume that he is not only a hero to the Bayfolk but also recognized by the Empire at large as Emperor we arrive at the logical conclusion that the people of San Francisco and the Bay would claim him as "their" Emperor and that the nobility and Kings of Grand Francisco would try to use him as proof that they not only could rule the Celestial Empire but SHOULD naturally do so as the Empire was "founded" by a man of the Bay who had wisely and rightly made San Francisco the first "Imperial Capital", using this to claim supremacy over the other warlords, the position of Guvernatus or maybe even the Mandate of Heaven itself.
The average Bayfolk peasant would probably view him as some sort of great mythical Guru (probably of the dove, especially if his "decree" about a League of Nations has been preserved or remembered) second only to The Lawgiver himself or, depending on the current political situation, as his equal or maybe even superior and "true founder" of California; likely being encouraged by the government.
>TL;DR:
>Norton good, Elton bad, thanks for coming to my TED Talk and I would like to join the Dev Team and help out with some of the lore, because this was really fucking fun to write.
His axe in hand, Manilius points the handle towards the defeated king. βAlright. I believe you promised me that you would join the war effort if I won,β the general begins. βWell? Was that just another bit of deception to trick me into coming here?β He looks around to the halberdiers with their lances pointed towards King Daniel. West Walbrzychβs king looks up for a moment before lowering his head. β... no. I did promise you that much. But if youβll forgive me, I canβt commit any troops right now. Right now Iβve got to gather the scattered divisions fighting in western Nicomedia and the ones here at home, in case King Hugh wishes to assert his authority over my little kingdom.β He looks up once more. βI have nothing else to say other than βsorry,β and it must mean so little. Itβs been through my own shortsightedness that West Walbrzych soldiers have suffered against the Empire and under the servitude of King Hugh.β
Manilius looks back into the snowy landscape and waves over Sari. βI believe you know her?β he comments. βC-Captain Sari?! What are you doing with the Imperials?β King Daniel asks. βI decided our little war with the Empire was stupid, what else can I say, your majesty? Besides, I kind of like the lad and lass running this company here. They treat me well.β The general stands up and lowers his weapon for a moment. βRemind me again how you know the king?β She scratches her chin. βIβm the seventh daughter of the Duke of Piroska. I had no shot at inheriting any land and, frankly, Iβm actually completely broke. I know the king because of my noble birth from some duchy, and a certain someone hasnβt allowed peasants to become officers.β The king looks away. βYou act like a band of people who have not been trained from childhood to lead armies of men can seriously hold up to the nobility, whose job it is to do that very thing.β Manilius leers at this. Sari taps her chin. βOh, thatβs awfully weird, then, Danny. I could have sworn you just lost to a peasant. This one right here!β she says while pointing towards the Nicomedian general, and her voice gets rather vicious. He doesnβt respond. βSpeaking of thatβ¦ hey, Manny?β she begins. βDonβt call me that,β Manilius responds softly. βWhat do you need?β Sari blinks a couple times. βTo go home. Iβm going back to Piroska Castle.β The general holsters his axe. βIs it south of here?β She nods. βHuh. Well, my company will need a place to rest before we head back to the Empire, and Iβd really not like to trouble th

Hi there, some of you might know that i am currently developing a cool micronation called Corollia. It is located in Antarctica, and, unfortunately, not many people live there. But citizenship does not require permanent residence , so i want you to ask if you want to be The Citizen of Corollia. If you want to, just let me know in the comments.
Regards,
Illia, The Duke of Corollia
So, I tried to take over the Duchy of Barcelona as the Kingdom of Aragon a few decades ago. And while I completely decimated their military, I only managed to conquer one province of theirs. While I do get a load of de Jure claims now, I can only pick on province at a time. This is frustrating, because I know my army can completely wipe out theirs in a swift stroke. Is their a way I can take all their land in 1 go?
May of 1955
A cause of some controversy, though an important premise on which the current Government draws it's support, in the days following Giueseppe Pella's election as Premier in 1953 it seemed the Christian Democrats would be unable to command a Parliamentary Majority, however, enter the National Monarchists a party which no one had expected to enter Government but due to their strong support in the South would become the ones to grant Pella the majority he so desired.
Though this was not all for free, in return for supporting the policies of Pella Monarchist Party Leader Alfredo Covelli demanded Christian Democratic support in passing a law to remove restrictions placed on Males of the House of Savoy prohibiting them from entry into Italy. Initially it seemed that this promise might have caused a splinter of the Christian Democratic party, as left-leaning members could not support such a move less than a decade after abolishing the Monarchy in the first place, eventually a compromise between Pella and leftist DC member Amintore Fanfani secured the integrity of the party solidifying Pella's position, at least for now.
As such it was that on the 4th of May 1955 the Italian Parliament in session were called to answer an important question: Should the Male Members of the House of Savoy be allowed return to Italy and offered Italian citizenship?
As one might expect the left was in uproar, both the Italian Communist and Socialist Parties mandates voted no unanimously, but also the Social Democratic party which is part of the Government coalition opted to reject the notion of allowing the Savoys a return to their homeland.
Ultimately the motion would prove itself succesful by a slight margin, as the Christian Democrats and National Monarchists who together carried 47.1% of Parliament mandates were joined by the Liberal party in addition to smaller regionalist parties and, controversially, a small number of neo-facist Social Movement mandates bringing parliamentary approval of the motion up to 53,3% and causing it to pass onto the Senate where due to the largely Christian-Democratic and Monarchist permanent members quickly approved of it following which the President of the Republic signed it into law.
In the days that followed the National Monarchist Party officially sent out an invitation to the
