A list of puns related to "Dovetail Joint (band)"
If someone has figured out a way, Iβd love to hear about it. The problem I have is that if I were cutting dovetails with my dovetail jig then I would have to turn one of the boards vertical to cut into the end grain. I canβt figure out how to do this using my Shapeoko. Thanks.
I have very little experience working with handtools, other than shaving some boards with my #5 Stanley plane. I am looking to get into dovetail joints and have a Veritas dovetail saw, compass, a marking wheel gauge and a marking knife. But something tells me that I need some training before jumping into dovetails.
Can you guys recommend any particular exercises I can do. I remember watching a Joshua Farnsworth video in which he was making his new students practice cutting on the line on all faces of the board. Are there any other exercises you can recommend?
I have some brand new bevel edge Narex chisels (not the fancy stuff) and a combination water stone (King 1k/6k). Having watched a bunch of sharpening videos, I can't seem to find any that describe in detail the process for preparing new chisels.
Along these lines, some advice on sharpening plane irons would also be useful.
Thanks for any advice.
Edit: Thanks for all the advice, which is very useful and timely. Also glad to see a lot of sense of humor in the comments.
I have been looking to start fine woodworking, and progress in my skills. So, I bought a dovetail marker, and have chisels, saws, etc. I have watched a few videos and talked to a friend who has done them.
But, I was wondering if anyone here had any tips for someone just starting joinery and dovetails.
