iirc the house is quite large with a main staircase a decent-sized garden. Over the episode, they renovate it, only to find those changes have been there in the past. They choose a wallpaper, and when they tear off the current wallpaper they find beneath it is the exact wallpaper they had chosen. They find a set of concrete steps to put into their yard, but when installing them they find those same steps under the earth of where they planned to put them (or something like that).
I don't remember much of the rest of the plot. I do remember the first murder takes place in the house's garden, probably at night. The murderer took a piece of wire to strangle someone from behind.
The climax of the episode takes place on the main set of stairs at night, as the murderer confronts someone who knows too much (or something like that) at the top of them. The detective then intervenes but I can't really remember how or what happens.
I'm 90% sure this was an episode of a mystery TV show, but a longer episode, probably 48+ minutes. I'm 99% sure this predates 2010, but it's probably even earlier than that.
Despite the mixed opinions of the movie, I see a lot of love for the ghosts of the Black Zodiac and people wishing we could have spent more time delving into their backstories, other than the DVD extras.
I think a 14-15 episode TV series with a monster-of-the-week format would work better than simply remaking the movie.
In your average episode, the patient would stay at the hospital for the week while House ran a barrage of tests from MRIs to spinal taps to what have you.
I have to assume every patient had comprehensive medical insurance because all of that couldn't be cheap, but what would the bill usually come up to by the end of the episode?
I think Benedict Cumberbatch would play a great Man in Black. Dreaming of the day the show actually happens.

So, I've been recently digging up some old childhood shows/movies that I watched with my father as a child (5,6 yrs. old) and most of them scared the shit of out of me, and of course intrigued me at the same time. It's really turned me into the Horror Junkie that I am today, but anyways...I just recently re-watched Evil Dead (the original) for the first time in 12 years thanks to a "Help Me Find This Movie" post I wrote, and now I am sorting out all of the things I remember watching, one of them being Tales From The Dark Side. I remember as a kid feeling pretty scared and freaked out and the show being "Twilight Zone-esq." Even the beginning narration would send chills up my spine. One particular episode that I remember really scaring me was, well, I can't recall the name, but I do know somewhat of what happened: Basically there was this doctor who kept his "daughter" locked up in a door in his closet or under the bed, but she was really this freaky-ass monster thing. Another notable one was (and I THINK this was from the show) this man who sold his soul to the devil. The episode itself didn't really freak me out, it was actually my dad. He looked at me and pointed to "the devil," who was a nicely dressed man in a suit with a red rose. He said, "Hey J***, do you know who that is?" I shook my head and he smirked. "That, that is the devil." Spooked me for weeks.
After reading all of this, does anyone else remember watching this show by chance?
