"These are my last 4 fights and I just want to finish on a high note"
Everyone has seen part 2 of this video that starts with Fabia already arguing with the UFC staff. It's the more obviously "juicy" video after all. And I hadn't seen the first one myself. Nor do I see it posted here. But I went back today to watch it, and I genuinely believe this is the more interesting video.
Diego says that he's learned who he is as a person, and not just as a fighter under Fabia. It seems like maybe an underlying identity crisis with the rapid approach of retirement may have played a significant role in Fabia worming his way into Diego's life. With his identity so wrapped up in fighting, and his career waning, he was very vulnerable to a charlatan like Fabia, but more than that Fabia was there as Diego sort of redefined himself as a person.
He was very confident he had 4 fights left, and that was that. He was set on retiring in 4 fights. Which is probably a good thing, and maybe one of the few good things Fabia has done for him. Whether directly convincing him to retire, or giving him something outside of fighting so he can retire. Unfortunately it seems that his identity outside of fighting is tied to Fabia.
He has some medical issues. He talked about how he had a surgery on his shoulder, he has "torn joints", and he needs (knee) surgery but cant take the time for it right now. So he's relying on "alternative medicine". He also got himself a stem cell sponsorship. He found a sponsor that is paying him in stem cell treatments rather than cash apparently. He planned on going after his fight. Since this video was for the Jake Matthews fight, it stands to reason he did get the treatment.
However, interestingly after the fighter meeting with Diego was closed and Fabia started going after the UFC staff there for the media coverage of him, Diego nods along when Olivi responds. I'm probably grasping at straws and forcing something to mean something when it doesn't because I like Diego, but it almost seems like he knows Fabia is wrong here.
Stephan Bonnar definitely seems to have been dragged in. Originally I thought Bonnar had come in because he saw Diego desperately needed a real coach, but the video doesn't make that seem true. Diego says he was training in Vegas at the PI with Fabia a lot, and that's where they met, and Bonnars team apparently meshed well with his, and now Bonnar stood in the room filming this mess. Also, F
... keep reading on reddit β‘That is an insane abuse of power from a coach. If that is common that is extremely concerning.

Hi all!
Super new to MMA (First card was Usman vs Burns)
Iβve seen the training videos, ive seen the hilarious press room call out, but what is the significance of what is happening to Diego Sanchez. Where did Joshua Fabia come from? When did this all start? How is it going to end?
Bonus Question: Darren Till? Is he well liked?
