A list of puns related to "Death Race (film)"
Here's the Letterboxd list of films leaving at the end of the month.
Earlier this year, u/happy_face_caller came up with the idea to start this Death Race Club in order to have a better, shared experience for those of us who try to watch the films that are leaving the service at the end of the month. This is meant to be a fun challenge and we'd like to help provide a bit of motivation for everyone participating.
What's on your watchlist for the month? Please feel free to share, recommend, and comment your thoughts on the list this month. I'll be updating this post and the Letterboxd list with more information about the films leaving this month as the day goes on.
These are the film from the TSPDT Top 1000 that are leaving:
#145 Duck Soup
#763 From the East
#768 Portrait of Jason
#917 Mildred Pierce
Happy death racing, everyone!
Here's a Letterboxd list I made of the films leaving at the end of the month.
Two months ago, u/floy_floy came up with the idea to start this Death Race Club in order to have a better, shared experience for those of us who try to watch the films that are leaving the service at the end of the month. This is meant to be a fun challenge and we'd like to help provide a bit of motivation for everyone participating.
And here's a Trakt list of films leaving at the end of the month that u/LorieJCall made for everyone.
Thanks to Lorie, we know that the following collections have films leaving this month:
We are only losing 41 films this month, but there's a lot of great content there. What's on your watchlist for the month?
Please feel free to share, recommend, and comment your thoughts on the list this month. I'll be updating this post with more information about the films leaving this month as the day goes on.
There are 10 films featured on the TSPDT Top 1000 list leaving this month, including:
There are also three Academy Award Best Picture Nominees (one of which was the winner) amongst the leaving films this month as well:
If you have any ideas on how to make the Death Race Club better, please feel free to comment suggestions or message u/floy_floy and I. We want to make this a good interactive experience for everyone here. I know we both really appreciate seeing everyone lists and hearing your thoughts on the films, so thank you for participating in this group.

In 1976, the game industry was still in its infancy, with consoles just starting to hit store shelves and rapid advancement in technology contributing to a industry wide boom by the end of the decade. The 70s in general was a time of great innovation for the latest digital medium, as the constantly expanding limitations of arcades and consoles would allow companies to experiment more than ever. Of course, that didnβt mean every experiment paid off. And some, like Exidy, would take this creative drive a little too far for the public to handle. Such was the case with one of the most controversial and violent games of this era: Death Race
Running Out Of Gas
Exidy, formed in 1973, immediately set its sights on the arcade market after its inception. While home consoles like the Magnavox Odyssey were starting to pioneer the gaming landscape at home, arcades were still the main source for digital entertainment available to most consumers. Exidy hoped to enter into the fray, immediately licensing and creating numerous games including Destruction Derby (where the player crashed their car into other vehicles), and several Pong-like clones. However, Exidy was far from the biggest company on the market, and they needed a killer app if the business wanted to make an impact. Such a game would arrive in 1976, whose reputation is so infamous it would be investigated by the government and appear on prime time networks.
This game, both simply and clearly titled, would be known as Death Race
Foot On The Peddle
Inspired by the film Death Race 2000, featuring Sylvester Stallone and a movie I have never seen yet whose synopsis had made it an instant must watch, Death Race was simply a modified version of Demolition Derby. While their first car game was successful, the fact that it was licensed out to other businesses led to the company receiving very little in profit. Still, it was clear the game was driving out kids to the arcades, and Exidy hoped to capitalize on this success with a non-licensed version of their premiere product. But that left the question, how was Exidy supposed to [differentiate themselves from other games on

I recall seeing it this on TV when I was a kid in the 80's and thought it was crazy. Basically a race through a medieval landscape where everyone can kill in order to get to the finish line. Lots of foggy/gloomy atmosphere. Lots of death/dismemberment. Really creepy (mid you , I was a kid) Etc...
Movie starts inside a castle where the participants are given a quick run-through of the rules. Everyone has weapons. One guy notices another guy has a bunch of knives strapped to his belt and comments, "hey buddy, nice hardware!" .. or something along those lines.
Race starts, everyone starts running.
Shortly thereafter, one of the first areas the main character passes through is a small village. All the doors and windows are shut. But he hears an odd banging sound that startles him. He looks up and it's a creepy old lady (likely blind or has extreme cataracts) banging her rug on her balcony dusting it out.
Throughout the film, there are various deaths. I think one member has a cross bow. One has knives. Etc ...
~
That's all I recall. I've tried searching for this film once every 5 years of so for the past two decades, but "medieval death race" does bring up much. I'll find it one of these days. ;) But yeah, some werid 80's movie. Maybe even made for tv. Who knows.
Any ideas?
Once again Cats and Kittens we come together to enjoy glorious organic deadlines by letting the channel curate our viewing month with their βwhatβs leavingβ tab.

I made a list of Films Leaving Criterion Channel September 31 2020 made by a Writer, Director, Editor or Cinematographer that is a Female Creator. If you are part of our death race club and want to inform your viewing goals hereβs a handy list.
Let me know if I made any mistakes or left anyone off, also let me know if you like the change I made to the format from last month.
I went by film order on the channel instead of grouping by role. I felt it might be easier to follow the way it looks on the channel.
Also, by grouping it this way you can really see how women directors use more women in the other production roles on their films.
Hope this is something people are interested in.
Happy Viewing!

We can concede that yeah, maybe the cop fucked up. But I dont think this is evidence of any cop being racist. I believe they saw a deranged man and maybe went excessive. Thats the only thing I can grant.
I'm sorry, all those cries of racism has no evidence that is convincing and supportive.
This goes beyond just this case. No, just because a black guy is arrested doesn't automatically make it racist. I'm not saying it isn't, Im saying if you claim it is, show me evidence this cops is a racist cop. What's his track record like?
Updated with full schedule
In early 2020, r/OscarsDeathRace are hosting a viewing marathon in the run up to the 92nd Academy Award Ceremony. This series aims to promote a discussion of this year's nominees and gives subscribers a chance to weigh in on what they've seen, what they liked, and who they think will win. This thread shows what we're going to be watching, and will link to the individual film discussion threads.
>For a full list of this year's nominations have a look here and for their availability check the megathread.
This year (partly as there's a reduction in time between the nominations and the ceremony), we're starting before the nominations are announced with a fortnight of films we think are very likely going to get nominated, and are widely available.
As usual, we'll try to schedule the films so that there's variety between different days - ie. there's not a bunch of documentaries, blockbusters, or international films all one after the other.
>If youβd like to track how many of the nominations youβve watched and your progress through the Oscars DeathRace, take a look at this Google sheet tracker with optional community progress tracking.
Threads will go live at 06:00 UTC daily.
I am not going to be able to watch them all this year, and am trying to decide if it is something I want to at least finish after the Oscars next Sunday. So I am wondering if you always make sure to watch all of the films, even if you don't do so in time?
Here we go diving into one of most film lovers favorite months; October (hooptober)!
The service has brought its usual eclectic mix of βWhatβs Leavingβ equally pertinent to the spooky tone of the month with 58 films exiting.

FYI We have a very casual and welcoming unofficial discord server aptly titled Criterion Viewing Parties where we do just that. (Link below.) Real life gets in the way for an on time release schedule, but the Oscar Death Race continues on with the deadline coming ever closer. Thanks to the IFC Center I was able to get all the Short Films taken care of this weekend. That plus watching The Cave / Judy / Corpus Christi / Maleficent 2, I'm only 3 films away from completing!
I also give shoutouts to everyone who have completed the Oscar Death Race! Great job ya'll. We wrap up the episode with my predictions for the Oscars, based on guild awards to date, with some notes on my preferred winners.
Finally this may have gotten lost in my ramble toward the end, but with next week being the last episode of this podcast, I'm starting to think about what podcast I'll do related to movies. Some ideas - a weekly Box Office Numbers review podcast, or a monthly 'Better Know a Director' podcast where I watch all/most of the films of a director (or in a franchise) to give my observations and takes on that director's styles, themes and motifs.
Anyway, best of luck with everyone who has yet to complete the Death Race! We're almost there!
Sorry for the delay in posting, I slept late trying to squeeze my last minute films in for our death race viewing, please forgive me.
This month 64 films are leaving the channel and weβre losing some great ones so please join us and post your viewing goals as we race to the end of the month before they leave.
It looks like some themes are:

Which One
I've been helping to manage this sub for a few years now and I've realised that we've had a similar format each year in terms of our megathreads, 'X Days of Film' Discussion series, etc. But we don't really have these compiled anywhere. And due to Reddit being horrific and managing legacy content, I figured I'd try make this thread to keep everything together in one place.
