Please help saving Jia Lin's life from the terrible hereditary SCID disease. He is one of us, he is human!

It so happens that among 200,000,000,000,000,000,000,000 stars there is only 7.8 billion of us on this tiny little planet that is not even a star. Which makes every human life to be beyond unique and precious. Below is an opportunity to stand up to that 200,000,000,000,000,000,000,000 number with what matters the most: one unique human life that you can help saving!

If you are not in a position to help out, that's ok! What I'd like to ask you is to just look at the gofundme and share a moment with Jia (my friend's nephew). I believe we all live in harmony: you sharing a moment will definitely contribute to the balance in this universe and will add a little more to the Jia's life force.

Thank you!

"My little nephew, Jia Lin, was born 7 pounds 4 ounces on April 9th of this year. The family nicknamed him “the little bull” because they wished to instill in him a strength that was sorely needed in a family that has suffered much in recent years. The little bull had an older brother that was born in 2018 but passed away barely two months later due to complications from the surgery that attempted to correct volvulus and a grandmother with breast cancer who is just recovering from a recent mastectomy earlier this year.

My little nephew suffers from a hereditary condition called SCID (Severe Combined Immunodeficiency) which means the baby’s immune system is not able to fight off infections. The condition is better known in pop culture films The Boy in the Plastic Bubble and the more recent Bubble Boy, both based on the story of real person David Vetter.

Being born in the 2nd tier Chinese city of Haikou without sufficient prescreening and routine testing, the baby’s condition was not discovered until August when symptoms of ear infections and pneumonia landed him in the emergency room. Right now he is struggling with a never-ending fever waiting for a life-saving stem cell transplant surgery that the local hospital has neither the equipment nor the expertise for. Thankfully the hospital was able to fly a specialist from Shanghai in with the minimum required equipment and found a matching donor for him (my nephew does not have any healthy siblings for a match). The surgery’s prep work is done an

Dropped my best ever dad joke & no one was around to hear it

For context I'm a Refuse Driver (Garbage man) & today I was on food waste. After I'd tipped I was checking the wagon for any defects when I spotted a lone pea balanced on the lifts.

I said "hey look, an escaPEA"

No one near me but it didn't half make me laugh for a good hour or so!

Edit: I can't believe how much this has blown up. Thank you everyone I've had a blast reading through the replies 😂

SERIOUS: This subreddit needs to understand what a "dad joke" really means.

I don't want to step on anybody's toes here, but the amount of non-dad jokes here in this subreddit really annoys me. First of all, dad jokes CAN be NSFW, it clearly says so in the sub rules. Secondly, it doesn't automatically make it a dad joke if it's from a conversation between you and your child. Most importantly, the jokes that your CHILDREN tell YOU are not dad jokes. The point of a dad joke is that it's so cheesy only a dad who's trying to be funny would make such a joke. That's it. They are stupid plays on words, lame puns and so on. There has to be a clever pun or wordplay for it to be considered a dad joke.

Again, to all the fellow dads, I apologise if I'm sounding too harsh. But I just needed to get it off my chest.

These aren't dad jokes...

Dad jokes are supposed to be jokes you can tell a kid and they will understand it and find it funny.

This sub is mostly just NSFW puns now.

If it needs a NSFW tag it's not a dad joke. There should just be a NSFW puns subreddit for that.

Edit* I'm not replying any longer and turning off notifications but to all those that say "no one cares", there sure are a lot of you arguing about it. Maybe I'm wrong but you people don't need to be rude about it. If you really don't care, don't comment.
