TIL HItler was fond of quoting Shakespeare throughout WWII. Hitler claimed to read a book a night and ranked Uncle Tom's Cabin, Don Quixote, Robinson Crusoe, and Gulliver's Travels as the greatest works of world literature.

We won at Robinson Crusoe for the first time!
Third attempt at the scenario 1 (2 players) and we finally survived the winter! Really fun game, one of the best co-ops Iβve played. Some thoughts:
-
The weather dice are hateful and want you to die. Theyβre magically drawn to your weakest point. Donβt have any weapons? Time for a beast attack. Lots of weapons? Time for a monsoon to destroy all your food. Spent all your wood building a roof to keep out the rain? Time for a snowstorm without any wood to burn to keep you warm.
-
You canβt afford to take safe actions very often. Unless itβs an action that absolutely has to succeed this turn, itβs likely better to do things risky. You can get screwed over, sure, but the normal action dice are much more forgiving than the weather dice bastards.
-
The pot is God. MVP invention for sure. Turns extra food into health, makes a ton of the tokens you get from exploring into useful stuff. You might be fooled into thinking fancy inventions like raft, moat, and map are the way to go, but no - the humble pot is the truth.
-
Build a roof ASAP or you will die of exposure. It does not seem like the most exciting thing to do during the summer when the weather is nice and there are so many fun places to explore, inventions to build, cursed temples to loot, beasts to hunt. But oh my god, you will regret your choices when the rain starts coming and you lose 4 food and 6 wood in a single night. Or more likely, you will not regret them for very long because you will be super dead.
-
You donβt have to hunt. There is almost never a penalty for ignoring the beast deck. Sometimes itβs worth it if you need pelts and/or food, but otherwise youβre better off preparing for the winter by building your shelter or useful inventions (pot!).
If youβre looking for a good, challenging 2 player (or more) co op game and you donβt mind occasionally being murdered by malevolent dice, Iβd highly recommend it!

1817 Armenian translation of Robinson Crusoe. Possibly the only (or one of a handful) in existence. At the time of this printing there had been only around 1,000 titles EVER printed in Armenian.

Why did Robinson Crusoe not try to leave the island earlier?
I am confused on this question. Crusoe has the abilities to built a boat and leave and he chose to stay- but why? Even after a scare with cannibals, he did not immediately flee. He stays on the island for 28 years. Does anyone have any theories as to why he chose to stay here on the island despite his loneliness and worries. I wanna hear your thoughts.

In Avengers Age of Ultron, Tony installs an AI named Friday into his suit, because Jarvis is gone. Outside of the Iron Man stories, the name 'Friday' has a long history as the name of a servant, starting with Robinson Crusoe, and also famously in the 1939 movie 'His Girl Friday'.

Reading Robinson Crusoe for the first time and wanted to start a discussion about survival.
I know it's a work of fiction, and I know it was written in early 1700, but I'm noticing some interesting errors in the story that I'd like to talk about. Anyone interested?

I thought you folks might enjoy seeing this here. This is the only 1817 Armenian translation (first edition) Robinson Crusoe that I believe is in existence. None have been seen at an auction dating back to 1900. Published on St. Lazarus at the Mekhitarist monastery.

I used 5mm foamcore for this project. I'm planing to do this for all my boardgames now.
My collection is still pretty small. Pretty new to this hobby.
Any feedback or Tipps on what I could improve on, is much appreciated.

[IIL] 'D Lime ft. Tabago Crusoe - Blow Wind Blow' from the movie Paddington. [WEWIL?]
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=d5nG6lflmPA
I stumbled upon this song while watching the movie Paddington, and I love everything about it. The sound of the trumpet, the soothing voice, the mellow vibe. I really would like to find music similar to it. I initially thought of Buena Vista Social Club, but most of their songs have a tempo that is quite a bit higher.
Curious if you have any other good suggestions, thanks in advance!
