A list of puns related to "Cord blood bank"
So my doctor mentioned it on my last apt and I seriously need some opinions. Is it worth it? How important is to do it? Why so expensive? Pros con? Help please π
I'm about to have my first child, who will be a carrier of my wife's beta thal minor trait. I'm also a beta thal minor/trait carrier.
We are wondering if we decide to bank our child's cord blood, could it be used to cure a future sibling if they end up with both traits and beta thal major condition?
If not, we may consider IVF to rule out a potential major carrier (if that's even an option).
Hi everyone, first time poster. Iβm T1D, expecting first kiddo soon. Partner and I are doing the birth plan and are considering cord blood banking- freezing amniotic stem cells - to offer an opportunity for future therapy should kiddoβs pancreas fail. Stem cell therapies seem to be little more than science fiction at the moment. Has anyone had experience with cord blood banking? What are this communityβs thoughts on the costs and benefits of stem cell preservation? Thanks in advance!
FTM here and my husband and I were reading one of our many baby books when we read about blood cord banking. We are kind of on the fence as to whether it will be worthwhile. My family is littered with autoimmune diseases so my first response is to try and give our baby ever advantage. But you don't know if they will need it and it sounds like you would need to use it within the first few years of their life.
Is anyone planning to do this? If so why? Or do you know anyone that has done blood cord banking and was able to take advantage of it to cure disease?
Hello! Iβm 5 months pregnant after IVF. Like many, I have to do a lot of additional testing because IVF pregnancy is considered high risk. Has anyone considered whether or not they would want to bank their placenta/ umbilical cord especially with IVF pregnancy?
Anyone here going for cord blood banking? If so, are you opting for a public bank vs storing through private bank? I have been reading that if you do private then it can't be used for the baby itself (small chance it may be used) but can be used for a biological sibling. Private seems pretty expensive too. Would love to hear more from those who are informed on this topic. Thank you!
Hello peeps!
Anyone here have experience with either one of those company for cord blood banking? I am due very soon and have yet to pick a company to go with. My OB wants me to go with a hybrid company (half private, half public), apparently itβs better as they have access to a bigger pool for research purposes. Also, better storage technologies?
Would love to hear your opinions!!
TIA!
