Why do many small piston singles have panel-mount engine controls?

Most small single engine piston aircraft (C152, C172, C182, Pipers, etc) have panel-mount controls for throttle, mixture and prop, which sit quite far forward compared to where it would be comfortable to rest one’s hand, such that a centre-console quadrant would appear to be much more comfortable.

Why don’t more small aircraft place controls in this apparently superior position?

RIP Control Panel - Microsoft is pushing Control Panel aside in the latest Windows 11 updates

Advanced network settings, uninstalling Windows Updates, and uninstalling programs will be moved out of Control Panel and you'll be forced to use the Settings app in Windows 11 for that functionality.

Source: Microsoft is pushing the Control Panel aside in its latest Windows 11 updates - The Verge

The article says that these are "welcome changes". Fuck that noise. Control Panel was fine. But leave it to Microsoft to fuck up a good thing. I'm tired of them fucking over admins and power users and trying to "simplify" Windows for the average user.

[Question] Code as it applies to industrial control panels in residential settings

Hey Sparkies πŸ‘‹ Home DIYer and hobbyist here with a very random question pertaining to electrical code.

I'm building a new house, and a couple of rooms will have more sophisticated controls (multiple dimming zones, low-voltage LEDs with multiple channels, individually-controlled outlets, etc.) Rather than doing a ton of home runs back to something like a Control4 panel, I'd like to keep the equipment closer to the rooms in something like a recessed equipment panel with a DIN rail. I'd like to terminate the room's outlets/lighting in that panel using traditional industrial DIN-mounted contact blocks, and then THHN to Leviton Omni-Bus dimmer modules (also DIN-mounted) or DIN-mounted DMX LED dimmer packs.

My questions are as follow:

  1. What code applies to something that looks closer to an industrial control cabinet in a residential setting?
  2. Industrial panels often intermix low-voltage (0-24V, for my purposes) and high-voltage (120V) – with appropriate separation for things like contactors, etc. Is this possible in my situation?
  3. I have to imagine that this overall concept is possible (as long as the equipment and panel are agency-rated), since things like Control4 lighting automation panels are basically the equivalent. Am I thinking about this the wrong way? If so, how would you achieve a similar effect?

I've got an electrical engineering background, and I'm reasonably familiar with NEC in the context of residential work – so hopefully you don't have to dumb things down too much for me. Thanks in advance for taking the time to reply! πŸ™

2017 Subaru Forester XT Randomly throwing error codes U0101 (lost communication with TCM), U0122 (lost communications with vehicle dynamics control module), U0155 (lost communication with instrument panel cluster control module), and U0100 (lost communication with ECM/PCM A).

Since August, my wife's car (about 97,000) will randomly light up all the warning lights and go into some sort of low-power "safe mode." These errors codes are all that come up. What's more, they clear themselves: the first time this happened, I drive it to Auto Zone to check the codes, and they cleared after I started the car to go back home. The same thing happened when we took it to the dealership: they were able to pull the codes, but they'd cleared themselves when they started the car again.

There doesn't seem to be any common denomiator. It's happened accelerating, it's happened at idle, and it's happened cruising. It's happened in summer, and it's happened in fall. It's happened twice within a couple hundred miles, and it's gone nearly a thousand without happening.

It's been to the dealership twice, this last time for over a month, and they can't replicate or diagnose the issue. They had a Subaru field engineer look at it, and they said it was likely a wiring or harness issue. Since then, they've said that the battery is bad, even though they tested it when they first got it and it tested OK. They replaced the battery, but they still couldn't get the trouble codes to come up after driving it for 60 miles. Consequently, they're saying that they have to give the car back to us.

How hard is something like this for a dealership to troubleshoot? I'd imagine it'd be pretty difficult for a shade tree mechanic to diagnose, but what about a fully-equipped shop? Does it make more sense to try to sell the car and get a new one at this point?

Can anyone help me decide on choosing these server control panels for VPS?(not a tech guy here)

I want some advice on hosting a WP blog(for movie reviews) and that I should go for cloud services like DigitalOcean, Vultr. The catch is that these are not Noob friendly. There are apparently software that helps you manage these things but I don't know which to choose. These are.

  1. Runcloud

  2. Serverpilot

  3. SpinupWP

  4. EasyEngine

  5. Ploi

Which should I choose? I almost chose a service-that-shall-not-be-named but learnt they're scammy according to this sub. So advice needed before I make further decisions.
