A list of puns related to "Community interpreting"
Hi Tarot Travellers,
I wanted to share this resource I found helpful during my journey with the cards in hopes it may help others too. The Biddy Tarot Podcast (link provided) really gave me some powerful insights. Listening about other readersβ experiences and techniques gave me that βa-ha!β moment I was looking for.
My favourite episodes that I found super helpful include interviews with Mary Greer (3), Benebell Wen (9), Robert Place (24), Kari Samuels (39), Barbara Moore (47), Sarah Wilder (115), Susan Wands (117) and Debra Silverman (127). Personally, I like to incorporate astrology, numerology, symbology and traditional techniques into my practice, so those were the episodes I was drawn to.
Hope this helps and happy binge-listening!
I'm looking at options for working in North Dakota in the next couple of years to be closer to family. It would be in the Devils Lake to Fargo, ND area (willing to commute about an hour to hour and a half daily).
Looks like the State Deaf School could be an option but I'm just not very familiar with the area or community. Any Agencies or areas I should keep a look out for? I'm RID NIC certified and have several years of experience, Bachelors degree in interpreting as well.
Flexible in the type of work: University, medical, state/government, fully freelance community work, etc.
The computer I am using for work does not have internet access or a usb port, so I had to draw how the results looked like.
I am working on a graph network problem with data (~8000 observations) in this format (this is not my real data, I just simulated some data to show the general structure) - here is the code used to simulate some fake data and draw a graph network: https://shrib.com/#Bowen2pBKK53
After the graph is created, if I run the following code :
COMP = components(graph)
table(COMP$membership)
I get something that looks like this: (1,50); (2,49); (4;44); (25,39); (16,33); (3;32)... (1239,6); (1615,6);(2536,6); ...(518,5); (519,5)
Based on these results, does it make sense to continue "community detection"? Or does the distribution look too sparse?
Furthermore, running the following code:
max(GC_CL$membership) returns a value of "1"
If I run the following code for Louvain Community Detection (when membership > 3000, a big number!): https://shrib.com/#Michael2Y5gOXl
I get an output that looks like this (my ms paint drawing) that looks like this: https://imgur.com/a/ewA2Qux
I know this is a very abstract question: for when the number of membership is > 3000, you can see the an output similar to the ms paint picture I drew. Is this indicative of a high degree of separation? Is this indicative of noise?
Could someone please provide some guidance? Or should I just ran Graph Query Language commands (e.g. create subgraphs, examine paths, connectivity, etc.)?
Thanks!

# Character persona

|:-|:-|
|Alignment|Chaotic Good|
|Personality Traits|In moments of rest he spends time writing the stories he hears from the people he meets in his journey or from his audience. As a common behavior he has a tendency to get extremely tired after mundane situations, even in case of basic social interactions (outside his "activities" as a bard). He has a displeasure and a fear of farewells and take his promises very seriously|
|Ideals and Goals|As a bard he believes his mission is to accumulate and pass on stories. Although legends, epic tales and ancient folklore are part of his repertoire, his true passion and affection are reserved for the simple stories of the individuals he meets on his journey. For him, these simple stories, laden with the emotion of their authors, are the ones worthy to be taken forward. His mission is to take the fantasy, the hope and the dreams of those who have lived ahead, to awaken the same sense of joy in those who decide to listen to such stories. To show the humble audiences of the whole world reality, fantasy and the Feelings of all who have left|
|Bonds and Flaws|His bond are family: those who walk beside them by the roadside, who feel the cold of the night and the warmt
... keep reading on reddit β‘Bozho. Like how the great pigeons of the city take flight to see the crumbs of the bread dampened by the soil, a truly great NI'ne by the name of u/bisma8 had the wisdom to point out that just as the coyote seeks it's prey that Dick seeks those of frail minds.
The peace-pipe can often impart thoughts onto those who breath it's fire, but let us not forget it was Chris the son of Kiwis that seeked out the community, and it was the Son of Kiwis that seeked out the attention. Any lung-tickles he may pass from that may be unintentional on his part, but to blame u/Dickmasterson, Man of Small face and Legs of Chicken, comes across as revisionist history, and my people know all about revisionist history.
Bozho.
Something I've noticed when watching broadcasts from Latin American countries (for instance, a press conference or children's show), is that it's not uncommon for there to be an interpreter in a separate (smaller) screen, positioned in the corner, interpreting the dialogue. It could just be me, but this technique seems rather less common for US broadcasts, which tend to learn toward using captions instead of a live person.
My theory is that, since education for the deaf in some less-developed countries can be lacking, illiteracy could an issue for some deaf folks (who still know sign), and so an interpreter might be more accessible to the community at large. I mean, I have absolutely no foundation for this theory, so I'm interested in anybody reading this is familiar with the translation practices in LA countries.
Iβm working on a mural for an elementary school. The theme is centered around multiculturalism and how we come together to build and strengthen our community. The main text in the mural says: βtogether we build our communityβ followed by the word βcommunityβ translated into multiple languages that are spoken by the students that attend the school. Google translate can be pretty unreliable at times, and I saw about 10 different interpretations for the word community! No idea which one is correct as I donβt speak Arabic. Given the context, can anyone share an interpretation that retains the most meaning?
Recently, I went down a rabbithole of the line-by-line analysis of a few popular BN tracks (Jesus Christ, Degausser, Okay I believe you) and found a LOT of errors, subjective statements, blank entries, and inconsistencies. Rap Genius acts more or less like wikipedia, where anyone can add analyses and up vote the analyses they agree with.
How would yβall feel about making a big community effort to go through the albums and giving them a touch up? Even if we disagree, I think itβd be a good thing to have some options.
I think about the 16 year old who finds a bootleg copy of Devil and God in his older sisterβs beat up Camry, goes to rap genius to see if Degausserβs lyric is βAlkalineβ or βInclineβ, and heβs looking at comments from 4+ years ago that give him a one-sided perspective of the music. Us Elder Emos, Mosh Veterans, Post-PostHardcores, and Stay 18 Forevers should do it for them.
I've become a zealot about parametric stats, specifically from the Bayesian paradigm. Something about studying the core business problem, choosing the best distribution(s), and making inferences has been really rewarding for me. But increasingly, I'm seeing tools like SHAP, which allegedly enable users of black-box ML models to intuit what/how their models "think". (SHAP is just one example.)
I'm not sure if these advancements are all hype or are actually useful for better understanding the what/why of one's problem/system.
I'd love to get some community opinions on interpretable AI/ML.
Hi, I'm moving to Seattle in the next couple of months. I'm a fully certified sign language interpreter and I'm trying to figure out what the community is like and if I'll be able to easily get a job. Is anyone out there in this field or knows someone who is so I can pick their brain a little? thanks! :)
