A list of puns related to "Commentary on Job"
Iβve been looking for a good commentary or devotional on the book of Job. Iβve always wanted to go more in depth but I donβt know where to start. Any suggestions?
I was wondering if there are any, as the title indicates, Orthodox commentaries on the book of Job? Thanks!
Looking to do some teaching out of Job in the near future and was looking to add a commentary or two to my studies. Any suggestions?
To preface, Players only does indeed suck because of the awful commentary. I either mute my tv or flat out don't watch if it is a players only broadcast. However, what I find more disrespectful is TNT's ability to just grab any NBA player and let them commentate. There are legitimate college graduates who have gone to school and gotten an education to learn the ins and outs of sports commentary who have built it into a career who would be infinitely better then any players only broadcaster. I get having coaches or players as color commentators. Shout out to Hubie Brown. But having someone with zero broadcasting experience who provides no insight into what is actually going on in the game and just shoots the shit for 2 and a half hours is a slap in the face to anyone who worked for their broadcasting profession. Also I am a programmer so I am not just salty lmao
Since his departure from Barstool heβs been a commentator for Friday Night Smackdown, the color commentator for NCAA Thursday night football, a guest and host for College Gameday, and a part time (almost full time) guest on Get Up. Seems like he made the right trajectory move...
I loved this series. I finished the finale today and had a browse through this sub, and wanted to add some thoughts...just for discussion's sake!
"SJWism"
Man, I was so sad to see all the fighting and commentary on this sub about this. Particularly because though I like to see progressive themes and values in movies/TV, I too cringe when it's ham-fisted and out of place but I thought by and large this show did an excellent job of avoiding that, for the most part. I love how the The Church of Night is in many ways a microcosm of a society that genuinely doesn't care about e.g. race (someone on the sub pointed out that Prudence calls Sabrina a half-breed and this is accepted although Prudence herself is presumably mixed-race: it's just not on their radar). The orgy of sorts is shocking to Sabrina but completely normal amongst the others - totally NBD. Consenting people and all that. (My criticism here is that they went a bit backwards on this when Lady Blackwood is horrified by Father Blackwood's affair and calls him a slut. I wish they would have been consistent and fully embraced how the coven completely rejects all "Christian" values. TBF there is a mention somewhere in the series that they "used to" practice polyamory.)
My absolute favourite bit of "integrated, subtle progressive values", for lack of a better term, is when Nana Ruth first meets Susie and calls her "young man". At that early point in the series, before we know about The Cunning, we assume that because of Nana Ruth's impaired vision she mistakes Susie for a boy because of her androgynous appearance. However, later we learn about her Cunning and so we know that she knew from the moment she met Susie that Susie is a boy. She later confirms this in the last episode where she again refers to her as a boy, despite having been corrected by Roz before. (By the way, the first time, Susie giggles and says it's OK). I think that's really powerful and understated. Susie is a boy. She's coming to terms with it, but Nana Ruth knows.
I also love that none of the witches in the coven see any reason to divide amongst gender lines or take issue with their leader being a man - it's this male leader (surprise!) who is, in fact, obsessed with having a son and then decides to straight up start a gender war at the end of the series. I genuinely guffawed at that.
I think if you find this stuff in the show "too much" you're basically saying you don't want to have to think about it or see it too

Seriously the guy makes Hamish and Darce sound like Bruce and Sandy in the mid 90's. He ruined the Olympics, he ruined a big moment for Essendon fans. How long before he ruins a flag win?
Why does he keep getting employed? Does he have photos of Stokes screwing a goat? Does he bribe people? Does he give great head? What the fuck is it?
Not since Rob Schneider has someone with so little achieved so much.
