A list of puns related to "Cleopatra Selene of Syria"
If she had been alive today she would totally been on name nerds haha.
Go Cleo, I love your melodramatic taste in names. They are actually pretty cute for a sib set tbh.
Would y'all ever name your twins Helios and Selene? Or is it a bit too extra?
It's historical fiction, a 'first century BC thriller' of sort. There's a bit of mysticism thrown in, but also a lot of attention to historical detail of the period in the background. Anyway, if it sounds interesting take a peek, it's called Lily of the Nile by Stephanie Dray.
I was reading about Cleopatra VII and looked theough her three children with Mark Antony to see if they had any children, and it seems only her daughter Cleopatra Selene had any children. Selene seemingly had 2 children, Ptolemy of Mauretania and Drusilla. Ptolemy himself had a daughter named Drusilla and I couldn't find anything of his sister having children. Drusilla (Ptolemy's daughter) had a son named Gaius Julius Alexio. Gaius' line seems to get really sketchy past here, but seemingly had children at some point since he apparently has descendants himself being Gaius Julius Bassianus and possibly a queen from Palmyra named Zenobia. How far exactly is it known for the Ptolemaic bloodline to have continued?

>Jenkins isnโt departing the project entirely. She will remain involved in a producing role as she pivots attention to her next two projects, โWonder Woman 3โ for Warner Bros. and โStar Wars: Rogue Squadronโ for Disney and Lucasfilm.
Yes, I get that they're in Africa but people are really acting that all of Africa was Black, like anyone living in Africa would suddenly be Black. Cleopatra was the final Pharoah of the Hellenistic/Greek Ptolomies. Hannibal was from Carthage, a colony, then nation of the Phoenecians, a semitic people living in modern Lebanon. St. Augustine lived in Modern Algeria, who had a Berber mother. None of the people groups, or the Culture they belonged to were Black or Subsaharan.
Were they Africans? Yes. Were they Black? Probably not. Why am I racist for knowing more? It just feels weird to claim a whole group of People as Black when their literal descendants are still in the same place.
Hey. Every year I have this tradition since a couple years to watch long, epic movies from old Hollywood the day after Christmas.
It started the year before Last with Cleopatra, that I absolutely adored, and continued with Gone with the wind.
Iโve seen many of classic old Hollywood movies but Iโm looking for a loooong, spectacular, big budget movie from the Golden age. Any recommendation welcome!

Iโm really enjoying the story and the outfits are really great, but whereโs the iconic Egyptian wing liner? ๐ญ it seems like such an oversight. Hereโs hoping thereโs spin offs with it

The title Returnal:
"In programming, return is a statement that instructs a program to leave the subroutine and go back to the return address" (computerhope.com).
Every time Selene dies she isn't going back in time or going forward, she is simply being returned to the Helios ship. She keeps permanent upgrades like the grappling hook as they are global variables.
Each sequence is referred to as a "cycle", which could easily just refer to a processing cycle in a computer.
The sentient mural in biome 1 refer to a large being, some sort of greater sentient that is hailed as the "master" of the creation/destruction cycle. This is a direct reference to the master/slave structure in computing, "Master/slave is a model of asymmetric communication or control where one device or process (the "master") controls one or more other devices or processes (the "slaves") and serves as their communication hub" (Wikipedia). Selene is in constant communication with the world around her whether she is conscious of it or not, which would be telling of a master/slave dynamic between Selene and the "Astronaut" (who may be representative of the computer interacting with Selene).
We see the Astronaut interact with Helios in a house sequence where Helios tries to tell the Astronaut a story, who surprisingly actually listens quite intently. The Astronaut seems capable of conscious thought and does not like Helios' story, leaving abruptly. This makes the Astronaut a sentient being in its own right that is independent from Selene, it is not just a metaphor. When we enter the kitchen we see the Astronaut is actually reading a book, one which is inferred to have been written by Selene who had it in her room which if you read it thoroughly makes reference to later house sequences (talks about the television sprouting tentacles for example.) The Astronaut is a representation of the computer, who is reading Selene's mind and using her thoughts to torture her for an unknown purpose; machine learning. The computer is not malicious or sympathetic, it is instead fulfilling a process for which it was created, that is why the Astronaut appears so neutral and enigmatic as it doesn't truly feel Selene's emotions and pain.
The computer is the Creator/Destroyer that the sentients talk about on the markings before you enter Phrike's boss chamber, that "makes nightmares real"; it can be assumed thi
... keep reading on reddit โกIโm sorry this has probably been asked before! But since thereโs no subreddit for those lol did anyone else used to watch these?
I recently got both shows for cheap and started watching them. I used to think cleopatra was way too corny even as a kid. Itโs like everything people didnโt like about Xena turned up to 1000. And Jack was just meh.
After rewatching Jack of all trades itโs really good! Killer theme song and great humor. Kinda sad I didnโt watch it more when it aired. Cleopatra also has a great theme! Iโve started watching it and itโsโฆ not great yet but Iโve only seen a few EPs so far.
"Selene, Selene, Selene, Seleeeene, I'm begging of you, please don't take my man.
Selene, Selene, Selene, Seleeeene, Please don't take him even when he's Rand.
Your beauty is beyond compare, With midnight locks of raven hair, and ivory skin, and eyes of black tourmaline.
Your smile could cast frost in spring, Your Weaves bring torrents of great pain, and I cannot compete with you, Selene.
Choose another ta'veren, For I could never love again, He's the only one for me, Selene.
He travels with you in his sleep, And there's nothing I can do to keep From dying, when he calls your name, Selene." - Ilyena, probably
