A list of puns related to "Citizens band radio"
My kids have a walkie-talkie purchased in Australia, which uses UHF CB. From what I could find out, this is a class-licensed citizen's band radio service authorised by the governments of Australia and New Zealand in the UHF 477 MHz band, with 77 channels. Are these frequencies / radios allowed for recreational use in Canada?
Hello folks!
I'm a developer from Italy, passionate about cb radios. I used to have one at home, when i was a little guy in the 90s. In the last months i've been working on a project to replicate the good old feeling of speaking with strangers through the radio medium.
It still needs a lot of work but a prototype is available for public testing. The algorithm just gives an 8/10 to everyone but in the future i would like to take in account distance between clients to shape the signal strength, also there will be modules, antennas and things you can mount on your radios. For the moment the only module is the roger beep (which is installed by default).

It would be great to have some traffic on the server and some testers from all around the world. So, if you feel like giving it a try, well you're welcome! Keep in mind the application is still in alpha stage so you might experience crashes and things like that (i hope not but this is why i need testers).
Feel free to contact me directly to report bugs or missing features you would like to see implemented.
Be sure to check the "Getting started" where you can find everything you need to know to install and use TCB!
Things planned for the near future:
- Customizable roger beep. More than one roger beep sound will be made available, also you'll be able to record/make your own as long as its sampled in 8khz mono
- Talk back module. To hear yourself while transmitting
- Dedicated server files for community hosting
EDIT: 14/1/2021 - Thanks to a couple of folks that tried the application in the evening. I discovered a bug in the packet fragmentation that occurs from time to time when the network lags, making the receiving client(s) crash. I'm working on it and will be hopefully solved in the next 0.51 release.
EDIT: 15/1/2021 - Version 0.51 hotfix has been released and available for download.
P.S. When i'm online you can find me on channel 1 :-)
EDIT: 19/6/2021 - This has finally became a web application! 100% online, no downloads, no plugins! Have a look :-)
To top it off, it's not so long since the last time they did this, so the equipment that got banned in this round is generally fairly new.

I definitely saw a CB radio store while driving around for work. For the life of me I canβt remember where.
Anyone know?
Would it be possible to transmit packet data on the 11 m band using a simple, cheap transciever (with only FM and AM modes) and a computer running TNC software?
CB radio is a craze that has passed. It peaked about 1978 or so, about the time that the old analog cell phones were introduced (you know, the old white cell phones about the size of a brick, with a rubber ducky antenna out the top.) Over-the-road truck drivers still use CB radio though, and some car convoys (like several people travelling together.) Anybody ever try to contact drivers using a CB to get a ride?
I have used a scanner to listen to train radio traffic often. Buy a good 200-channel scanner, program in all the 97 railroad radio channels and set it on "scan." Anybody transmitting on any of the 97 railroad channels will hit your scanner, including conductors, engineers, switchmen, railroad special agents and dispatchers. Some railroad radio traffic is encrypted now, but most is just broadcast openly.
My band was played on the radio for the first time and I'm ecstatic! We were on DKFM "The Shoegaze Collective" and I couldn't be happier! A huge life goal for me accomplished. It only makes it better that none of us even went to them - they approached us and let us know they were going to play one of our songs! It was so surreal to hear a song that we recorded and mixed in a bedroom on GarageBand play on the fucking radio!
iβm playing fortnite rn, im not sure what radio station was on the car. I was driving around and death dance approximately was playing !
My kids have a two-way walkie-talkie purchased in Australia, which uses UHF CB.
