A list of puns related to "Children of God (film)"
I'd have it as an huge departure from the style before. Proper cheesy 70s style Sci fi. Like Logan's Run or Zardoz.
The citizens would be semi naked idiots with shorts and plastic helmets.
Even the trip to the desert with Duncan and Siona climbing the wall... I can see the hot desert shot with long lens cameras. Almost Enniov Moriccone music playing as Duncan climbs the wall.
Crash zoom on Nayla when she has her moment.
The best thing though, would be the absolutely perfect CGI for Leto.
As cheesy as everything else looked, Leto would be done with a massive budget.
I would force a motion capture actor to live in a giant worm suit for six months. I don't care.
I honestly think Jodorowski's ideas would work with my version of God Emperor.
What else do we need?
I just watched Children of a Lesser God, starring William Hurt and Marlee Matlin. It was cool to see Deaf characters played by Deaf actors, but I found it frustrating that a lot of the signing was obscured by the way the shots were framed.
My question is: How does the Deaf Community feel about this movie? Do Deaf people like it? Hate it? Don't care?
Thank you!

The Sparrow is one of my favourite books, and I'm just finishing up my 3rd or 4th re-read. I've never read the sequel, but I have a vague worry that it will "ruin" The Sparrow if it doesn't live up to it. (Does anyone else get that by the way? Like when you don't want to watch the film version of a book you love in case it taints it.)
Anyway, I just wanted to know if you guys thought it was worth it. Thanks!

I watched this Short a few years ago. I think I saw it anywhere from 5 to 8 years ago. It's 2D animation. There is no dialogue. I'm having a hard time finding it because there are so many Shorts about death in some way.
It starts with 3 kinds of death gods taking their children to school. There is the Grim Reaper coming from Europe, but he has a mustache cause he is a dad. He has a daughter who looks like a mini Grim Reaper but she has a little pink bow. She is the main character. There is the Egyptian god of death (Anubis?). His son is kinda buff. And then from China we have Ying and Yang and their twins. They all go to this school being taught by some larger entity of death/death god(?) I think. I don't know who he is supposed to be.
The classes go where the Teacher gives the students an assignment and we see each student using their own way to solve it. He has them try to take the soul of a bunny. The Ying and Yang twins chase the bunny around with this red ribbon. Kid Anubis puts the bunny on a scale with a feather on one side. He gets flustered when the feather weighs more than the bunny's soul so he brute forces the scales to tip so he can complete the assignment. When we look at Little Miss Reaper we see that she isnt paying attention to the assinment and is knitting something with pink yarn. She realizes afterwards that she is not doing what she is supposed to. The parents are in the room while all this is happening and Papa Grim is really embarrassed.
Then Professor Death takes everyone to a hospital. We see a hospital bed and the soul of a young girl rises up from it. We see for a moment that she seems surprised by what is happening and everyone in her room and that she is uncomfortable with being a bare soul. The assignment for the Death Children seems to be to take charge of this soul. The Ying and Yang twins jump all around the walls and chase her around the room with their ribbons but she runs away from them. Kid Anubis tries to catch her with his strength but she evades him too. We then see Little Miss Reaper get and idea and start furiously knitting. Papa Grim is again embarassed that his daughter seems like she is going to fail again cause she is knitting. The soul of the dead girl zooms past Little Miss Reaper and she quickly holds out what she was knitting so the girl flies into it as she passes. The girl looks down and see that she now has on a pink T-shirt. She looks much happier now that she isnt bare any more. Little Miss Reaper

For me, that would be "The Florida Project" (2017). For me, it was one of those few movies where I fell the closest thing to falling in love. I pretty much love everything about film. The beautiful use of colors, how beautiful shot it is, its honesty, its comedy and charm, its fun but very flawed characters and every each of these small moments of the characters just doing their own things. And I really love the sort of randomness that there is to the film as it serves making the experience more genuine and unique. It's a film where I feel attached to these lives and which I can find somewhere in my reality. It is a film that both shows the highlights of childhood but also the poverty existing under it and that will at times intervene with those good aspects of being a child.
It's a film with a lot of heart and that makes me want to share my heart with it. I love this movie and it will always belong in a very special place in me.
It's not just my favorite film of this specific kind but one of my personal favorites ever.
Iβve been in therapy for the past 3 years and feel like sharing my story on a more anonymous social media platform. I grew up in a Christian church and was molested by multiple men within the church. I had a lot of fear instilled in me that prevented me from telling anyone until years later. Also my father wasnβt in my life because he was involved with a lot of criminal/illegal activity and my mom didnβt allow me around him for years until he got himself together. I was put into this weird mentorship program where older men try and βguideβ young boys without fathers on how to be men. You can imagine what kind of dudes that appeals to. Anyway my family was incredibly active in the church. We would be there 2-3 times a week every week without fail for all the activities and classes and what not. All while experiencing this trauma that I was too afraid to talk about there was a constant reminder that this all powerful creator was responsible for everything. God was in control of the whole universe and he βhas a plan for each and every one of usβ. This rhetoric is spewed so constantly and consistently and it always goes unquestioned. When you do question gods βperfectβ will. Youβre either met with βyour faith isnβt strong enough you need to repentβ or the classic βwe canβt begin to understand how gods plans work and how awesome god is and how god uses horrible situations for a good reason. β When your being molested and youβve had ideals of god ingrained so deeply in you that youβre unable to question whether he exists or not. You also arenβt able to question the rest of what youβre being taught either.
I spent my entire life from an early age without a father and my entire childhood in fear of what fucking monster was hiding behind a smile waiting to pick me up. There was no reason for what happened to me. There was absolutely nothing positive that I gained from it. I have diagnosed C-PTSD , trauma induced psychosis, and panic attack disorder. I had a crippling drug addiction all through my teens and early adulthood. I attempted suicide and have been institutionalized 3 times. I donβt know why I need to iterate that there was no fucking benefit from this in any way, yet some people still think gods dictations have a purpose .
Iβve put so so so much work into myself just to be a regular person. I gained nothing from any of this other than heinous shame, pain and (thanks to the ideology)an inferiority complex. I wouldβve been far, far better off without

But yet he apparently has all the time in the world to help some American Christian find his/her keys or a pen or something.
I never get a straight answer from Christians when I ask this.
I hadn't watched the film since it came out in theatres. I remember leaving and feeling so pleased with it, with how amazing it was. Not just the story but the storytelling is top-notch. The speed, the visuals, the dimensions and motivations of the characters.
Watching the movie you feel like you're a part of the group, the way that shots are all so close it's like you're in the room with everyone.
I really like dystopian kind of movies and shows (3% anyone?) but I feel like it's so hard to find one that is ACTUALLY good. SO many are "teen dystopian films" where the "bad guys" are flat with flat motivations.
I can't recall any other movie I enjoy quite as much as Children of Men. It's just a perfect film. If I'm wrong, please introduce me to some new ones :)
Edit: thanks everyone! Sorry I wasnβt able to respond to everyone, work got busy then I was sleeping. I have some wonderful recommendations Iβm excited to watch, I will update with my thoughts :)
Edit: Ok, for one thing I have dedicated myself in the ways that I can to helping these causes that are close to my heart. I never said people shouldn't be allowed to enjoy a football game. I think that people who think God answers their petty selfish daily prayers and justify global suffering because "it is part of HIS plan" is a horrible display of cognitive dissonance that keep many people from doing as much good as they can do in the world, relying on a God who isn't helping. I didn't post this for karma, you can look through my profile and see that I really could care less about internet points, I was just pissed off last night seeing the usual suspects in FB saying the usual ignorant nonsense. I wasn't blaming christians for famine. Sheesh. If I had known how many people would get pissy over this and message me, I wouldn't have bothered since I find trying to change minds to be a fruitless effort.
