You'll just be used as a pawn for US business interests (mainly defense contractors), and as the recent election shows there's little stopping your CIC from being someone who is not fit to lead.

Does anyone else think being in the military when you have young children is irresponsible and inconsiderate?
Granted, I am sort of anti-war to begin with. And of course, being on this sub, I'm against having kids in any circumstance. But it especially annoys me when I see those posts of dads coming home from war and seeing their little kids and being extolled as great fathers and noble, virtuous people. Going to war when you have kids is extremely reckless in my opinion, in the same way that doing drugs with a high addiction potential or risk of fatality is. You're putting your life at stake, knowing your kids would be devastated and traumatized if you died. It's just fucked up to me, idk how anyone could do that.

People in the military who are married (and/or have children) should NOT be paid more than people who are single or don't have kids.
Currently: your basic housing allowance (BAH) increases when:
- you're married
- you have kids
This creates a system in which you're paying people different rates for the same role.
This would never fly in the private sector.
I imagine that only reason it's not something that people more actively speak out against is no one could reasonably raise a family on most military wages. That's the real issue. That should be remedied, and pay scales flattened.

From a males perspective pre-rights women had it made outside of a few inconveniences. They never had to work, pay bills, involuntarily serve in the military and were always taken care of. The only responsibilities they had were to clean the house and take care of the children.
