This isn't really a particularly serious theory and it may not have been the writers' intention, but I feel like all of the main Reds and Blues, mainly during the Blood Gulch chronicles, were meant to loosely represent a certain type of Halo player.
Sarge represents the overly militant players who take everything seriously and bark commands at their teammates despite not really knowing what they're doing.
Simmons represents the 'nerd' types, I.E people who know the campaign lore in-and-out and such.
Grif represents the lazy players who let their teammates carry them and just mess around for the whole match
I'm not sure about Donut, I think in Season 1 he was just meant to be a representation of all the new players in the game who get looked down on by teammates, and after that he sort of became his own thing I guess.
Church represents the asshole players who constantly get mad at other players for no justified reason.
-Tucker represents the stereotypical arrogant 'dudebro' gamer who annoys everyone over the mic and sends every female player inappropriate messages after the match.
Caboose represents the players who just have no clue what they're doing, the kind of person who runs around the map aimlessly firing the AR and screaming nonsense into the mic.
Tex possibly represents the genuinely good pro-level players who intimidate everyone in the match and kick everyone's ass.
-Sister is a very stereotypical 'wannabe gamer girl', an idiot who chats up other players, cannot play to save their life and is actually happy to recieve the inappropriate messages from dudebro players.
Once again, this is just a dumb weird theory I've been thinking about for a bit now. If I left out any characters I probably either forgot them or couldn't really categorize them.
What is the weakest character that could prevent the destruction of the planet Reach? Your character replaces Noble 6 at the start of the game, and has access to anything the UNSC can realistically grant them and any equipment they would normally have.
Victory occurs if Reach isn't destroyed by the Covenant.
It says like the name of a character (maybe). I know that's not much to go off of but it was a pretty good song
I know the purple halos denote player characters in multiplayer but for some reason, some of the dead characters in my single player game have purple halos around their portraits. I've been trying to figure out what, if anything, the purple halo dead chars have in common...
It doesn't seem to be correlated to their status (there are other dead characters of higher rank that do not have the purple portraits and I've seen some untitled dead characters with the halos). I even created a character with identical attributes to one of the purple halo characters and killed him to see if he would get a purple halo too... he did not get one.
All the examples below are from the same family, but I've seen them in other families too (just can't find any examples at the moment) from different cultures, religions, and parts of the world.
I have all the portrait packs and several misc DLCs. The only mod I'm running is I'm running better garbs. If anyone thinks a specific DLC might be causing this I can go to steam and list them all but I'd rather not if I don't have to. I also love using console commands, but mostly just use them to keep my favourite characters alive forever and I don't know how that would have any effect on the portraits of characters I made no effort to keep alive and never played.
Has anyone else encountered this? Does the purple halo have any particular meaning or does it strike randomly???
cause of death: burnt at the stake
First of all I'll say i liked the main story games. But I can't say they piqued my interest or were handled particularly well.
In practice I've found the best Halo stories have all revolved around content that isn't really relevant to the mainline games or the master Chief.
My favourite Halo stories have included the ones involving Onyx, Contact, Preston Cole, Gray Team, Rion Forge, and kilo-five.
I love when they reference John, Cortana, the arbitter or big events, but the small scale/universe building stories have been so much more gripping and have more room for creativity. There's way more tension and emotion when you don't know if the characters will make it. I've always loved the gritty, war tales that come out of Halo and the different perspectives of civilians vs soldiers vs covenant. If Halo Reach was never released i might not have even ever bothered trying to learn more and Halo would have remained as a video game instead of one of my favourite sci-fi universes.
Anyway, just wanted to see what everyone else thought? I feel there's a few people who only care about Chief and Cortana, but after 5 and the supposed death of the Didact i really lost interest in the future of Halo's main story.
I don't like how the Rookie went out. I always found it jarring in its execution of the scene. I am actually 100% fine with the Rookie dying though. I think he's an empty vessel of a character and a useful plot device to push characters who are actually charactered forward in the narrative of New Blood.
All that aside, I want more characters to die. A massive problem in the Post War Universe of Halo is the Spartans feel absolutely bulletproof. I have no doubt every member of Blue Team survives every mission, why? Because they're invncible. I feel that way about a lot more Spartan III's and IV's as well.
343 as a company has shown (overall) they love adding characters, particularly Spartans. It is also clear they are incredibly gun shy about any of these characters dying. You can't always give the audience what they want. You can't keep creating an infinite amount of Spartans because it will continue to lose its value or have diminishing returns in terms of enjoyment. Gone are the days of losing Spartan II's, they're too fan valuable.
I think death is a necessary tool that is severely lacking in the post-war universe. The result of a lack of death in these plot armored characters is a lack of tension, a lack of excitement. They've made Spartans and by extension humanity too much a superpower in the Post War Universe that as long as they get there they will win. It really shouldn't be. The Post War Universe should be more like the Wild West.
The Rookie's death reinforces to me that war sucks, sometimes even skilled soldiers lose and that the Halo universe is still a dangerous place.
I actually love 343 Halo overall. I think they've done really great things with the canon. I just also think they're completely gun shy about killing Spartans.

βShe isn't a Muslim but wears a hijab. She also isn't comfortable showing her hair to males. Fast forward after multiple episodes, she claims she isn't a muslim. After that, she... chugs down alcohol
βShe has a boyfriend. This part isn't wrong ofc but her relationship with Brion has no proper development unlike Spitfire and ofc M'Gann and Lagoon Boy!!! Oh wait, Neptune's Beard. I meant Connor. Sorry for that.
βShe enjoys watching a naked Brion but covers her eyes when she finds out Forager is naked like wtf you've seen everything about that bug for minutes.
βShe claims she isn't female or a woman but nothing gets developed after that. Like, ok. What next?
βShe keeps dying for no reason at all except for them to test how much gorey and violent could they be.
βLast rant: First LGBT representation features... AN UNDERAGE TEENAGE GIRL WHO MAKES OUT WITH A CLASSMATE WHO APPEARED FOR LIKE 1 MINUTE TOTAL PRIOR TO THIS EPISODE. Oh, she also happens to be a drunkard who teaches a minor teenage girl to drink and all of a sudden kisses her for no reason at all. Oh, and THEY ARE BOTH CHEATING LIKE WHAT THE ACTUAL FUCK. MINOR TEENAGE GIRL, CHEATING, INTOXICATED!!! This LGBT representation is just wrong in all aspects man
Years ago when Halo Reach came out I had the opportunity go get some pretty cool gear like the flaming blue helmet effect.
Now that Halo MCC is out for PC, I want to know if there is anyway my character inventory can somehow be linked or transferred to the new collection.
So, I know she is a simulation trooper like the main characters. But, she has a more expensive, fancier armor set than the usual kind. The problem is, I got into Halo because of RvB, not the other way around, and there is SO MUCH armor on the wiki that I simply have no idea what would be believable.
Is there a system they use on the show for that, or do they give characters whatever looks cool? Do I need to worry about rarity or story specific armor to be believable? I don't know where to begin.
I want it to be a little more feminine, but not stupidly so; slim, but still practical, not just skintight armor. I just don't want it as bulky as the basic Mark VI everyone wears. It's got a black techsuit and the plating is kind of a forest green, with little purple vine designs and shiny gold-and-silver petals. But, I made the pattern by just letting my hand do whatever it wanted, I have no idea if a pattern like that would be viable or practical for a Halo OC, no matter how gaudy I say the gift was in her bio...
And would she wear the same helmet? Caboose doesn't. So it seems like they can choose, but how far does that go? How far does color choice go? How far does shape and form-fitting choice go? There are soooo many varieties on the online lists. Are there any experts here who could please help?
