Albums that your opinion on has drastically changed over time ?

Piece Of Mind & Somewhere in Time were two of my least favourites that I rarely listened to for the longest time and in the last year or so Piece of Mind has become one of my top 3 Maiden albums and I like Somewhere In Time a lot more than before.

Book of Souls was one of my favourites but now I think it is an album where some of it is amazing but the rest of it is mediocre.

"Beach House don't change much". I don't agree. What other bands have changed radically from album to album?

I think they have changed between albums. Maybe not a change as radical as going from twee pop to death metal. But there's an obvious change from the first 2 to Teen Dream. The most obvious change was with '7'. I think there was a subtle change b'wn Bloom and Depression Cherry etc.

But as I'm thinking about musicians/ bands that have done a complete 180 turn, I'm coming up with - The Beatles: Sgt Pepper, Radiohead: Kid A. I'm drawing a blank otherwise. I'm sure there are tons of bands that have radically changed their sound. Anyone have examples?

SINCE I POSTED, YOU'VE COME UP WITH SOME GREAT EXAMPLES BELOW. THANKS EVERYONE!.

What was everyone's first ever most favorite album, and has your favorite album changed multiple times over the years?

My first ever favorite album was Demon Days by Gorillaz, back in 2006 when I was 10. Then early in high school (2011), my favorite album changed to Sounds of a Playground Fading by In Flames, then Plastic Beach by Gorillaz, then early in college (2015), it changed to Black Holes and Revelations by Muse, then Februus by Uneven Structure, and after college (2019), my favorite album changed to Malina by Leprous, and that's currently my favorite album.

My taste in music has changed over time, going from alt. rock & heavy metal in middle/high school (the teenage angst was real cringe) to pretty much only prog metal/rock from college up to now.

What Songs changed after their initial release in the album DAMN.?

I remember the intro of LOVE. changed. Also in DUCKWORTH. Kendrick changed "God is one funny motherfucker" to "Life is one funny motherfucked". Also I feel there are some minor changes in the beat of FEEL. hopefully someone can confirm if this is true.

What else? Do you remember any other changes?

Almost 18 months after Rough and Rowdy Ways, what are your reflections on the album? Has your opinion on it changed in any significant way?

Also, for those who have seen the new tour: What are your thoughts? Where does it rank among his touring periods? I see Bob Dylan as I saw Leonard Cohen and am, in some ways, beginning to see Bruce Springsteen: a cultural icon who knows he's nearing his final chapters, and imparting wisdom. I feel like I would need a lot of time to study Rough and Rowdy Ways (and many of Dylan's albums) to better understand what he's trying to convey. The album seems sad, but also wise, and also more than a little darkly humorous.

Have the rerecordings changed your album rankings so far?

I ask because it actually has for me! Before Red (TV), Red ranked 7th, with 1989 and Debut coming in last (although, that's not really saying anything because I literally adore all of Taylor's music). But now, Red has moved up, and not just because of the magnificent vault tracks. IDK, it just feels richer with her more mature voice and the instrumentation seems clearer. I just love it. It's moved up to 4th place for me now. Right now Folklore, evermore, and Speak Now are my top 3.

How about you guys?

Coming out of release weekend I felt that it was a good album, like a pretty even seven. I was ready to continue to claim After Hours Abel’s best. However, upon letting this album Marinate for the week my initial impressions were wrong and I’m obsessed with this album, holy fuck is it good.

Abel has really taken the synth pop sound and made it his own. This album just has that feel to it fool of ear worms.

I've always been a fan of Red, more so than most fans I think (I always see it placed low in rankings compared to albums like Speak Now, Reputation and Folklore) but with the added vault songs it's 100% pushed it solidly into the top 3 😍

What album/band changed your perspective on the genre?

I’ll start just to share my story which inspired this;

I was a big old Metallica/Shinedown nerd until one day my buddy texted me about this band from Ocala (we both live here) called Wage War, and I listened to their latest album which had just come out three days prior, β€œPressure”. To this day I don’t get the hate it gets in every thread; I was completely floored by their perfect mix of clean and gruff vocals and instrumentals, added all but two or three of the songs to my library (then listened to deadweight and got scared away by the heaviness lol). I am dead certain it was the gateway drug into my metalcore addiction, and now they’re my favorite band (seeing them live for the second time next Saturday) but I think that was most importantly the moment when I started my journey from Octane to Djent, and couldn’t be more satisfied with how it happened lol

Any similar experiences?
